We are now talking about small margins and fixable tweaks in order to progress in Europe . Unfortunately some of the fixable elements include quality recruitment and that goes beyond the talents of the team who worked their socks off tonight or the excellent coaching /tactical abilities of the manager .
We are getting the most out of what we have at the moment but we need to continue to upgrade the squad , with a bit more top end and a bit less bottom end . That will take another couple of transfer windows .
Atletico did not bring out that strip specifically to commemorate 1974. Every club in UEFA competition has to register 3 strips at the start of the season and must use only those strips in European competition for the season.
Yes, they probably decided to use that one tonight but according to Madrid media it was for superstitious reasons, having beaten Celtic before in that strip.
It was the Scottish media who pumped it up to being a celebration of that night in 1974. Nobody else.
We fall for their dirty tricks every time as they look for a headline. Every. Feckin. Time.
in hindsight we should have put on a 3rd centre back against Lazio and took the point other than chasing a winner and losing all 3.
Really enjoyed watching us tonight. Very credible in all 3 matches in the group. Keep building Celtic!

Anyhoo… Good performance , could have got 3 points , didn’t have many clear chances second half to win it so a draw it was .
That’s how atletico play the game , it’s how he puts them out to play , they are the Huns with better technical ability ,like 74 they can play the game but they would rather play games .

Athletico were a fantastic, skillfull, energetic, and intelligent team, we matched them for lots of the game putting on our own wee shows, tiring towards the end, and we ran them into the ground. Were definitely moving in the correct direction. The players we bought this year will be more experienced for next season, etc etc. Couple of additions needed in the next couple of windows. but not too much needing tweeked imo.

GT constantly gave the ball away.
The rest put in a shift and can be proud.

Great game tonight but when we should be talking about a fantastic performance at least 50% of the coverage will be about the GB’s open defiance to the Board.
Time to shut the GB down . I would refund their season tickets and tell the to gtf…..
we are getting great plaudits from the panel on TNT match nights , saying we have played some of the best football of any of the teams in the champions league this and last season

Watched the game in Spain, so without the bias of commentary. Thought we were excellent in spells and overall very good. We tired at about 60 mins and Brendan wasn’t able to freshen the team adequately. Though he had more on the bench that he used, Bernardo for Reo was a huge risk and I though it backfired. He showed little in creativity. I also thought Maeda was poor. Too many bad decisions and lost the ball on multiple occasions.
Thought their penalty was a weak decision, but Taylor was exposed yet again at this level several times. Callum was also ineffective. Despite having a few players off their game, we had a great chance to win the game. We are close to having a CL team and streets ahead of anything else in Scotland. We’ll get there.
Their manager is a first class idiot.
Which is why I delete it all
BT Highlights programme analysts very complimentary towards us. Some of the best football in the competition to date has come from Celtic according to one of them. I think we can certainly give Lazio a game and look to finish strong against Feyenoord.
We showed we belong and our Euro journey is only beginning

We are on the right track with Brendan.

Superb night no surprising in Parkhead where the Hoops turned the clock back against the odds, and some naughty old La Liga foe.
Tynecastle style BR played his best side, the best Celtic way and again scored before the opposition, any opposition had settled. Kyogo to O’Riley twice and back again saw a dink developed in Lennoxtown from the Japanese talisman’s unfavoured left foot, which meant much more early door ecstasy.
Celtic were playing silky Brendanball and the yellow card count started with the Madrid side, who took twenty minutes before a debatable penalty got them a Greg Taylor foothold. No slacking saw Maeda running like he did round Gorgie and his cut back for anybody, was tailor made for a composed Luis Palma, who had already picked the same spot as had Kyogo, not long before.
Simeone responded with complementary subs and tactical switches that brought the game level again but couldn’t keep the cards in the referee’s pockets, still no idea why De Paul wasn’t dragged off, before he eventually
left.
Reo Hatate’s early recurring hamstring at least gave game time to Bernardo and the Portuguese wasted no time in grabbing the jersey he’ll wear again at Easter Rd come the weekend. O’Riley was awesome in midfield, and Liam Scales has new contract stamped all over himself.
With most of our bhoys already out on their feet and the Spanish club deservedly down to ten men, a draw just like Lazio was expected, except this time we got what we deserved at the very least.
