CELTIC TO DEAL IN BAIN AND AJER

CELTIC will begin official talks with Scott Bain over a permanent deal this week.

And Brendan Rodgers is also ready to make an offer to 19-year-old Norwegian defender Kristoffer Ajer to extend his contract.

Bain, on loan from Dundee until the end of the campaign, is a free agent in the summer and the Hoops are now ready to negotiate with the 26-year-old shotstopper and his advisors, as CQN reported last month.

The goalie made his debut in the dramatic 3-2 win at Ibrox last month and has followed up that impressive performance with clean sheets in the draw with Motherwell and the 3-0 victory over Ross County at the weekend.

And, while there have been no recent developments in the situations regarding Dedryck Boyata, Tom Rogic and Stuart Armstrong, talks with Ajer are moving along.

The champions have been working towards extending the international’s contract and opened discussions last month.

Negotiations are understood to be advancing positively as the champions look to tie the 19-year-old for long-term.

Ajer has emerged as an important player for Rodgers and his progression led to a first senior Norway call-up last month when he played against Australia and Albania.

Celtic are edging towards finding an agreement to keep the skilful centre-back beyond the remaining two years on his current contract.
