Our passing needs to be better or Atalanta will ‘do’ us.
Need to see highlights to see if any pen.
Their No. 6 should have walked.

By the way Johnston doesnt need to back into their keeper, he just needs to stand still and let Idah header the ball or make Mitov climb over him to get to the ball, stupid move from him.

Just on bus on way back and have mixed emotions. Could have scored 4 on another day but parts of the game were similar to much of the first half of last season. Zzzz.
Aberdeen killed the game with time wasting anytime we threatened to get any momentum or concerted pressure with no action at all from the ref.
I’d like to see the handball at the death again too

There was a 10-15 minute pell around the hour mark when we were teetering on the brink. There was a moment that summed it up when Calmac received the ball in space, ran across the park and carelessly got dispossessed. From no danger, we were suddenly scrambling to recover.
Dons gave a great account of themselves and to get back in the game speaks volumes for their self belief. Looks like they have found themselves an excellent coach.
We were unlucky not to grab a winner. From the 80th minute you could sense it was coming. Idah’s injury time header only had to go a few inches either side of the keeper and we’d be saying job well done.
And that looked like a certain hand ball at the death. The angle he was standing on the line means the ball must have come off his arm to come back out.

Credit to Aberdeen, they came for a game not to park the bus

Evening all.
Just in from game.
One could say it was a great game.
Another day could have scored 4.
We seem a bit disconnected after international breaks.
I’ve no energy to pick it apart.
We’ve got a weak chin. I’ll leave it at that.

CalMac is a big part of our problems in Europe. Or rather, his position is. We lack a genuine defensive midfielder and leave our CBs far too exposed. CalMac links and builds the play up well but can’t see the danger and offers next to nothing in shielding our CBs.
Not a really a problem in Scotland but at the higher levels in kills us. Today for a short time, our backline was far too exposed.
Strachan had Lennon, Lennon had Wanyama. We need that kind of midfield player to do more in europe and that clearly is not Calmac.

Can’t remember the last time I saw the ref blow for FT when the ball wasn’t in play either.
For all my moaning about the time wasting antics had we deployed a bit more of the dark arts in Dortmund it might have helped us.
Until they introduce a 60m game time clock it will always be this way. Players did well towards the end not to let it frustrate them as much as it did me and most around me

To be fair, it’s a role that’s probably not required for our domestic matches. But it’s a problem for us, no doubt. Even their second goal, Maeda makes a central pass but Calmac isn’t there, that’s where Maeda expects his no. 6 to be.
I have sympathy for BR when fans talk about changing things up in europe – when you’ve a midfield with no genuine defensive minded players then you’ll be cut open, regardless.

Key men Maeda and Khun were not as good as recent today for me and
complacency cost us 2 points as usual we missed today we missed CCV and poor 1st goal to conceded no pace between Trusty in particular or Scales on that race and young Valle was good but look jaded near the end I’m in 107 in the North Stand not seen or read about the match. We will reset and go again after Bergamo I feel.

While I thought Aberdeen were lucky to keep all their players on the park, I thought some of our defending, especially in the second half was very very poor. We gave the ball away too easily far too often. If we do the same against Atalanta, it could well be another cricket score.

Aberdeen put in a shift. We should have won – clinical with chances – foot off the pedal at 2-0. A very good game to watch.
