Philbhoy re Bitton he has his ups and downs but if BR works his magic he is technically our best midfielder and in a few weeks time it’s players like him that might try and keep the ball from the CL big boys, anyway more importantly hope big Nir proves us all wrong the day :-)

Come on Celtic, let’s get into this mob and back to the summit:))

Not surprised to see de Vries start, Managers tend to play the players they bring in. If de Vries has a couple of good games, he can make the jersey his.
Not sure if O’Connell is injured if not he must be one disappointed lad. Was thrown in at the deep end and was not found wanting but didn’t make bench in Israel and no place for him today either.
Overall the team looks very strong, Aberdeen will be really up for this, it should be a cracking game.

Truth be told i’m not fan of either as they both hide, We need someone else in before window closes. Armstrong was better and Rogic tires as well. Brown usually ends up as a 1 man midfield, Bitton is at least round a bout him.

Bitton is, imho, an out and out liability. Too slow, turning circle of a super tanker, decent shot from distance but far from the type of midfielder we need to compete well in Europe. Squad player at best. SPL defo his level. We can and must procure better,

Well yes, there’s that.
There’s also the small matter of Gordon being an absolute bomb scare who has lost his mojo.

I think young Oconnell had a bit of a nightmare last Saturday and BR taking him out of the firing line plus Erik needs games so he can then pick his best, a bit short at the back so need a few fit centre halves to at least choose from
Stuart Armstrong is that good he’s no even on the bench:))

Celtic park should be rocking today.
A good test for us.
We should have no adverse effects from Israel as it’s to early in the season for fatigue.

Dropping the popular big goalie who saved the pen that put you in the CL for the next big game is a gamble, both on the pitch and with the squad mentality.
I’d rather see De Vries introduced at home against the likes of Hamilton or Caley where he gets to practice his distribution with his feet.
Throwing him in in this one in front of a sell-out crowd is asking for trouble. I’m presuming BR blame sCg for Hapoel’s second.
Tough call.
corkcelt on
I tend to disagree Oglach, I would rate Bitton ahead of McGregor. Re Armstrong, he hasn’t made bench again today, wouldn’t be surprised to see him going out on loan.
A wee bit disappointed that Henderson didn’t make the bench, Brendan is tough, I think he is still annoyed at the daft penalty he gave away at Perth.

DORUS de Vries will make his Celtic debut today in Paradise against Aberdeen after being named in the starting XI by Brendan Rodgers. The Dutchman, signed earlier this month from Nottingham Forest, is preferred between the sticks to Craig Gordon, who is named among the substitutes.
His inclusion is one of three changes made by the manager to the team that lined-up away to Hapoel Be’er Sheva four days ago as the Hoops booked their place in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Erik Sviatchenko and Tom Rogic, who both came on as substitutes in the Turner Stadium, are also restored to the team at the expense of Saidy Janko and Callum McGregor.
The champions will be aiming to maintain their 100 per cent start to the league campaign and return to the top of the table this afternoon by securing three points against the Dons, runners-up for the past two seasons.
Kick off in Paradise is 3pm and the club’s official Twitter account @celticfc will have all the pre-match coverage and in-game updates as the Hoops aim to head into the international break on a high.
