CELTIC TRIO IN DEMAND

A TRIO of Celtic stars are in demand as Brendan Rodgers attempts to strengthen his squad before the Premiership kicks off in just 24 days’ time.

Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate and Oh Hyeon-gyu are on the wanted list of clubs in Italy, Russia and England.

The champions have acted swiftly to boot out bids for the two midfield aces while they await a follow-up to initial interest in the striker.

WANTED MAN…Matt O’Riley is in the transfer spotlight.

O’RILEY was the subject of an offer from Europa League winners Atalanta, but the Serie A outfit have been informed they are out of luck in their quest for the 23-year-old Danish international playmaker, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

The Italian club’s boss Gian Piero Gasperini is looking to add to his player pool as he gears up for a tilt at the Champions League.

London-born O’Riley, who joined the Hoops in a cut-price £1.5million switch from third-tier MK Dons in January 2022, won multiple Player of the Year awards last season after scoring 19 goals as Brendan Rodgers’ men achieved the league and Cup double.

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid had an offer for O’Riley, rated in the £25million-plus category, rejected in January while newly-promoted Premier League pair Southampton and Leicester City are also said to be monitoring the situation of the stylish middle-of-the-park performer who signed a four-year extension on his contract in September.

WANTED MAN…Reo Hatate is the target for a Russian club.

HATATE has also been targeted by an unnamed club, but that move has hit a brick wall with the Parkhead hierarchy’s concerns over dealing with Russian teams following the country’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Russian outfits are currently banned from international football. The European Union have also imposed widescale sanctions on the country’s businesses and individuals .

The Hoops kocked back the interest in the 26-year-old Japanese star before a fee was discussed, according to the Daily Mail.

WANTED MAN…Oh Hyeon-Kyu-gyu is in demand.

OH is being eyed by Championship side Swansea City, according to a report in his homeland.

The powerhouse frontman, who dropped down the frontline pecking order after the loan arrival of Adam Idah from Norwich City in January, has also been linked with Belgian outfit Genk.

O’Riley, Hatate and Oh will all be included in Rodgers’ squad which is preparing to fly out to America a week tomorrow for pre-season games against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea.
