A TRIO of Celtic kids have been called into the Republic of Ireland squad for the European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Latvia a week today.
Top prospects winger Rocco Vata, central defender Bosun Lawal and sriker Johnny Kenny will be involved in the 1pm kick-off as the Irish travel to Riga following back-to-back wins over Turkey and San Marino last month.
Vata, 18, son of former Hoops star Rudi, has already figured in Brendan Rodgers’ first-team plans this season while Lawal, 20, signed a year-long temporary deal with English third-tier outfit Fleetwood Town in the summer.
IN THE RUNNING…Bosun Lawal hopes to play against Latvia.
Kenny, signed by Ange Postecoglou from Sligo Rovers for £125,000 in January 2022, is currently on loan at Shamrock Rovers.
The 20-year-old frontman has scored four goals in 27 league appearances this term.
Liam Scales and Mikey Johnston are also involved in the senior Euro 24 squad after getting the nod from manager Stephen Kenny for the qualifiers against Greece in Dublin a week today and Gibraltar in Faro three days later.
