    Missed most of the first half as I was occupied.

     

     

    Looks like we are going to get an awful lot of teams coming to Celtic park and playing yet more anti football.

     

     

    Aberdeen want to ruin the game and get a crap goal on the break.

    I dont think Dons are playing anti football to be honest. They’ve two up front and are counterattacking. We may be trying 1 up front v the mighty HJK.

    Pretty poor stuff so far, midfield hasn’t got going at all, Hooper and Stokes feeding off scraps. Can’t get Izzy or Matthews too far forward either because of the Sheep’s wide men.

     

     

    That said, it’s not like we’ve been put under any great pressure (though big vic still gives me jitters when he plays at the back) but we really need to up the tempo come second half.

    Pretty clueless attacking play, pity big charlie is out today as his set plays are sorely missed.

     

     

    Lack of direct play is worrying, too much p— about.

    Not football…..

     

     

    Haven’t seem much of the Olympics so far but just saw some of the 100m heats.

     

     

    As they were introducing the athletes to the crowd, one stood out a mile for his sheer joy. Adam Gemili – none of this casual or even arrogant wave to the crowd, he couldn’t keep the smile off his face and was obviously delighted to be there.

     

     

    I hadn’t heard of him before, but apparently until just over a year ago he wanted to be a professional footballer. He left Chelsea because it was taking up too much time and his Mum was worried about his school word suffering. He moved to Reading – closer to home, then to Dagenham. He only joined the athletics club to work on his pace.

     

     

    It was just so refreshing to see someone enjoying the sport for what it is. A good 2nd place in the heat – would love to see him make the final and even the podium.

    Wanyama/Rogne is, in my opinion, our best CB pairing when Celtic go 4-4-2. Wanyama has pace, solid and can pass, Rogne good positional play and intelligent defender.

     

     

    The weakness in this line-up is Matthews/Commons on the right. Commons can’t cross very well on his weaker foot, while Matthews doesn’t do enough in an attacking sense. However, Brown and Forrest are sidelined so not much choice.

     

     

    A big improvement, imo, would be to take of Izzy, Stokes and Matthews, bring on Lustig, Wilson (yes, but hear me out), and Twardzik, go 4-3-1-2 with Commons central, would provide more creativity going forward.

    I only saw five or ten minutes at the end. It looked like a park the bus effort to me.

     

    Typical Craig Brown tripe but I could be wrong.

    Ian Crocker: “Celtic have nine different nationalities in their team, Aberdeen have 6 Scots.” What’s such a statement meant to provoke apart from some specious pseudo-patriotic xenophobia? The guy should be dumped in the 3rd Div with his favourite team.

    Aberdeen haven’t been troubled Celtic need to move up a gear to start the league with a win.

     

     

    Stokes Hooper combo not had a sniff, and no linkage. It’ll take a break but like Wednesday two goals into the Celtic end, will do it.
