Can’t say I agree with you re europe, europe is what we strive for, presently we are on a different level to the top teams, but to give up hope, not a chance, with respect dominating in scotland really shouldn’t be hard given we have the best players and the best manager.

It would be like the rest of the teams in scotland not turning up cos we keep winning, never gonna happen, must say am surprised with you saying that :-)

  2. I see Uefa have announced a new Europa league 2 starting in 2021.

Currently Scottish clubs would need to qualify for Europa league 2, will not qualify for Europa league 1, as Scotland does not have a good enough rating.

All league winners can still compete for 6 spaces in Champions league, outwith the big nations getting 3 or 4 automatic entries

Think it’s time for some of the major clubs who do not get into Champions league to go and through S—– at themselves

Again, also time for Celtic to treat that Betfred cup as a way of giving fringe players and U-21s some competitive games

In my time watching Celtic we have a had a lot of terrific Celtic managers but Brendan is very special

    Just my opinion :-)

  4. Sorry, tell UEFA, to go through Keech at itself

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin confirmed the news after their meeting in Dublin

A third European club competition with the working title ‘Europa League 2’ will be introduced from 2021.

One English team will enter the play-offs of the new tournament, while Scottish sides may miss out on Europa League places in a reshuffle.

As part of Uefa’s 2021-2024 cycle, the Europa League will be halved in size to 32 teams with an extra play-off round between the group stage and last 16.

The new tournament will be played on Thursdays alongside the Europa League

Every country’s champions will still enter the Champions League, but only teams from the 15 top-ranked countries will go into the Europa League group stages or qualifiers.

That means teams from leagues below that level – which at the moment would include Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, excluding their champions – would go straight into ‘UEL2’ qualifying rounds.

The new competition and Europa League will have the same format – eight groups of four teams with the winners going into the last 16. There will be a play-off before that round for the teams who finish second in the group and sides who finish third in the groups of the higher tournament.

The winners of the tournament will qualify for the following season’s Europa League.

The Champions League format does not change.

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin said: “The new competition makes Uefa’s club competitions more inclusive than ever before. There will be more matches for more clubs, with more associations represented in the group stages.

“This competition was born out of ongoing dialogue with clubs through the European Club Association.”

At least 34 countries will have teams in a group stage, compared to 26 at the moment.

Don’t ever let the minority spoil our Celtic :-)

I loved KT with his megaphone but for this Leigh Griffiths & Craig Gordon fan the bhoys not starting we’re as important as the ones with the shirts

  9. BTW it took about 8 stewards to hold down that fanny who ran on the park, meanwhile about 30 polis are about 40 yards away watching….

  10. BADA BING

I noticed a huge line of cops in bright jackets watching while the fanny grappled with out of shape stewards.

I’m sure if he come from the Celtic fans polis scotland would have subdued him mob handed and batons drawn fairly quickly.

Just got a “what’s app” fae one of the nephews … not got Facebook but Bertie Auld looked happier to be with ma bhoy

  12. TET –

I suppose what I was trying to say was that based on our current budget any European ambitions must surely be limited to say last 16 of Champions league or a decent run in the Europa. Spending another £30M or £40M wouldn’t materially improve that. Spending £200M might – but never going to happen. Could probably explain my reasoning better face to face. Always want us to to be the best we can be and to try to win every game we play. But, realistically, domestic football is where we will get our celebrations – unfortunate, yes, but that’s the reality for me.

  13. Aberdeen’s twitter feed saying GMS could be back next weekend. That would be criminal given how serious a concussion it so obviously was.

  15. What a year for Croatia.

    World cup finalists

    Davis cup winners

And the pinnacle, 2 Scottish League Cup winners medals

  16. Ta for replies, guy was still wrestling with them after about 5 minutes, meanwhile, Police Scotland’s finest stand back and watch,on double time

  17. Today was always going to be difficult with a crap ref facilitating a team of cloggers.

But i think we also made it harder than it should have been.

The initial more direct approach that came about with Calum dropping deeper seems to me has started to resemble the possession obsessed game of earlier in the season that had plenty of the ball and not much threat.

Our two best forward passes today came from Boyata for Ryan’s goal and Benkovic’s wonderful through ball to Eduard.

Not one of our forward and midfield players played any real positive passes to the danger area.

We again seemed to lack clarity in the roles of Rogic.Forrest,Sinclair and McGregor.

    Only Christie posed any threat.

Since the international break where JF showed how good he could be attacking the the space in the box he has reverted to mostly facing backwards and returning it to where the ball came.Likewise Sinclair.Rogic has been off the boil and struggles to find a teammate. Calum is neat and tidy but his killer diagonal passes have disappeared .

The international break seems to have killed our flow and momentum.

  18. Jobo

I am realistic, the last 16 in the CL is a long way away imo, we need to spend that 40 mill you just mentioned to have a hope, as for a europa run, when have we ever had the rub of the green, take this season, we get a group of death the huns get the easiest group out there, a cynic would think there was a conspiracy against us.

We NEED to compete in europe else we stagnate and we will find it harder to attract players, I accept what you say in some ways, but dominating in scotland should be a given.

(sic) apologies CQN is too good for the likes of …………….., too many to mention :-)

  21. TE – sounds like an amicable draw. Acceptance that we would love to do better (in Europe). But an acknowledgement that it’s very difficult to do so. A result against Salzburg and a decent draw in the last 32 would be a start.

  22. DD

let’s forget about Jozo’ s first touch.

Sleep calls. Night night. Sweet dreams Celtic land.

My Dad enjoyed it when he finally got his channel up and running.

Apology accepted, though not sure it’s needed.

I think it was a case of talking at cross purposes.
