Just watched Sportscene from Saturday night Steven Thompson ex-Dundee Utd & St Mirren and some mob not around anymore, is 100% convinced Stokely meant it, Michael Stewart who I actually think is half decent pundit outs it down to clumsy ?? Need to try that if I ever get done for assault, “am clumsy your honour” anyway, wee KT’s jaw will hopefully heal, Stokley will never be an invincible …..

Aff oot to see my maws wee sister, she wasn’t well enough to make MissGFTB’s communion so wee have a wee framed photo for her, even though she is quite a holy person, am sure when she sees the photos on my phone of the wee blade at Celtic park she will be over the moon, even though her own grandchildren are season ticket holders, MissGFTB has always been her favourite

    Enjoy your day fellow Celts

JJ- my first thought on Hayes, was MD , LG will relish a guy who can put in a good cross ball.

  3. Can you imagine the uproar that would be going on right now if it had been Broonie who knocked a guys teeth out and broke his jaw? Retrospective inquiries would be called for, banning orders issued the full book would be thrown at him.

Stockley…not even asked about it so far.

Our Media……How do they know? Ach you know, they just “know”.

Tierney’s a Celtic player, it stands to reason that Stockley “didn’t mean it”.

The same as the unpunished clown from Motherwell didn’t mean his high studded lunge…..”he’s not that type of player”.

    Easy blinkered narratives.

Ps – if Stockley didn’t mean it, genuinely didn’t mean it, then he’d have been all over Tierney apologising while his mouth was streaming with blood and his teeth were pointing in different directions! Thug showed no concern whatsoever. Guilty as sin.

Bang on the money there Barney.Look at the furore the Ross County tackle caused.A full week of it.

If this had been a guy with no previous, maybe, just maybe,we could have written it off as an accident, but this guy has so much previous for it.A couple of weeks ago he was deservedly sent off against the Huns for his SECOND elbowing offence. He just cant help it.For these balloons to say it was accidental is ridiculous.

  6. Morning all

Late starr at work today so around for a bit.

Still coming down from Saturday and suspect I shall not be stuck on Terra Firma until I get back from Vegas in two weeks time.

Saturday was a special day that reminded me a lot of the 88 final ( weather excepted) as it had been one of those weeks when we were aware of our club’s history. I have no doubt nearly everybody will say ‘I always knew we’d do it’ but I won’t be one of them. Obviously I thought we had a decent chance of winning but as we squandered some decent chances and had some near misses I had begun to wonder if Aberdeen were going to nick it as they had done in the 76 League Cup or 84 Scottish when we had mostly been the better team but still lost. It was only when Tom glided past Considine that I began to get optimistic!

How does Saturday compare with the great days and nights of the past,For me post Lisbon, the Leeds games, the 4-2 game , Albert Kidd or Boavista were the peaks but Saturday is to me up with the 2 finals v Dundee United in the 80s, Haraald versus the Saints, Big Bad John at Anfield, Naka v Man U,Tony Watt v Barca or from much longer ago 2-1 in Amsterdam in 82 and Lou Macari scoring a very late and very unexpected win in Budapest ( which caused me to jump up and break a lampshade). The other more personal cup win was that one 22 years ago v Airdrie- terrible game but after 6 years of misery it was some feeling at the end. All Tom’s goal could be is up there with the glories of the past. It absolutely was

Celtic has mostly in my experience been an easy team to follow. We have had our disappointments and some spells of failure- one of which lasted a decade- but mostly we have successful teams that play football that is enjoyable to watch but the season just finished has been an especially good vintage.

The news in real world is rarely pleasing and there are things about my own life I wish were better but Celtic have been a glorious distraction. As they so often have been in my life. Thanks to the higher powers and my family for making me a Celt.

We do not always do happy post and pre seasons and no doubt things will happen I won’t like like good players leaving or no big names coming in. But unlike at the end of other seasons – even good ones- i do not feel any unease. I think things will turn out fine for a while yet

Oh and if the above makes me a happy clapper, back of the bus type in some people’s opinion so be it. But you know I understand that not everything is right about the environment Celtic operates in. I still want answers to some big questions about what the hell went on in 2010/11. But I am still able to enjoy my club’s successes and the happiness it brings to my family and friends.

  7. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Watched the full game again last night. As oft happens you see new things.

After THE Don’s opener, Celtic took the centre and made 20 odd passes, the next Aberdeen player to touch the ball was Lewis, when he picked the ball out the net.

    Rogic’s goal………….THE LIGHTNING STRIKE !

  8. I watched it over and over again. Stockley is actually has a feel behind him before he turns. He knew exactly where KT was. No accident at all.

Andy Walker, i quote, ” I dont think there was any malace in the lad”

    Prick.

  9. PCs. Sorry I don’t have a copy of the sermon, it was spoken from the heart. In Lourdes now and I have prayed for every CQNer at the Grotto.

  10. That was a season I never wanted to end. Stunning!

Culminating in a Celtic week – I was at the Trophy Day, the Hydro, the Cup Final and the Lubo/Henrik game yesterday. Magical.

Still smiling but the withdrawal symptoms will kick in soon.

  11. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan on

For those looking for Connaire’s sermon in Lisbon — I don’t know for sure yet but I am reasonably hopeful that the whole thing was captured on film.

If so, I am also reasonably hopeful that I will get my hands on it.

Re the Thomson/Stewart differing opinions of the Stockley elbow on Sportscene.

I can’t help feeling that these things are orchestrated in the interests of ‘Balance’.

  13. Thunder Road on

Pretty sure Roy Croppie might throw in Big George McCluskeys extra time winner v the deed lot in 1980.

Hope he doesnt mind me saying that!

Was only 13 at the time but i can still remember the tension and relief as he diverted Dannys shot into the net!

  14. The “No Celtic”to watch for a couple of months feeling, kicking in now.Really hate the close season. It was bad enough before just listening to the transfer guff coming from our own SMSM,but now,you cannot put Newsnow on for the Clickbait sites spouting even more gibberish.Does anyone actually click onto these sites?.Please dont.

Let’s face it – they have been trying to put Kieran out the game all season – the list of failed attempts is extensive.

The fact that it took until the last competitive game of the season to achieve it tells us all we need to know about Kieran’s, talent/threat, his physical toughness and sheer mental bravery!

The bhoy has everything and he plays for the Invincible Celtic.

Have avoided making the comparison… until now… similarities to Danny are uncanny!!

Is this the balance they are looking for, Scott Brown sent off at Dingwall, vilified told he was letting his club and role as captain down, Celtic reduced to 10 therefore punished, card rescinded to a yellow as it was not a sending off offence, Stockley knows where KT is,Kieran is trying to get a look to where the ball is gets a straight arm to the mouth and face but he did it by spinning his upper body very powerful move designed to inflict a serious injury , no action from the ref the fourth official and the linesman Frankie Connor who were looking at this and all did not see it, nothing in the press and Aberdeen of the hook. I suppose that is a balance of sorts but the scales tilted severely in favour of which ever team is playing Celtic. This definitely affected Celtic on Saturday especially in our options in attack.

  17. Maybe only me,but I am a wee bit concerned by our seeming inability to head clear crosses into our box.So many times this season we have witnessed this failing. It does not seem to be a constant thing, which makes it all the more worrying.Somedays everything works, somedays we are all at sea when a cross is swung in.I love our two CHs,but feel there is still a lot of work to be done in this area, failing that,a big commanding CH could be required. We should not be losing so many in our box with Jozo,Lustig, and Boyatta there.
