Spot on. That’s what I take away from tonight. More than the individual errors it was the nervous collapse after they scored. Even our equaliser from nowhere didn’t galvanise us. I just hope it doesn’t infect the rest of our season and is a one-off. The league Is infinitely more important than the Europa League. The huns will smell blood after that. We need to forget it and get the job done.

  2. We should have won it in the first leg.

Defence was all over the place. Lennon was wring not to play Leigh from the start. Frimpong puts opposition on the bsck foot. Rogic was pedastrian a d has been for a long time. Ajer on the right wing in the first half was a joke.

Ozi was really bad., but he hasnt been playing.

    Such schoolboy mistakes.

I am really pissed off that we started that shite of passing the ball across the back four and then back to the keeper. That is Rodgers crap.

Arghhh. At least I am now in a bar to ease the pain.

9 in a row will have to do, but next year we have to make an impact in Europe.

Jullien was great tonight and Ajer (yellow card aside) was solid. I won’t go there with Jozo.

    julien was crap

Good evening all from a disappointed Star Bar. It could be worse, we could be huns. We move on, we always do. Gerrintaethum on Sunday, the mighty Glasgow Celtic.

  5. Tom’s mistake was trying to control Fraser’s poor kick out.

He’s great for us, sign him up Celtic but big Fraser’s distribution is why he’s playing at Celtic.

  6. That felt very like Cluj. I think that’s what we’ll always get occasionally with Lenny’s Celtic, the odd 45 minutes of craziness, but overall we’ve done very well in Europe this season

The league was always the priority, two less games than them and a hard game before we go there

  7. Rogic did play well. One of our better players in fact. But he’s not and never has been a 90 minute player and his slip at the end cost us the important goal. Not that the pass did him any favours.

I’ll be watching Copenhagen with interest in the next round. I think they could get a dooing.

    Paul Dempsey’s a good interviewer.

  8. I am always immensely hurt to see us lose at celtic park in europe.

But I said the other day on here that I wont lose any sleep if it all goes wrong on thursday.

The team got sucker punched…not as if we didn’t try .

Before we equalised we had a perfectly good goal chopped off and a handball penalty not checked before we got one.

    Football is like that.

Copenhagen played a good game for the limited bunch they are.

I am so much more concerned about all things domestic.

Got o say the danish telly are working through interviewing all players, what do we get? A couple then the manager, big difference in what is expected from club media participation

  10. Small margins at this level, Elyounoussi, Odsonne score in the first half, different outcome. A couple of individual errors and we are punished, severely.

NFL on now, we win as a team, we loose as a team.

    Well said Lenny.

Onwards, Quadruple Trebles do not come along often, let’s win one.

  11. Fourstone @10.07

Tongue in cheek remark re CQN contributors bombarding the site.We are hurting, yes of course. Our main concern is to finish the season with the Scottish cup and league title to add to the league cup and re-write the history books.Tonight, well hand on heart, did we ever look like we would the game…..honestly!

  12. Anyway no more sunday/thursday bollocks.

Thats something to look forward to.

Let sevco enjoy their mercy mission to old trafford, san siro or the emirates.

  13. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Lazyd…,

The goal chopped off should have been a penalty, their keeper had his arms around EOs neck while going for the ball before he clashed with big J

  14. A very disappointing night, I make that 4 disappointments in 50 Competitive games.

In one game French Eddie has gone from a Superstar to a bog ordinary SPFL plodder, Jozo & Aer are 2 total duds but shure the clever bhoys knew that all the time,

Lennon is clueless too, not too many knew that last week,

I understand disappointment, I feel disappointment. I understand people lashing out at a time like this.

I urged caution before came but I was a Fearty. I said then that the Super confident would go ballistic if this went pear shaped. I’m not far wrong.

We have 2 huge games in next 6 days. We haven;t time to feel sorry for ourselves. We need to pick ourselves up & get back on the horse.

Following a team isn’t a one way ride, along with the sunshine there is going to be a bit of rain some time.

We are down tonight but it makes the net 2 games all the more important.

Hope to God we don’t lose either of them.

  15. We’ll come back on Sunday and win on Wednesday then it’s all eyes on a quadruple treble.

Tonight is very much my experience of Celtic in Europe. We tend to shoot ourselves in the foot. We go again.

We’re a different beast domestically and I’ve no doubt we’ll finish the season strong and see out the 9 and seal the quad treble.

We can talk about tonight prior to our CL qualifiers, we need to learn these lessons.

  16. French Eddy turns up tonight at this level…he plays a blinder and we progress another round [or two]

Of course he was average at best [although good penalty]

Therefore none of the big boys will pay the 30 million or so we value him at therefore he remains a Celtic player.

    just saying……

  17. CORKCELT on 27TH FEBRUARY 2020 10:25 PM

“along with the sunshine there is going to be a bit of rain”

Isn’t that a Dolly Parton song?

  18. Shouldn’t have eaten that mushroom I found under the fridge….

    …just watched some crazy shit.

Broonie was a man doon all night…as if he too was under ma fridge.

BIGGEST mistake was NFL saying we hope to win this competition. After 1 leg. Disrespect is a great motivator.

I said Griff would come on (correctly) on 70 minutes for Mo…I was 14 secs out Neil was 70 minutes out. Just a wrong call, but it counted.

After the penalty we should have shut the motherf*cling game down. We didn’t.

    Amateuer from team and manager.

Said to wife that work would be hard tomorrow.

She said “Play Glen Daly walking in.”

    Married a good ‘un.

  19. Back to front and in the dressing room we were failures tonight. A shambles.

Lennon has to take the brunt of it. The team, the tactics, the formation. The two times we’ve been turned over unexpectedly this season its been by bang average teams but teams that are tactically far superior to us, is that a mentality or a coaching issue?

If Christie was playing I believe we would have won. The fact that their player escaped what should have been a red card for the penalty makes it even more galling that Christie ended up suspended.

  20. Manager to blame big time, wrong team, wrong tactics.

This team were there for the taking, they couldn’t believe their luck when we allowed them to settle into the game, just waiting for one mistake, Jozo gifted them their only chance first half, then was so slow on one occasion he had me screaming at him, left hand side of our box.

Remember the Wanyama, where would he get a game posters, well he could have played instead of having to play a half fit Scott Brown, who has now been culpable in us exiting 2 European competitions.

That’s Millions thrown away when instead of 5M in projects we failed to strengthen the 2 positions thousands of Celtic fans wanted strengthened, a centre back and centre midfield player, same old story.

  21. Looks like Arsenal could be going out at home to Olympiakos. It happens.

We bounced back after Cluj and I expect us to stroll to the title.

It’s disappointing but will all be forgotten when we clinch 9IAR.

  22. Ron67. You really should take a look at yourself. Jozo & Ajer were the weak links at the back Julien & Taylor were the best of our defenders.

I’d love if Jobo cancelled this week’s Competition. I don’t want to rerun it to make my picks.

  23. Ron67 you need to get over it Jullien had a good game, despite N’Doye fouling the entire game, stood up well to the onslaught, others in the defence make mistake after mistake every game but don’t get the same criticism

  24. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

Eddie had virtually no support all night.

    At times surrounded by four.

    A tactical mistake perhaps.

    That for another day .

  25. Eddie was alone upfront against a packed, well organised defence.

    The lad isn’t Messi.

We lost because our defence sold the jersey and we as a team we lacked composure and game management.

We gifted goals to Cluj and Copenhagen but had the talent to rescue it back before we imploded.

As a team we seem to lack composure on nights like tonight. When we’re expected to win. Time after time we find away to lose.

  26. We are making progress in Europe.

    We have made progress.

There are far more positives than negatives.

The moaners need to drink a can of irn bru and feel better.

The Danish champions [yes that’s what they are, not some mid table portugese wannabees] were 9/1 to win that match tonight at celtic park…

The bookies put a lot of science fact into their odds.

  27. Anyone that thinks that we are not capable of *ucking the league up after tonight needs to have a word with themselves.

A fortuitous league cup victory (come on, be honest) and embarrassment in the last Glasgow derby should have set alarm bells ringing, we have pulled an excellent run together against what is in all honesty, utter dross, whilst the huns have imploded. But good god, we need to be vigilant, Livingston next, their game in hand.. we have to bounce back from this and quickly, nothing should be taken for granted.

Focus Celtic, and don’t look backward..

  28. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

    Paul called it.

When was the last time Tom Rogic played 90 minutes?

He must have been dead on his feet.

  29. Go tell the Spartim on

    An Dun and others

I’d love to think we’d learn our lessons but we perpetually don’t.

I like CJ as a player and a leader (at times)

Ajer has hit a ceiling this year

Jozo …… let’s just say his next mistake is usually around the corner

LB – seems we have 3 vying for the position but none trusted

RB – Shug isn’t fully recovered yet, ones got great potential and the other is better going fwd

Middle to front were generally well placed

We need to sort out and recruit if necessary the right level of defenders needed to take care of teams like Cluj and Copenhagen

  30. Although there was cause for some concern early on, we had complete control of the game up until their first goal when one huge mistake by Jozo swung the tie. After that we were a calamity in the dugout and throughout the pitch. So much went wrong and so many were exposed, technically, tactically and mentally. It was a sobering night.

But, whether it’s right or wrong, small mentality or whatever else, 9 in a row is the only show in town this season. We need to put this behind us quickly and concentrate on finishing the job.
