    Good Morning.

Strange things happen at Celtic Park.

Spirits of the past occasionally rise up and make their presence felt with the result that those in Green and White run faster, jump higher, and perform at a higher standard than others thought possible.

Of course you have to have talent and organisation to make that happen.

But when you believe, when you know inside that you can and will make a difference, that you can claim a moment in time which will live in the memory and be talked about for years by the generations to come — that is when you grow to fit the Celtic shirt and earn the right to take your place on the turf on behalf of the thousands watching.

And that is when the millions at home watching realise that they are not watching a company, a business, or even 11 men acting under the instruction of a manager and his backroom staff.

No, they are watching a phenomena, a wonder, a spirit and an inexplicable force of nature.

As the Spanish themselves said in one magazine, it is the most unexplained yet results proven greatest home advantage in world sport.

They built it themselves and … yes they did come.

    And they call it………. Paradise.

  3. Owen

I was off my seat in the pub within seconds of his arrival the wee guy ran at Barcelona lik

demon. Pressurised them into making a mistake and we almost capitalised on it.

Oh dear – Is that our expectation level at home in 90 mins ?

I’m off to bed before I suffer the same blindness as others on this site but before I go I’ll say this – we lost 3 first team regulars that took us to the last 16 last year and have only 1 replacement in the team, will we qualify again ? What do you think ????

  4. Doc, soft but could argue both ways ?

I find it disappointing that quite a few of our players seem to struggle to complete 90mins.

I understand the argument for subbing Lustig (one who seems to struggle for said 90min completion), but if he was still on, don’t think we would have lost goal to Fabregas ? From where I was sitting though Efe should have managed to get head to it, looks a better goal on tele though.

on the one road, now to face Ajax

    Hail Hail

Aye, they hunt in packs, it works.

Barca are a joy to watch, they play the game the way it should be played IMO.

Not a hope in hell of me ever going back, why would I, everything here is what I want, i do miss the football and the Guinness, the isolation is what I was after and I have it.

  6. Two Barca fans in pub to shutting time. They were in pub last year. Their attitude was its Barca so expect a result. They did admit they were rotten on the night.

Told them Milan favourites in head to head after what I saw. They hang everything on Messi being fit.

You know what, we are gonnae win this group. HH

    REALITY CHECK!!!!

We are playing the best team in the world tonight – we lost 1-0.

By any measure we could have been PUMPED…

We’ve come a long way – enjoy the ride..we will be better next year on the back of tonight. It is incredibly taxing playing a team that is better than – far less te world’s best team.

We are doing great – IMO

You are having a laugh – why do you thing the ref had stern words with him early in the first half? It was because he clearly dived – so he is a cheat – simple. Was at it all night.

I enjoy his skills- fantastic- but he, and Danny Alves for that matter,, are diving ratbags. It irritates me because they are both such skilful players – everyone in football knows they are both divers, though.

    Have not read back.

Celtic done as well as could be expected of them tonight.

I thought the ref was okay.

    The crowd as always magnificent.

I met two German Celtic fans tonight. Guenter and Hans Peter. These guys no more about tic. Scottish culture etc. than I do. Two of the nicest guys you could not hope to meet. Well worth it just to meet these two amazing fanatical Celtic fans.

So are we going to look at the stars or gaze at our shoes ?

    We have went backwards.

Wanyama and only Wanyama would have made the difference tonight I believe. Broonie was immense. Why is he three times quicker at closing the opposition down than any other Celtic player ?

Goal was not due to ten men but ball watching. Too many SPL games. The jump in qaulity on an ad hoc basis is always the killer.

What about the FFP league ?

Proud of the support and players …never cease to amaze me.

Well done Barca they play the beautiful game.

Happy to be part of it but cant we do more ? YES BIG TIME

  14. i was seriously wound up about something that was said about broonie soon after his sending off tonight, the words used by the poster , maybe not knowing what browns family went through just three years ago, really really upset me.

i was going to repost, but now i feel silly to do so.

the reminder of the MIKI67 tribute , humbles me.

and along with many CQNers passed on recently , i remember them.

spelling wrong i know but people i liked to see their views.

like snake, i am beginning to get fed up listening to the bombastic predujiced views of a few on here,

maybe a sabbatical is in order.

    keep it lit.

The young guy was only on the pitch and he went at Barca like a demon, in my book that is a good thing. I like a player who will chase harry and generally “get inta them” when required. You do not like someone to come on with only a few minutes left and try to make an impact?

For the other 85+ mins I was generally happy with my teams play, were you?

  18. DeniaBhoy in awe of wee Oscar's Courage on

Johann Murdoch – no problem, life is all about opinions. I remember, as I’m sure you do, Maradona, Ronaldinho , Romario, Rossi and numerous other top players acting to con refs. Neymar clips were played on Spanish TV as nauseum when he signed and he is one heck of a player. Time will tell but when Real Madrid and Barcelona both are desperate to sign you then I would be willing to bet he’s got more in his locker than what we saw tonight.

  19. Back from game, 2 vinos tanned. Feeling better already.

Firstly. Is there anywhere better to watch a game than Celtic park on champions league night? Absolutely electric from the first minute to the last.

The team gave their all, and look quite comfortable peeing up against the tall trees with the big dogs. Unfortunately, the teams with the €50 players tend to eek out the results.

I think we could have held out had Broony not been…..well. Broony. But then again, if ma auntie hud………

  21. Weeron. You know what we should have really done

Taken all the money from our 3 unproven non scoring forwards( lucky if any of them become 1st eleven regulars). And used to to buy a 1st eleven goal scorer. Maybe Alfie. As he is proven striker. Unlike pukkI who is a proven non scorer

  22. Strong, disciplined performance tonight, very similar to last season. Barcelona struggle against us despite the possession they enjoy.

In possession of the ball, we were below par tonight, no question about that at all. We surrendered the ball too easily and strangely looked much more comfortable without the ball.

Our game will need to change for the visit of Ajax. I think our lack of striking quality may be exposed against Ajax. We will get chances, but not confident that we will take them. None of our strikers had a single opportunity tonight.

If we do manage 4 or 6 points against Ajax we will need to beat Milan by 2 clear goals otherwise the head to head will see us come second best to them if we are level on points.

All in all – I would accept the Europa League if offered it right now.

As for Celtic Park – from the opening display and the walk on to the final moments and the “We are Celtic Supporters”, from the recognition of a wonderful football talent that is Iniesta to the recognition of a play-acting cheat of an individual that is Neymar – and everything in between – the fantastic arena lived up to it’s billing.

  23. Owen

I like a player that’s good enough to start !!! Will Pukki fill Hoopers boots ? Not a chance ! 3rd choice signing and that’s why he’s coming on with only a few minutes left ! SPFL standard.

  24. johann murdoch on

Deniabhoy- yes agree – ditch the theatrics and he could be great – just hate to see the old shot by sniper routine on a football park – a rugby player would have picked him

Up and threw him into the crowd hh

  25. Good morning Timland from a hot, but getting cooler, and humid spot in the desert.

,Well, that’s it then… the morning after feeling just kicking in!!

Route to happiness is now perfectly clear, Ajax, home and away, and victory over Milan and we’re through. Can’t see anything preventing it.

    COYBIG.
