Delicious prospect of Huns having a 30th anniversary revenge game v Marseilles to qualify for next years CL.
Alternative of them playing a PSV side who won’t make the same mistake as last time.
They will have a very new and inexperienced European squad this time. It will be interesting to see how this shapes up.
Of course they may not even get to that round. USG of Belgium and possibly a few of the other 3rd round non champs might give them a fright.

Better doing a 1500 capacity stadium in the shadow of the celtic end (running parallel to the stand. Add a large indoor area (facing london road) that can also open up onto the pitch – double up b team and woman’s team stadium with match day fanzone and family zone (could use half pitch for skills school for kids on match day etc and other half for entertainment etc… Any investment needs to be smart and offer a finacial return. Oh meant to add that Sir Furious’s da and uncle were avid Celtic supporters their grampa arrived in the Renton as youngster I believe fae that land beyond the sea but seemingly he married a daughter of the manse fae Dumbarton, he went off tae WWI where he was seriously injured and convalesced so in order to be close to him she relocated to Govan and thats why they grew up there. .
When we started this competition on the last day of July last year, our top 3 were:-
Ayrshire Tim
Hopeful Hoops
& St. Tams
They finished in 13th, 7th and 49th respectively in our final table
Our bottom 3 were McCaff, Por Cierto & wee BGFC with Jobo and James Cant just ahead of them.
Wee BCFC and Por Cierto were among the 10 or so of our original 70 participants who found it difficult to keep up with weekly predictions. I appreciate their participation and the money they donated to our charity over the year. McCaff managed to bump along near the bottom for all of the season but I believe he missed a few weeks participation too. Jobo and James managed to get to 29th and 42nd respectively but James had one spectacular week and won one of our big prizes.
In this final round, our top 3 were:-
OneMalloy- 11.5 pts (congrats on the final yellow cap of the year)
Hamiltontim- 9 pts
ACGR & Leggy- 8.5 pts
5 predictors scored only 2 points (Aipple, St. Tams, LanarkBhoy, mccormick and Tirconnel) but the computer awarded the wooden spoon to Tirconnel.
In our overall race and the final prizes, it went down to the wire. Our long time leader allowed herself to be overtaken in the final two match days of the season by a guy who has less equilibrium than Dean Martin on a bar stool. You could say she did a Devon Loch, or a Crisp or that she Hissed it but, truth told, she outperformed all but one of the males in the race, so I would keep a respectful silence on attempting any cheek there.
1. Winning £150- Leggy- 226 pts
2. Winning £100- A thing of beauty- 223 pts
3. Winning £50- Celticrollercoaster- 209 pts
Just missing out were Call me Gerry (last year’s winner) on 208.5 pts and Bognorbhoy on 205- Valiant efforts.
Our 4th prize worth £100 goes to James Cant who obtained a weekly total of 17.5 points in week 29 (edging out Jonny the Tim and The class of 67 who both got 15.5 pts. James finished 42nd out of around. 60 active participants but he had one good week in him.
And heading towards the bottom brings us to our final prizes. With 139.5 points, our lowest active participant was McCaff but, since he is getting rid of unhygienic wooden kitchen implements, I will order one of his plastic equivalents for him, if he lists the link he gave recently to such an object (I forgot to take notes). Having already purchased a wooden spoon, however, I am determined to award it and it goes to our next worst active punter- take a bow- TheLurkinTim on 144.5 who just edged out BelmontBrian 63 on 146 points.
I will be in touch by Brumail in the next few days with all 4 winners and our two loser winners to arrange a destination for their winnings but I have a Title to continue celebrating and should achieve a suitably drunken state in the next hour or two.
Before I do, can I offer, for one final time, my appreciation of the interest shown and the money raised by this wee venture. You are all stars.
In the short post 22/23 season and pre-23/24 season, I will be seeking guidance form Sentinel Celts, CQN and RCQN as to what we do next season and for ideas on a suitable charity to benefit.
Let me know your ideas- but not tonight as you’ll get no sense out of me- or even less sense.

*SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2022-23*
*RESULTS FROM GAME #52 – CELTIC 5 ABERDEEN 0 (KYOGO(2), STARFELT, OH(2) )*
Good evening, friends.
Game 52 has produced the first joint Man Of The Match award. But more of that later…!
A real return to form yesterday and a performance to match the extraordinary pre-match TIFO which was up there with the very best. So delighted that big Carl finally got a home goal to cap of a recent rich vein of form. Equally delighted with the movements of both Kyogo and Oh at their respective 2nd goals. When McGregor fired the shot that the keeper fumbled Kyogo was 2 yards shy of the D and still managed to be first to the rebound! And even from my own vantage point at the back of the standing section I could see that Oh was working on something as Jota prepared to take the late 2nd half free kick; his spin and follow up was brilliant to see.
I think that there are now more of us just a little bit more at ease as we enter cup final build up week!
Domestically this season we have now played 46, winning 40, drawing 3 and losing 3, scoring 140 and conceding 37. Our domestic goal difference is back in the 3 figure territory!
Thanks to the 53 folk who continued to support this wee venture. Still a little bit down on the usual norm of around 65 but hey ho. The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.
Hart: 0
Johnston*: 12
Iwata: 3
Starfelt: 23
Taylor: 3
McGregor*: 12
Hatate*: 41
O’Riley: 3
Abada: 0
Furahashi: 41
Jota: 4
Forrest: 0
Oh: 16
Ralston: 0
Turnbull: 0
Summers: 0
And so, the players receiving POINTS for the game against Aberdeen are –
Furahashi and Hatate – 5 points each
Starfelt – 3 pts
Oh – 2 pts
Johnston and McGregor – 1 point each
After 52 games the overall standings are as shown below –
99 points – Hatate
84 points – Carter-Vickers
67 points – Jota
62 points – Furuhashi and McGregor
51 points – Mooy
46 points – Starfelt
45 points – Taylor
37 points – O’Riley
35 points – Johnston
31 points – Abada
30 points – Maeda
22 points – Jenz
17 points – Haksabanovic
13 points – Giakoumakis, Juranovic and Ralston
12 points – Hart
11 points – Oh
10 points – Iwata
9 points – Bernabei and Welsh
8 points – Forrest points – Kobayashi
5 points – Turnbull
1 point – Bain
0 points – Abildgaard, Lawal, McCarthy, Siegrist, Summers and Vata
Normally, I’d also be announcing the latest player of the month. However, as we only have 1 game in June, I plan to include that in the final monthly award. The player of the month is based simply on the total votes accumulated over the games played. With 1 game to play, Carl Starfelt is atop with a lead of 52 over Kyogo. Reo is only 1 vote further adrift with Calum a further vote behind. A MOTM performance from any of the chasing pack could see them catch Carl – IF at least 52 folk vote next week, hint hint!!!
Only one game remains of this extremely successful season; Scottish Cup Final Day on Saturday 3rd June and a 5.30pm kick off against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
