  1. Another day we would have won that 5-2

1st goal was a carbon copy of the early goals against dortmund – midfield to far ahead of the defence, player in between midfield and defence plays a cracking pass and we are 1 down

Can’t blame scales for that, was a great thru ball

Second goal we lost was keystone cops material, right from the misplaced maeda pass, to the deflection of trusty.

Valle was on the receiving end of a few harsh tackles today – he was targetted by the cloggers, as waas hatate – and offered no protection from the “ref”

We have played worse and won, last 10-15 mins we had a good few opportunities to score as did kyogo in the earlier part of the half

    Still top of the league

and still laughing at the huns

  2. Was at the game today and this is my critical thoughts one by one

    1. Schmeichal isn’t good enough…5 shots on target against us and 2/3 goals conceded is not good enough.

This is Dirus de Vries x 2.

Atalanta will score 5+ on Wednesday.

2.We all love Maeda but what is the point in him playing at homea gainst a low block?…none.

3.Vaille,Trusty and Scales are excellent players.

    4.Killie1 Sevco0

  3. Clunks

Yes , don’t feel to despondent, just great watching the hoops again , we will have a few hiccups along the way ……that’s football 👍☘️

  4. The Dons #6 committed 4 or 5 fouls in the first half before he was deseverdly booked early in the second half.

  5. I didn’t feel deeply disappointed as I’m happy we’ve a title race for the moment and Sevco go to Pitordrie soon and will not win there I feel.

  6. Trusty has had a few deflections off shots that have ended up as goals – he seems a decent centre half if a little unlucky – though he was outmuscled at the back post for the duk non goal

Maeda was so far off the pace today it hurt, he has a few games like that every 2 months or so, not sure if they coincide with internationals, but its something that needs to be looked at – if its a trend then its easy to fix

Not sure what kasper could do for either of the goals today

aberdeen played well today, even in the first half they pressed well and in numbers, making us make a lot of mistakes

Someone mentioned earlier that for a spell in the 2nd half we looked shaky and we did

But as I said earlier we had enough chances to bury the game, kyogo should have burst the net at 2-1

  7. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Tactical cramp is the latest trick becoming a norm in football.

Other sports have worked hard to clean up their game, making sure the talent fans pay a lot of money to see can flourish while punishing cynical, destructive conduct.

  8. cant understand other than a head injury that players going down with cramp etc cant be removed from the pitch and attended to while the game goes on , would stop a lot of play acting and time wasting.

  9. why did the ref yellow card the dons manager, seemed to be pointing to someone in their dugout and gave up waiting only to yellow the manager instead.

  10. We went to Dundee and bought Tommy Coyne who was superb as a partner with Keith Wright. Split them up and TC struggled because Celtic didn’t have a KW.

Mark McGhee [ who would soon join Newcastle ] played for us at the time and was doing not too bad after MacAvennie departed for WHU.

But in spite of that we went on to win the SCF 1-0 vs Souness’s thugs, and at last, like a dream had come true as the badly managed wee Super Joe Miller was [ at fkn last played through the middle as the main striker ] just like he was with Aberdeen scoring every week as well then wee SJM arrives at Celtic and was played on the wing ffs. ?????

We went to Hibs and bought Broony who was a brilliant partner with Kevin Thompson. Split them up and Broony didn’t really hit it off until the Huns went bust and created the One horse league, though it could be argued that Neil Lennon managed Broony well, especially pairing him with Beram Kayal.

What I’m getting at here is, would we not have been better bringing Lyle Cameron [ who looks like Murdo MacLeod’s wee brother ] from Dundee FC [ and do Tony Doherty a turn as another stick to beat the Huns with ] than spending £11 million on Engles?

I hope Engles proves me wrong but initial impressions don’t suggest that. In fairness to young Engles, he has a limited manager in Brendan who dizny teach the team how to learn lessons or alternative playing methods etc, and to a serious club that would be unacceptable.

Serious clubs don’t throw their own supporters under the bus and then trick them into a ticket pricing scam which has whitewashed the entire EBT scandal from all relevant lexicons.

  11. Tiny Tim

Matt and I are heading up from Lucca on Wednesday morning early morning Wednesday (no doubt he will be dragging his old man for a wee gym session when we arrive at hotel but if you fancy a bit of late lunch in Bergamo it would be great around 2pm ? My shout !

Game starts 6.45pm and stadium is central in the town. Let me know either way.

You missed a good game today. Dons in the style of the early 80s. We lacked the discipline to close out a game won.

  12. Said right away at the time.Stonewaller

Two goons on BBC,saying it might have come off his leg onto his arm.Nowhere near his leg.Impossible to keep that out with his body.Clear arm .

A couple on here after a job at the BBC.

  13. AuroraBorealis79 on

Did duk save it with his arm or his leg in the dying seconds of the game? The DR say it’s unanimous that it hit his leg but show only a picture that has the players arm airbrushed out of the picture

  14. !!Bada Bing!! on @10:49pm

Tommy Coyne was bang average, zero pace

    ……..…

    Exactly.

Remove Tommy Coyne from his partnership with Keith Wright and TC is a shadow of the player in that partnership.

Charlie Nicholas and Frank McGarvey partnership, remove CN and he gets found out without FM.

Remove Chris Sutton from Alan Shearer etc, etc.

Scott Brown and Kevin Thompson partnership, remove SB and he gets found out without KT until NL arrives as manager and immediately recognised this and bought Beram Kayal and Broony becomes a star and then lawwell pisses off Kayal making him leave then Broony goes back to being piss but when RFC dies Broony becomes the best player in a One horse league, until Brendan1 leaves then the Broony with no Kayal comes back in Lenny2 era.

McStay and MacLeod solid in midfield Murdo gets lied to by old board leaves for Dortmund then God blesses Celtic in “Devine intervention” act helping us to the 1988 Double. This one year without Murdo and God turned McStay into “Maestro” God does his bit and moves onto other stuff and McStay without Murdo or God is no longer “Maestro” as Maestros are never runners up but McStay was for the next 9 horrible years.

McCowan and Lyle Cameron looked the biz at Dundee, Celtic steal McCowan for £1 million and don’t play him, but LC is looking the biz at Dundee as McCowan would if Brendan would give him a chance but it seems the club are wanting to build Engles up for a £50 million move or thereabouts but at what cost to the team?

Wingers not allowed to take corners? Imho, if a winger isny like Jinky, Davie Provan, or Bobby Petta under MON, then they are not wingers and a total waste of time.

Last season Aberdeen [ with a lesser quality manager ] marked Hatate and MOR out of the game in the SCSF, today in the 2nd half they marked Hatate and Engles out of the game which was easy as the Dons had already neutered our 2 wingers. Last season other teams copied this most notably the Huns in the SCF were it took till the 90+ minutes to get a clear shot on target.

Brendan playing this way in Europe and Ange as well, 2 managers with no plan-B will teach players heehaw and make them look like idiots when they are supposed to be being showcased for sale ala the balance sheet occupation of the club.

Bodo Glimt vs Ange-ball made Celtic look piss poor, but made BG look like a team with ten George Connolly’s that they tip toed the ball past our players as though they weren’t there.

Paul67 last week dropping bread crumbs clues about “Ange return in not too distant future” ah mean what?

Ange will be piss all over again in Europe but in the One horse SPFL he should be alright as Aberdeen’s manager will be poached long before that.

  15. The style of football we play means we must take our chances.

Forget blaming the referee as per the norm for every single setback.

Take our chances and we win the game.

    HH

  16. As for Maeda, I would cut him some slack

The amount of travelling has to have a detremential effect on performance.

    HH, the journey continues

  17. Good morning all from a very wet pre storm Ashley Garngad.

How fast did that week in the lovely scorching sun go?

Got off the plane last night about 6pm ish to find out score not seen any of the game yet but my bhoy was there with his mate and said we were good 1st half but poor 2nd half.

My mate said we should have had a penalty???

It’s a blip now let’s get back on track, our squad was always going to be tested with the lack of another 3 or 4 quality players but we have what we have and make do.

Not read back yet to see the feeling amongst you fine ole bhoys, will do it later.

    Be careful out there today.

    D. :)

  18. Bhoyjoebelfast on

The placement of minute cameras in and around the goal area would help greatlly.Did the Don’s defender use an arm or did his leg prevent the ball crossing the line.GAA use umpires, two at each goal, and is of great assistance to the whistler.2024 and ‘was it or was’nt it’ a penalty still up for debate.

  19. Good point Joe prior you may recall priot to VAR Uefa had the officials employed doing a similar role though only in the European competitions did we see this for a spell.

  20. Majestic Hartson on

    Maestro,

I’ve watched that a couple of times waiting for it to his hand.

He definitely moves his hand towards a position to save if but can’t see it hit it.

When I then look at the clip expecting it to hit his leg it makes sense that that’s what happened – but it still doesn’t show it.

The clips from the other side are inconclusive, to me, too.

  21. Morning all

It’s hissin it down in North Yorks.

Can’t bring myself to support killie.

mon the hoops. let the people in your life, who you love, know that you love them.

  22. theBHOYfromU.N.C.L.E on

Watching that clip makes my blood boil….at the game I was unsure given my location in relation to the incident but , wow….just pure blatant cheating knowing there will be no repercussions. All quiet at Celtic.

Will wee Willie Winkie sanction or promote ?

  23. glendalystonsils on

I’ve watchedthe Duk clip several times and am convinced it was a stonewall penalty . 100%.

His left arm clearly moves towards the ball and with the angle of the shot and his body position , there’s no way his body alone would have kept that shot out. Walsh almost swallowed his whistle in his haste to blow for FT.

We should have won but it doesn’t disguise the flaws in our team , when a far lesser side than Dortmund can exploit them.
