CELTIC TARGET UPDATE

CELTIC target Fergal Harkin has rejected a move to Belgian First Division B side SK Lommel – sparking speculation he could be on his way to the Hoops.

The Irishman, who is currently Manchester City’s transfer guru, is on the Parkhead club’s radar for one of their newly-created backroom roles in the summer revamp, as CQN reported back in February.

The Etihad giants, who face Chelsea in tomorrow night’s Champions League Final, have offered Harkin the opportunity to become more hands-on with their sister club in Belgium.

However, the highly-rated negotiator, who has already worked with the Glasgow outfit in arranging loan deals for the likes of Patrick Roberts, Jason Denayer, Daniel Arzani and John Guidetti over recent years, could be seen as part of Eddie Howe’s backroom jigsaw, according to the Daily Record.

The former Bournemouth gaffer, 43, is poised to be announced within the next few days and he is hoping to bring in his coaches at the south coast club, Stephen Purches and Simon Weathertone plus one-time Scotland international playmaker Richard Hughes who has been the club’s main talent spotter in the past few years.
