CELTIC v DONS IN CUP SEMI CLASH

CELTIC will face Aberdeen in the Premier Sports League Cup semi-final at Hampden in November.

The other last-four tie will see Motherwell play Philippe Clement’s Ibrox side as all four teams battle for a place in the showpiece showdown in December.

Coincidentally, the champions and the Pittodrie men are unbeaten this season and Brendan Rodgers’ men are top of the table with a better goal difference.

The Hoops had to battle for their 5-2 quarter-final win over gallant Falkirk at Parkhead this afternoon where they turned around a 2-1 half-time deficit with four quickfire strikes after the hour mark through doubles from Adam Idah and substitute Nicolas Kuhn.

Paulo Bernardo had scored the side’s goal as they toiled in the opening 45 minutes.

The Dons eased through with a 4-0 home victory over fourth-tier Spartans.

Celtic have dominated the competition in recent seasons with seven trophy wins over the last decade.

The League Cup was the one that got away in Rodgers’ comeback campaign after a 1-0 loss at the first hurdle against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in August last year.

They had to settle for the Premiership title and Scottish Cup double.

Semi-final ties are due to be played on the weekend of November 2/3 with the Cup Final at Hampden scheduled for Sunday, December 15.
