Good morning to you too, bud. Enjoy that, did you?

    Magic!

  2. I really enjoyed the BT coverage, proper football men talking about Celtic:))

Not the constipated shite that passes for football coverage in Scotland..

I met Stevie G when he was just breaking through.

My Scouse pal went to school with him.

He is a top lad, no doubt.

    Mon the Scouse Tims:)

I just couldn’t imagine Brother Walfrid or Jock Stein coming out with, or wanting to be associated with, that kind of sentiment.

It’s a bit like the ‘tomorrow belongs to us’ line being used by the Club.

For me, it just jars a bit.

    Not a big deal though.

Family outing for my lot,the Killie game. Short drive up the road, few snifters pre-match in The Park Hotel, few afterwards and home.

They’ve managed to get hands on tickets thankfully. Despite being on the list for away tickets, the club have never managed to find their details in the ballot.

I’ll be watching it in the pub in Swindon,as long as I don’t take too long moving house for a disabled oul’ fella I know. Took us about 18 months to get him out of a damp-riddled,vermin-infested bedsit and into sheltered accommodation.

He’ll be in his element. Place is full of widows!

Aye mate I’m going with wee Shades.

We can just do a wee mini huddle, then spread out a bit for Come on you Bhoys in Green .

  7. First chance I’ve had to post since yesterday. Thanks for the enquiries Jamesgang , I managed to get a ticket.

Great atmosphere last night with the GB playing a big part, loved every minute of it. Took some video footage of the singing which was immense. I will show it to my son’s in Oz when I get back, got an inkling they might like it :-)

Some top performances last night , particularly impressed with Griff,Sinky, Forrest,Jozo and Nthcam who has the makings of a very good player.

What an absolute privilege to be at that game last night. From one happy Bhoy!

The Park Hotel. Expensive for a pre-match breakfast.

Aye,it is. But a round for four in The Park is cheaper than watching it in Swindon wi my mates. BIGJIMMY’s 10-pint sesh would just be a warm-up for that lot.

That’s why I’m so delighted we look like qualifying for the CL. EL would mean Sunday matches, and I can’t drink like that on a Sunday and drive at night. As it is,no drink on a Sunday after a Celtic game on a Saturday.

Even though I could kill for one, believe me!!!

  10. ” BANKIEBHOY1 on 17TH AUGUST 2017 10:46 AM

We won by quite a margin and still could have played much better.

    Gotta love that.”

    My thoughts,also.

I know what you mean about the `Take Over` ( and the inference that it could be the GB talking of themselves) and `Tomorrow` banners . I felt something similar myself but, overall, I was satisfied that the message was more one of defiance than of any supremacist attitude. There is also the fact that it was lifted from the statement of an Irish boxer.

Lets just say, when an establishment likes to overcharge with abandon and attempt to take advantage of Celtic supporters.

It doesnt always work out like that:)

The Green Brigades statement the other day made the point that they were happy to be returning and looking forward to playing their own ‘small part’ in helping the team reach the group stages of the CL.

    HH

  13. Well one foot into the group stage, keep our foot on the pedal and no easing up, outstanding performance from the team last night to a man they where brilliant, and the fans all of them, played a great part in another amazing European night at paradise.

They way fitba has been heading the last decade I had given up

hope that we would see a Celtic side of the quality MON team,

starting to rethink my thought’s……a wee bit to go yet but definitely

    getting there.

  15. Hot Smoked.

I’m familiar with the boul’ Conor’s routine and his use of that message from the Tifo last night.

For him it suits perfectly his bravado and audacity – not sure at all it fits with Celtic.

I was uncomfortable with the message. Personally, I don’t think it feels or sounds like us. I get the confidence and GIRUY aspect but, it’s always good to be confident but feel that we can express that differently in our choice of imagery / message.

TBH I think it smacks of something that the Deady Bears might spout. Similarly I didn’t agree with the use of the Tifo that talked of rolling out the Flag of War for similar reasons.

We’ve beat thum, they were liquidated fighting us. We have ( imo) far better more appropriate mesaging that we can draw the worlds attention to while not equivocating us with a collection of cheats from yesteryear.

Don’t get me wrong, when Celtic Park is on-song there is nothing, nowhere like it.

I think the Gb might pick and choose their targets differently.

    HH.

  16. The banner clearly depicted Brendan, Broonie and Kieran – for me it’s about matters on the pitch nothing to do with the GB ‘taking over’

A great, very generous mate invited me to hospitality in the Park Hotel on the day of Martin’s fourth-in-a-row, when Stan did the biz.

Had a great day, (I think!).

Not forgotten, J. ( well, some of it, maybe!).

Great night, took the wife, daughter and 3 g’kids. All in all prob cost about £200 but their joy at being at their first euro night was worth every penny. Daughter said they were still all awake at 12.30am buzzing about the experience.

What a great few years they have to look forward to. This really is special time to be a Celtic fan, enjoy it while it lasts.

What about the Griff having a wee shoving match in the second half with the 6ft 5 defender, remember shouting ‘pick on somedae yer ain size Leigh’.Toughening up and more combative than before but still has that eye for goal……….apart from the one he skied, looked much worse when viewed on tv given where I sit at CP.

The Celtic team are built like boxers strong as oxen, check out the thighs as an example on KT , where did he get these, it shows on the park physically bullied by no one and allied to ability a fabulous combination, take a bow the conditioning sports science people, as well a BR his coaches the players the fans .

The Green Brigade were everything I’d want them to be last night. Noise, colour, atmosphere , no flares, brilliant non-contentious banner.

They will be a real weapon for us in the CL, and no negative headlines! (Unless the SMSM invent some).

  24. Thems in the know, talk about “total football”. Surely last night was exactly that!!!

    Brilliant professional performance, 100% chuffed.

Well done Br and the bhoys

    Great stuff bud.

The atmosphere stays with you for ages after you leave the ground

I remember going to my first European matches at CP. I was probably 8 or 9. The height of a ‘pit bit’ walking along the London road through a sea of legs, hanging onto my dads hand with a vice like grip in fear of being separated. Though I can’t see where I’m going, a glance up to the sky and the floodlights are warming up letting me know I’m going the correct way.

Lifted over, placed at the front and listening to the atmosphere build. Never any thoughts of losing. This is the mid to late 60’s and it needs a pretty special team to beat us. As we emerged from the tunnel, there was a look of invincibility. The bright green and white hoops under the floodlights has always been a special sight.

Afterwards, I can still recall the weird silence as you left the ground. It felt odd. Strange feeling. Like I’m in a vacuum. Still seeing the green an white hoops in my head, but the noise has disappeared. Am I deaf?

I can tune into what your family were feeling afterwards. That first game is an awesome experience.

  26.
