CELTIC TRANSFER GUESSING GAME

THE list of reported Celtic targets is piling up with just 10 days to go in the transfer window.

The clock is ticking down with the Hoops fans growing increasingly disgruntled at the lack of quality signings.

Their frustration manifested itself into a loud and angry reaction during the dismal scoreless stalemate against Kairat Almaty in the Champions League play-off first leg at Parkhead in midweek.

Now, as Brendan Rodgers prepares his squad for the visit of Livingston tomorrow afternoon and the arduous trip to Kazakhstan for the crucial return leg on Tuesday, potential recruits are being lined up as the guessing game is ramped up throughout Europe.

WANTED MAN…Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha celebrates a goal.

The Hoops have brought in several new players this summer with versatile Swede Benjamin Nygren the highest priced at £1.7million while striker Shin Yamada cost £1.3million when he arrived from J-League outfit Kawasaki Frontale.

There was a modest outlay of £300,000 for his countryman, left-back Hayato Inamura, while there was a compensation fee for young Fulham forward Callum Osmand.

And, of course, fans’ favourite Kieran Tierney arrived after a six-year absence following the completion of his contract at Arsenal.

Nicolas Kuhn (£17.2million to Como) and Gustaf Lagerbielke (£2million to Sporting Braga) have quit Parkhead and replacements are being actively sought by the Hoops gaffer.

WANTED MAN…Feyenoord flanker Calvin Strang.

Names being pitched for a move to Scotland’s title kings include £5million-rated Go Ahead Eagles striker Jakob Breum, wingers Michel-Ange Balikwisha (Royal Antwerp) and Calvin Strang (Feyenoord) and Japanese left-back Keita Kosugi (Djurgården).

Cluj frontman Louis Munteanu has also been named among the prospective recruits for Rodgers and there have been reports the champions have had a £6.9million offer for the Romanian rejected earlier in the window.

Local media outlet Digi Sport now claim Celtic have dropped all interest due to the “unreasonable” £15million asking fee.

Other names will emerge as the minutes tick down to the 7pm deadline a week on Monday.
