Paul Weller – You Do Something To Me

One of the most authentic love songs ever written. Ta!

  2. mmmm…James Forrest, the blogger….starts a live game blog. (sans comments for noo) Am thinking coat-tails and too late.

  3. Well done to The Hoops against a STRONG Opponent.

AK could/should have scored a couple, but their finishing wasnt good enough…although we could have scored another Two Goals also ?

For me Kyogo showed once again that he is MORE of a threat thru the middle rather than being stuck out on the wing ?

ANTONIOUS Ralston….take a Bow son…you were terrific ..and my man of the match, and Stevie Welsh and Kyogo, and Calmac….and Joe Hart right up there also.

Not forgetting Big Tam Rogic….on his game he really is ” Poetry in Motion”…his control, run and cross for Kyogos goal was Top drawer.

AK looked a very strong and capable, skilful team who will cause us problems in the return game, but IF The Celts can score a Goal over there, it could be enough ?

    What Big Jimmy said.

Big Jimmy – How you feeling pal?

    D :)

  5. Taking last night’s performance warts & all, it was a great Celtic European night and we all needed one.

With Ralston, Welsh, McGregor & Forrest all coming from through Development and Taylor & Turnbull young Scottish graduates, we can be well pleased – of course we can add Johnston, Montgomery & Murray to the former & Christie to the latter. All will benefit from the Ange era.

When was the last time we had six Development graduates in our first-team squad?

If we consider Scales, Urhoguide & Shaw, this is a young & hopefully hungry squad in the making.

From what looked like devastation a matter of weeks ago, we now see a core squad – two more permanent signings, a couple of loans, and we could be ‘ready to rock’!

    ……….

Doctor told me years ago to ” STOP Smoking, drinking and running aboot with Dirty Wummin”

I replied…” Im gonna look hell of a funny lying in my coffin…Deed with NOTHING ” !

One Mourner to another…” whit did Big Jimmy die of” ?

” Nothing” was the reply !

    LOL.

Magic Davie Bhoy I am so glad that you and the family are all well.

    HH Mate.

  10. AZ have a clear weekend now to prepare to for the second leg. We’ve St Mirren at home and should use it to freshen things up.

McCarthy needs game time, bring Christie back in and I’d rest Rogic and Kyogo. I’d be tempted to play Soro for CalMac as well. Next week is huge on both domestic and European fronts, we’ll need options from the bench and they’ll need to be up to speed.

The defence can’t be changed so it’s clear where we need to strengthen.

  11. if a celtic player is not awarded a gaol because it was a deflected shot, well why is that not given as an assist.

    —-

This I didn’t understand last night. Was Craig Levein on the adjudication panel ?!

That was Forrest’s goal last night. To say it was going wide before the deflection doesn’t take into account the proximity of the defender and how little distance the ball travelled before it was almost immediately deflected- for all we know Jamesy’s shot would have curved into the net unaided had it not been deflected. It seemed a rather churlish decision not to award him his goal.

  12. Celtic, Celtic, that’s the team for me

    Celtic, Celtic, onto Vic-tor-eee

    Hail Hail

  13. I have posted before that I would need to reappraise Anthony Ralston’s ability

The appraisal is in with 2 results

1- apology owed to young Anthony, completely underestimated both his skills and determination as a footballer, well done young man for embracing the challenge

2- I know even less than I thought about the beautiful game [he haw]

    loving the Ange ball

  14. This season’s big fight — AP’s Aussie boosterism / swagger vs the Scottish cringe.

1965 — biggest change JS made was attitude.

Out went the board attitude of entertaining minstrels playing to the gallery — sometimes.

In comes an attitude of winning every game / fighting for every decision — all done by playing good football.

Even when BR was here — we lacked attitude and confidence when playing outside the SPL.

BR would not change his style in the face of better opposition and the team didn’t buy into it.

Consequently when we came up against a great team we looked half cooked / naked in the face of their ability.

I think AP will try and take us to a place beyond that bar — if we play to his pattern with his level of timing / precision / energy — we will be able to hurt anyone we come up against.

Huge challenge — trying to change an entrenched mindset.

  15. Would this be the time to play CMcG at LB?

GT — at the moment — just isn’t up to the challenge.

When we are going forward he is learning some tricks and gaining some confidence — slowly.

When we are defending he looks all over the shop — slow / behind the play / adrift in the face of danger.

    So 3 – 4 – 3 formation with CMcG as the LWB?

  16. Huge challenge — trying to change an entrenched mindset.

Aye her right , but go on give it a go …😋

  17. PO12 @ 9.12

Aye right — we don’t need a new coach with a new attitude?

From 500 miles away last season must have been a huge success.

  18. Seems the Greek striker hasn’t signed for Werder Bremen……maybe AP has worked his magic

  19. I love the excitement at the games now, electric, full of expectation and support! por cierto.

  20. onenightinlisbon on

Well done to Ange and the team for the great performance last night.

Superb progress in such a short space of time.

Need to keep our heads, still a long way to go but hugely positive signs.

  21. MAJESTIC HARTSON @ 8:27am

    🎼

He comes from the land down under

His name sounds Greek and he wears a magic jumper

    🎶🎵

MAJESTIC HARTSON, that had me laughing 😂 out loud and spluttering out my morning coffee ☕! That is just brilliant! 😊 👍🍀

  22. Was a bit sceptical about Joe Hart, but he could prove to be our most important signing this Window, showing leadership, which we need right now.

  23. Jocks Immortal Lions on

Agree with AN DUN , we probably need to freshen up the team at the weekend. There is caution though, we do not want to lose the momentum we have built in the last couple of weeks which to many changes could affect. Who’d be a manager eh? In AP we trust HH

  24. Good morning from a soft day in the south west of Ireland.

Does anyone else think that the ball crossed the line in that goalmouth free for all involving Eddie last night ?

How come we don’t have goalmouth technology ?

  25. jeez_I_thought_blinker_was_pants on

    MM @9:11

    No

The last guy that tried that should have cleared his desk after the Cluj game

  26. Ma @ 10.05

The stramash last night — must have made the news this morning.

Absolutely mental that we never managed to get a goal out of all the efforts.

I thought that the second attempt definitely crossed the line.

However there were no replays and no pictures / video from the goal-line.

On a related topic — the commentary on CTV was much improved with a professional doing the honours.

BBJ was mildly irritating with his repeated comments trying to patronise the main man with CFC player detail. Overall it was a huge improvement having a professional / outsider involved as he offered a much more balanced analysis of the game.

Fans with microphones is not what we need.

  27. McGregor is playing some of the best football we’ve seen from him in a long time and is clearly relishing his role on and off the pitch.

In the last few hours I’ve read we should strip him of the captaincy or play him left-back.

We have deficiencies in the team but why try to butcher one of the good things about it?
