RESULTS FROM GAME #16 CELTIC 6 ABERDEEN 0 (CARTER-VICKERS, KYOGO, MAEDA(3), KUHN)
Good evening, friends.
What’s that old cliché about semi finals rarely being a good footballing spectacle? We are certainly writing our own story.
Once the dust had settled from the pre-match pyro show, the first 20 minutes of the game were engrossing without being spectacular. Celtic having most of the possession but Aberdeen certainly being up for the fight, aided and abetted by referee Clancy.
The tone changed in the 28th minute and in the half hour which followed. A firm, inswinging corner from the impressive Engels saw Carter-Vickers towering above the Dons defence to bullet home our opener. 4 minutes later and we doubled our lead when Maeda nicked the ball in our own half before galloping forward with the ball, outpacing everyone in his path. Brilliant, determined and ultimately calm, Daizen passed across for Kyogo to take a touch and then blast the ball into the Aberdeen net. We continued our onslaught and just 5 minutes later, our best passing move of the first half resulted in Kuhn playing a great number 10 pass, blindsiding the defender and finding Maeda who dispatched the ball into the net.
Despite our 3 goal lead, Brendan was demanding more and unexpectedly found himself the centre of attention after kicking the ball away, falling head over heels in the process. Booked!
The second half saw no let up and just 3 minutes after the restart a fine solo run by Kuhn saw his shot only parried by the Aberdeen goalkeeper into the path of Maeda who scored his second of the afternoon. 10 minutes later and we scored our 5th goal in a blistering half hour spell. Kuhn was rewarded for his overall performance, curling a fine strike into the top corner of the net.
Whilst remaining totally in control, we waited until the 85th minute before completing the rout. In a great display of symmetry we mirrored our first half finish with the best passing move of the game, great link up play – 28 passes without Aberdeen touching the ball – and a tap in from Maeda to complete his hat trick.
In cup games in recent years I’ve noticed that referees tend to have some sympathy when a team has been well beaten. So I wasn’t surprised when Clancy added on a whopping 7 seconds to the 90 before blowing his full time whistle. Correct score bet folk might have been a little miffed although I doubt that there were many who had invested money on a 7 goal victory!
We have now played 16 games this season, winning 13, drawing 2 and losing 1. We have scored 49 and conceded 14 (domestically it’s 43-6 and in Europe it’s 6-8).
A fine turnout from my supporting voters and a big thank you to the 90 who joined in this time around (a new record, just pipping the 88 for the Atalanta game). And a pretty unanimous top 3 this time around. The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.
Schmeichel: 0
Johnston: 1
Carter-Vickers: 7
Trusty: 1
Valle: 9
McGregor: 3
Engels*: 12
Hatate: 64
Kuhn*: 81
Kyogo: 7
Maeda*: 85
Taylor: 0
Scales: 0
Bernardo: 0
Idah: 0
Forrest: 0
And so, the players receiving POINTS for the game against Aberdeen are –
Maeda – 5 points
Kuhn – 4 points
Hatate – 3 points
Engels – 2 points
Valle – 1 point
And the overall positions after 16 games played are –
Our third game in 6 days sees us play our 4th game in this season’s Champions league. A home tie against RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening, kick off 8.00pm.

Re their imaginary gf I do think it would matter to them. As would losing to us after losing to spurs within 3 days of each other. Their fixtures are easy until then and so PC will get an easy ride now.
For me we have a tough schedule ahead of the cup final. Leipzig Killie a Hertz a Brugge Aberdeen an and Zagreb a and others. They don’t.
Our squad will be stretched. After Saturday and Atalanta I really do think we can cope and come out on top in all 3 competitions.

Until then it is merely pub talk. He says – She says, territory.
What type of club would deny its cheated supporters such closure?
What type of fans would accept being mugged off so easily without that necessary “club authorised” piece of the 2012 jigsaw?
The crooked Huns got away with the biggest football crime because their main rivals fans are easy meats.

I have just read a match report on Saturday’s semi final on RTÉ, again they report that Celtic had a total overall possession of 53%, can that be accurate? I know we all watch Celtic games with green and white tinted glasses on but that was one of those games which if told we had 70-75% of possession I wouldn’t have been surprised. Looking at the Premier Sports highlights they show Aberdeen’s one shot on target, McGrath’s pass back to Schmeichel in the second half. I know shots on goal don’t tell the whole picture but surely Celtic had significantly more possession than 53%?
I am positive that during the 1960’s Celtic had TWO ” ALL GREEN” Strips at different times.
One was certainly ” ALL GREEN” which was sometimes referred to as ” The FLOODLIGHT STRIP”. There was NO WHITE on the Strips whatsoever. My DA bought me this Strip….it was MAGIC.
The other ” ALL GREEN” Strip was NOT ” ALL GREEN” because it had a White Collar and Cuffs and the Green Socks had Three WHITE Stripes on the Top of each Sock.
I can also remember Celtic wearing ( MAYBE in Europe ?) an ” ALL WHITE” Strip…..and the Collar and Cuffs had Three GREEN HOOPS on them, along with the WHITE Socks which had THREE GREEN Hoops on the Top of each sock.
I am sure that Celtic wore the ” ALL WHITE” Strip in a European game at Celtic Park….but I cant remember the opposition ?
The ” SHAMROCK STRIP” was also CLASS….I had the Jersey back in the 1990’s.
I am sure that Celtic wore the SHAMROCK Strip at Celtic Park at their FIRST Game after John F Kennedy was murdered….again I can remember the opposition but there was defo a ” MINUTES SILENCE ” before Kick Off, with every Celtic player standing to attention. There used to be some Photos on the walls of BAIRDS BAR of the Minutes Silence for JFK ….With BIG YOGI at the Fore Front wearing the Shamrock Strip…standing proud and strong.
My earlier Post SHOULD have read….In Celtics first game ( At Celtic Park) after the death of JFK, while wearing the Shamrock Strip….I can NOT remember the opposition that grim day.

Clubs who have gone bust such as Fiorentina and the like across Europe celebrate the triumphs of previous versions of their club and include them in any historic references. Sometimes with asterisks.
Governing bodies do similar. Weirdly Airdrie Scottish cup win in 1924 does seem to have a specific mention of a previous version of Airdrie in the wiki records.
My point is the clubs will always see those wins as theirs. In the case of rangers they will always claim them even though they were achieved through questionable means or even cheating. Juventus and others claim theirs.
Their ridiculous claim of worlds most successful club is based purely on domestic trophies, it is an imaginary girlfriend for them. We don’t care about it because it is ridiculous but for them it is a remnant of their supremacist past which they cling to. Celtic will overtake their domestic haul by beating them in December. Regardless of what we think it will be another nail in their coffin. It will be even worse when we hopefully level with their 55 come May. They can no longer make their claims and they will be joining in a chase which I am sure we will welcome just as their Bill Struth did back in the 1920s.
Personally I think this is yet another positive step toward Espanyolification. I respect others may see it differently.
