CELTIC fans will be able to get a close look at former target Mateusz Bogusz when he plays for Poland at Hampden tomorrow night.
Just before the transfer deadline, the champions withdrew from the race for the Los Angeles midfielder after a reported initial offer of around £5million had been knocked back by the MLS outfit.
Brendan Rodgers, of course, did land his priority in £11million Belgian Arne Engels from Bundesliga outfit Augsburg while also adding £1million Luke McCowan from Dundee to strengthen his squad for the rigours of the domestic and European campaign.
ONE WHO GOT AWAY…Los Angeles midfielder Mateusz Bogusz.
Bogusz is scheduled to make his debut against Scotland in the Nations League encounter after missing his country’s first training session following flight delays from the US.
Polish head coach Michal Probierz will switch the player’s club position against Steve Clarke’s men. LA have been fielding the player in in a more offensive role, but the nation’s gaffer sees him more as an anchorman.
Probierz, speaking to the Daily Record, explained: “Mateusz Bogusz is considered a central midfielder, because that’s his position. He played a few games as a striker, but he’s not a typical striker.”
Hoops supporters will be able to make up their own minds when the player performs against the Scots at the national stadium.
