May I ask bout your moniker? Is it homage to our mid70s Icelandic hero?,,:-)

    …..

Well spotted AT, he was friends with the crowd my parents cut about with during his time here, and became my first proper celtic hero.

Aw naw, wind and rain in Glasgow, cold and damp an aw…..

    No mention o snowflakes…..

    No need…….plenty on here….

    ………

No snowflakery involved, the fact that I’m a sailor means I’m always aware of the effects of the weather, the gusts today were definitely having an effect on the flight of the ball, making judgement of its travel that much more difficult for the players. This imo would make the game more of a lottery than if it was played in better conditions.

To me the snowflakes are the ones greeting about our team not winning by four or five goals every game.

  3. Good morning CQN

Massive 3 points yesterday, we now have a very important cushion in front of 3 tough away venues Hibs, Livingston, and Sevco, by the time we have faced Sevco we will have played 17 away and 15 at home ! throughout this season we have always been behind in terms of the number of away fixtures played, computers eh? paranoid….

Congratulations to GG yesterday on a terrific strikers hat trick and thank you for rescuing us from another poor defensive performance Hatate and O’Reilly who was woeful on the day combined to gift the opening goal at yes you guessed another set-piece shocker, very happy to see my doubts about GG ebb away yesterday and is a reward for his perseverance, hard work, and belief in himself his new found scoring touch will be vital in the league games ahead

Thursday game is a non-event for me the SPFL title is what matters this season, and Hibs on Sunday is another cup final in the league, it takes priority, at this point in the Ange reign his all-out attacking philosophy in Europe is defensively naive, the stats do not lie, the GA column both home and away in European ties this season make fools of those who were forecasting a visit to Albania in may, and we call Sevco fans delusional

I would like Ange to take a free hit on Thursday with a radical change in team selection and more importantly, team shape and set up, e,g a 3-5-2 shape, certainly Stephen Welsh has been harshly treated and deserves his opportunity, IMO he has never let us down and in some respects is superior to Starfelt at left center back, wishful thinking on my part as Ange will not change his total belief in his philosophy, at European level and last week the Norwegian champions game plan was far better executed than ours, and it is a gift to top-class opposition to be so predictable in your set up

Domestically Ange has been terrific this season the in-tray of problems the new boss faced would have had bigger names run for the hills, Howe did just that….following on from the shocking managerial performance from last season when we finished 25 points behind Sevco and a squad rebuild that was being judged as requiring at least a season before success was possible Ange has performed miracles, he has stamped his authority on recruitment, Lennoxtown and domestically trophy wise the treble is on ! Europe can wait till next season

My 6 year-old grandson’s 2 Celtic games v Dundee United & Dundee. Both very late winners. He loves the drama and excitement of these finishes.

Not good for his grandad’s aul ticker.

    …………..

GREAT to read or hear of the Youngsters enjoying the Celtic experience !

  6. My friends in Celtic,

It is great that Gio Giakoumakis got his hat trick. To reiterate from waaaaaay back. A big strong, tall striker who can score and play with his back to goal is a much valued asset.

He deserved time, he still does.

HH to all, the journey continues

I am old enough to have watched Big Shuggie wearing the Hoops, and what a pleasure it was !

At that time, I used to say to my mates that ” EVERY Team needs a Player like Big Shuggie” because he was more than capable of playing in several different positions etc.

He also scored some goals against the Huns !

I loved the ” Big Yin”.

  8. Some supporter buses were on the road long before most of us got up.

If some of the fans want to leave a few minutes early, who can blame them.

    Their dedication is an inspiration.

Big, big difference traveling hundreds of miles away than those of us travelling ” locally ”

  10. Listened to BBC sportsound podcast for a bit this morning. My goodness they didn’t half wail about Bobby Madden. I had to turn it off after 15 mins for the sake of my own sanity.

  11. GreenPinata

agreed, kudos to those who travel from afar.

but why would a fit and healthy supporter want to sit on a parked bus as opposed to sit in Celtic Park ? the bus wont leave any earlier.

  12. Sportscene… No mention of the assault and penalty claim on Giak….

But highlight Hatate at Dundee corner goal , as he bends over to sort his shin guard , and looks shocked when the ball bounced in front of him .

Yep I know he shouldn’t be doing it , but never forget the agenda…

    Highlight the Celtic mistakes .

    ——–

Maybe now all are fit and healthy. Possibly: Fatigue, knackered, needing a heat , effects of drink wearing off, needing a kip, burnt out.

Don’t really know for sure and I guess it’s up to the individuals.

Now if you are driving a long distance home then a few minutes early start could make all the difference.

Our traffic management is dire and that is where questions should be asked. I trust the cycle lanes that surround our stadium are well used on match days ?

    Cheers and HH.

  14. Sorry , silly me, I forgot.

Cyclists don’t have to use cycle lanes. They are perfectly entitled to drive in the middle of the remaining road.

Cars, vans, busses just need to Suck it up.

    Rant over.

  15. Carl Starfelt is a big worry for me. Yesterday he gave away a silly free kick which resulted in the corner from which Dundee scored.

Then he conceded another pointless free kick which was headed home for 2-2.

Apart from that he gave away possession a couple of times. He seems laboured on the ball and is very careless with it.

I’d like to see Jullien given a run alongside Carter-Vickers with Starfelt as backup.

  16. TURKEYBHOY on 20TH FEBRUARY 2022 9:10 PM

Pitch is very poor. Been that way since Brendan had it relayed. Supposed to be the same surface as Arsenal, the Hybrid one. Not from what I see. Emirates like a Bowling green.

Questions need to be answered. Last season it was laid again because of some disease ,worse now.2 million allegedly, but I heard it was a great deal less.

    ___________________________________________________________________________________

While the grass might be exactly the same as Arsenal’s the growing season, climate and conditions certainly aren’t, Glasgow is almost 650kms further north than London that makes a huge difference.

  17. 62nd minute Maeda ,plays a one two with Hatate ,Dundee defender puts ball out for corner , Maeda judged offside , 3players in the Dundee box playing him on … No mention .

  18. Starfelt has been a worry since the first time I saw him

Time to get big Julien back in. At least he can win the ball in the air

  19. Iniquitous…………….

    from way earlier…..

Thanks, that old film- memories of the old shopping centre clock….

the film managed to show both mine and Kilbowie Kelts auld hooses as well.

    Thanks.

    ###

In my experience people who travel a long way on supporters’ buses arrive early but don’t leave early, except perhaps if there’s a ferry to catch. Though there might be one or two booze hounds who leave early to grab a pint before getting on the bus.

If you travelling for several hours there and back you want your full 90 minutes.

  21. The decision to include Kyogo , rather than Guchi in the European squad is looking like a very strange one , as we could have done with him on Thursday .

  22. Myself and old uncle leave early , 5-10 mins early to be precise. Hes almost 80 with 2 dodgy hips. We hack ourselves down from the top tier JS stand sometimes getting the service lift down sometimes not (cos its used by catering). We(he) then shuffle our way down to the gallowgate to my car at whitevale baths, this is the nearest point i can park to the ground. The whole carry on is really really pish.

I’m going up to the ticket office today to discuss relocation, hopefully down further in the JS stand cos thats where hes always been since the 50s ‘ the Cellic’ end’.

BOGNORBHOY, I watched the full Sportscene programme last night (just because you-know-who got beat!). Apparently there was a forward called Alfredo playing for Sevco, while we had a guy called The Greek. Petty I know, but there indulgence towards all thing AyeBroke and their dismissiveness towards us is so palpable. Mind you it makes their hurt all the more enjoyable.

From the wee small hours of the morning, as Frank used to sing. Not all of my posts are to be taken literally or seriously, though some are, eg pointing out the difference between ‘fiscal’ and ‘economic’ to those incapable of doing so. That said, an earlier post of mine, pointed out the lyrics of You’ll Never Walk Alone, to make another point to some on here, that we need to support the Bhoys (and Ghirls) through the adverse conditions and times that we sometimes face. Even watching from afar it was clear that the wind and the rain was impacting the game, the pass even, and the players deserve credit in playing some of the football they did, when they did. As others have pointed out, John Collins included, this is how leagues are won.

    Sail On Sail On!

  25. Fourstonecoppii. Have you considered getting a pass for the parking beside the buses next to the Stadium? A lot of people with disability park there.

  26. So it looks like Bobby Madden will be off hun duties for a few months.

Can they afford to be without their best player for this length of time??

I have thought of that thanks, don’t think hes got a disability badge..he doesn’t drive.

  28. FOURSTONECOPPI on 21ST FEBRUARY 2022 10:16 AM

You don’t have to drive to be entitled to a blue badge.

  29. Football would do your head in, Hatate started his Celtic life in a blaze of glory, I thought we had the new Lubo

(we still might) likewise O’Riley hit the ground running & looked every inch a star , GMak however looked awkward & a bit of an Ajeti Mark2.

Since the Hun game Hatate has been mediocre and last couple of games O’Riley has been poor but never fear up steps GMak to rescue us.

What happens next who the hell knows, I certainly don’t.

By the way Juranovic won us the game yesterday & while CCV got pelters here for 2nd goal conceded he did extremely well to snuff out a late late Dundee chance,

    Bring on the Hibs,

  30. Philcool @ 10:16

Do we have details of which referees are still able to officiate games involving sevco?

At this rate, they’ll have their own dedicated resource – obvious jokes apart

  31. ive got a blue badge and i aint even disabled,

brilliant for parking close to things and have a short walk there and back,

see the looks you get, people are just so jealous

  32. Celtic mac, sorry for misunderstanding you my friend. Please accept my apologies, I’m less thin skinned in real life. ; )

Yesterday’s game will live long in my memory due to it being the first game I’ve been able to take both my boys together, and their absolute joy at the late winner is still giving me a warm feeling a day later.

  33. Yep Fourstonecoppi, We have an elderly neighbor who doesn’t drive, She has her Badge and whenever we have to drive her, she brings the Badge and we can legitimately use disability parking to bring her to Doctor’s Bank etc.

If you think about it , in a lot of cases people with disabilities, are unable to drive, still they need to live and to access various locations, it’s not about the Driver its all about the person driving, it’s all about the person with the disability.
