CELTIC TRIO ON TIGHTROPE

THREE top Celtic stars will walk the suspension tightrope when Neil Lennon takes the Hoops to take on FC Copenhagen in the Danish capital on Thursday night.

Twenty-four-goal man Odsonne Edouard, £7million central defender Christopher Jullien and Scotland international playmaker Ryan Christie are all one booking away from a ban.

The Hoops trio have each picked up two yellow cards in their attempts to get the team to the Europa League last-32 encounter against the Danes – and one slip in the match official’s judgement will automatically see them banished from the second leg at Parkhead next week.

Under UEFA rules players are suspended after accumulating three yellow cards. Following that, they will be suspended for every second caution.

French double-act Edouard and Jullien have proved to be key players for Lennon while Christie is now trying to battle his way back into the manager’s first-team plans after sitting out the first three games of 2020 due to retrospective SFA punishment following the incident with Alfredo Morelos in December.

VAR will be in operation at this knock-out stage of the European tournament with Celtic becoming the first Scottish club to come under the scrutiny of the video-assisted referee.
