It is because of the reasoning in my post that I do not know perfectly well, which means I have a different core belief based on reasons that you have not argued against.

You demonstrate my very point in your response. Its up to you whether you examine your core belief or not and it is that belief that sets your default position which you think I must hold and what I said is not what I think.

Do I think that DD or PL or anyone at Celtic has not made mistakes? Of course I don’t but I do not give those mistakes the meaning that some do because my reasoning tells me the meanings applied are illogical and unreasonable and come from somewhere other than reason.

  9. Satanic secrets of the Orange

    Order

    Ex-loyalist insider Peter Malcomson

claims witchcraft lies at the root of

    Unionist rituals, reports Henry McDonald

    Northern Ireland: special report

A former Orangeman who accuses his

order of ‘satanic and pagan rituals’ is

    bringing his crusade to Scotland.

    Paul Malcomson has been campaigning

    in Northern Ireland to persuade

fundamentalists in the Orange Order to

throw away their sashes and bowler

hats. A born-again Christian Loyalist, he

now poses a bigger threat to the

    Protestant organisation than the fiercest

    nationalist residents’ groups.

    Malcomson recently published a book,

Behind Closed Doors, which claims to lift

the lid on the Orange Order, which

    claims 80,000 members in Scotland.

He hopes the book will have a similar

effect on the reputation of the Orange

Order as The Brotherhood did on the

reputation of the masons. This weekend

the 38-year-old author also launched a

    website – http://www.evangelicaltruth.org.uk

to warn Christians about the dangers of

    Orangeism.

Speaking from his home in Banbridge,

Co. Down – an area with a strong Orange

tradition – Malcomson explained why he

had turned so vehemently against the

    order.

‘Eight years ago my father, who was an

Elim Pentecostal minister, died. After his

death I decided to take stock of my life, to

look at the way I was living. At the time

I was in the Orange Order and a member

of a local flute band. Simultaneously I

    became a born-again Christian and

started to question my views and in

particular why I was an Orangeman.

‘The more I read the more I became

concerned at the rituals and practices

inside the order. The whole secrecy

aspect of Orangeism started to worry me

deeply because Christ worked openly and

preached an open Gospel. The secret

oaths of Orangeism, the exclusion of

    women from certain grades, the

exclusivity, made me think that they

were violating the word of God.’

    Malcomson was concerned most about

the rituals of the Royal Arch Purple, an

elite branch of Orangeism of which he

was once a member. He noticed a

similarity between the rites of the Royal

    Arch Purple and Freemasonry, including

    several bizarre practices he later

revealed in his book. These included:

    • Blindfolding a new recruit and making

him kneel on a mock coffin while vowing

to destroy his own life if he divulges the

    teachings of the order;

    • Tying a rope around the neck of the

recruit, who, as in Freemasonry, has

most of his clothes and one shoe taken

from him and has a purple ribbon

    fastened to his shirt;

    • Riding the goat – a ritual in which the

blindfolded initiate is wrapped in a

canvas sheet and then kicked and tossed

about by the assembled members of the

    Order;

    • Beating the candidate across the legs

with brambles and, in some cases, holly

to the accompaniment of laughter and

    even goat-like bleatings.

    Malcomson believes these rituals have

their roots in witchcraft rather than

    Protestantism.

‘The Orange Order says it is the defender

of the Protestant faith but these secret

oaths and strange rituals are more to do

    with paganism and are ultimately

satanic. I want to inform Evangelical

Christians that their faith is incompatible

with membership of an order that

    tolerates organisations like the Arch

    Purple.’

    Malcomson claims that hundreds of

born-again Christians have left the Order

since his book was launched this year.

He is unapologetic that his campaign

may speed the decline of the already

embattled order, which is still reeling

from blows to its reputation arising from

violence at Drumcree in recent years.

‘I know that I can cause them more

damage than the likes of Brendan

McKenna could ever do but that’s been

my calling for the last seven years and

    it’s going to continue.’

Cecil Kilpatrick, author of a book about

King William of Orange and a member of

the Royal Arch Purple, said that he

    provided research material for

    Malcomson’s book.

‘If we were such a secretive organisation

then why did we give him so many

documents so he could write his book?

The trouble with Paul is that instead of

seeing reds under every bed, he sees

    devils everywhere.’

George Patton, the spokesman for the

Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, said

Malcomson was reading too much into

    the institution’s symbolism.

‘He complains about the use of the

symbol of a ladder but I see that as

representing Jacob’s ladder in the bible

while he sees it as coming from

witchcraft,’ Patton said. ‘He has got

carried away with the importance of the

    rituals and the symbols.’

    After his campaign in Scotland,

Malcomson plans to write a book on the

Royal Black Preceptory, the most elite of

    all the Protestant marching institutions.

‘It’s going to be even more explosive than

    the last one,’ he said.

  15. After DD gave an interview with the CSA which was then subsequently misreported in the press mainly by one Daryl Broadfoot Dermot Desmond has been reluctant to speak with any of the Scottish media as seen here in his response to the reaction of the media to his CSA interview

    To all Celtic Fans:

I gave an honest interview to the Celtic Supporters Association on 14

November 2005 without any preconditions. I referred in my interview to the

unbalanced coverage that Celtic gets in certain sections of the Scottish

Press; that the Scottish Press like to create trouble within Celtic; that

there would be some form of distortion in the media coverage of my

interview; that the papers would find something to create a division

between myself and the fans. Unfortunately I was proved right. Anyone who

has taken the trouble to read the interview in full will realise how my

comments were taken out of context and distorted.

When I have criticised the press before, they retort by saying I should

engage with them and give interviews. The unbalanced coverage of my latest

interview shows that the press will print what they like, regardless of

whether you provide them with material or not.

I will be making complaints against individual journalists and their

    papers including:

    James Traynor, Scottish Daily Record

Gerry McNee, Scottish News of the World

Andy McInnes, Daily Star Scotland and Scottish Daily Express

    Tosh McKinlay, Glasgow Evening Times

    Roddy Forsyth, Ireland on Sunday

    Ally Guthrie, Irish Daily Star

The BBC agreed to amend its website to provide a link to the full

interview, rather than just setting out some quotes.

I am now going to clarify what actually was discussed during my interview.

The main comment which has been latched onto by the press is that I am

accused of saying that Celtic fans are ignorant. I never said that Celtic

fans are ignorant per se. What I did say was that it was ignorant for the

fans to say that all the problems are resolved by me putting money into

the Club, that will never be the case; I said that most of the fans are

not financially astute, that the fans have never looked at a balance sheet

and a profit and loss statement. How you the supporters spend your money

is purely your decision. In the same way that I respect your choice,

supporters should respect that I have the same choice as to how I spend my

    money.

I note that there was no rush by the Scottish Press to publish the

positive comments I made about the Celtic fans: how I said we had a good

fan base and that “My message would be to continue to be the best

supporters in the world. It would be for everyone to work as a team and

not to seek division or see it as them and us, we’re all working

together.” I commented on seeing all the Celtic supporters in Seville and

their behaviour and seeing the goodwill and the dignity in which the

Celtic fans wore the green and white, and how that was a matter of pride

for me and also pride in the performance of the team.

As I said in my interview, I am passionate about Celtic succeeding. I said

that we have looked at avenues to develop Celtic through the European

Commission, into the English Premier League and we continue to do that. We

are looking at all of the options for the Club, we have never stopped. I

also said “What matters to a Club in my personal view is that its

traditions are maintained, that its development is maintained, and it

recognises all its constituents because constituents at a football club

are the supporters, the players, the manager, staff and the directors”.

I will repeat what I said at the end of my interview: “Everything that I

have done with the Board at the Club has been to bring Celtic to the

pinnacle, that’s our goal. We’ve never compromised on our goal. Everything

we do is to make Celtic independent, flourishing and the most successful

    football club in the world”.

Finally I would like to open a debate with you about the journalists who

have consistently failed to give balanced coverage of Celtic in the media

and who have sought to create divisions within the Club. Do you think they

should be banned from Celtic Park? Do you think Celtic Fans should

    continue to buy such papers?

I would like to thank the Celtic fans who have taken the time to read the

interview thoroughly and welcome your honest opinions, whether good or

    bad.

  16. Talk of Tony Mowbray earlier.

Any retrospective of TMs time at Celtic that doesnt aknowledge the fact that he was manager during “The year of the Honest Mistake” is seriously flawed.

TM was simply not able to cope with the blatant cheating that was going on around him. I dont know if his “take it on the chin” comments were the result of his failure to recognise what was happening in front of his eyes or him biting his tongue because he could.

The end result though was that both team and management could never build up any kind of momentum. Any semplence of confidence went right out the window to the point that the St Mirren result was inevitable.

The huns might have had a good laugh but they were greedy.

    Don’t Let it Be Forgot

    SUNDAY, 28 JULY 2013

    Do unto others…

Brendan Behan, writer, poet, drinker and Irish Rebel used to say that the first item on the agenda at every meeting of the Dublin IRA was ‘the split.’ He may have been joking but there is a certain argumentative side to those who have Irish blood in their veins. This weekend was not a pleasure on Twitter as a minority engaged in fairly acrimonious debate about issues affecting the Celtic support. As Celtic supporters, each of us has the right to an opinion on the club and the issues surrounding it. It matters not a jot if we go to every game or for whatever reason can’t manage to go to any. If we love the green then we are Celtic Supporters, the equal of any other. Celtic means so much to so many that at times passions can spill over into angry words. Didier Agathe once said after a section of a tetchy home support booed Neil Lennon after he passed the ball back to the keeper when we needed a goal in a European tie… ‘The problem is not that they dislike any player, it is that they love the club too much.’ Sometimes this passion for the club can make us hold strong positions on certain issues. For some Celtic is the repository of Irish identity in a hostile land, for others it is a bridge between cultures which aided Irish assimilation into Scottish life. For more it is an ideal, a place where those of all faiths and none, of all political opinions can unite behind a team built on principles of Charity and integration.

The point is that the club belongs to all of us and we don’t all feel the same about the issues affecting it. From players coming and going to the situation in Section 111 there are as many opinions as there are fans. That is good as debate is healthy. What isn’t great is the abuse of others who hold differing views from us. Celtic fans more than most know what it’s like to be subject to verbal abuse. Last week’s lies about the songs sung at Brentford were just the latest in a 125 year old smear campaign by those who hate the club and all it stands for. So the last thing we need is acrimony among ourselves. I’m always amazed at the eloquent points made in just 140 characters by some of the Twitter Celts, or ‘Tweenians’ as some wit called us. Great points are made and debate can be excellent but there are a tiny minority who resort to the foulest of language and that isn’t necessary or welcome. In fact it tells you more about them than the folk they aim their invective at.

So this short blog asks that we try to keep the level of debate up and treat each other with the respect we would want for ourselves. We often fail to realise the power of words, even on social networking sites, to hurt others. If we disagree then say so but without resorting to abuse. That isn’t the Celtic way. We can’t be responsible for the actions of words of others but we can and should be responsible for ourselves. Celtic is fortunate to have a great community of fans who care passionately about the club. They come from all walks of life and reside in just about every country on the globe. When they fuse with the team, as they did when we met Barcelona last season, they are capable of incredible things. Over the years Celtic has had its ups and downs like any club but the one constant was their incredible support. Tommy Burns was asked what makes Celtic so special after the team’s victory in the Cup Final in our Centenary year. He pointed towards the packed terraces of Hampden and said…. ‘Look at them, they’re there, they’re always there and God bless every one of them.’

I would echo those words and ask you to remember them when you interact with our fellow supporters. When there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can’t hurt us.
