    A win & 3 points in our 1st real game, job done.

     

    Our new bhoys will be fine once settled but Camilo looks better playing centrally.

     

    I thought we looked similar in style to last season, very laboured at times & lacking imagination. Our midfield is crying out for some sparkle.

     

    Playing AJ at LB at the end highlights our transfer deficiency, quite amateurish tbh. Just buy a LB ffs.

     

    Anywho, we won (even though it wasn’t scintillating) & the huns & wee huns didnae so all’s swell in the Old Firmsphere (which is aw that really matters in Scotchland).

     

    Here we go, a mulyin in a row! 🍀

    I’d like to try a 3:5:2. Particularly at home. Problems would be who would play the wide roles. None of our current wingers have any defensive capabilities. A strong five with Kieran and Alistair would be great but we would struggle to get one of the ch’s to start the play and it means we have little pace defensively.

     

    I was happy with Hogh and Duran last night but I don’t think we’ll get the best from either of them in a three.

     

    Finally, someone else mentioned it earlier, why do we need eleven back defending corners?

    Daily wretched reporting ‘sack the board’ chants tonight . Can anyone at the game confirm ? Certainly didn’t hear them on tv .

     

     

    I was in 15mins before kick until about 10mins after FT. I never heard anything. The GB did have a sign half way through 2nd half (something like “ New Season – Sane Shite – End the Bans”). But I never heard anything chant when it was displayed.

    Only saw highlights (work and silver wedding dinner took priority!).

     

     

    I thought we created more clear cut chances than we did in equivalent games last season.

     

    Hogh misses were a mixture of poor finish, luck and great defending on last one.

     

    Duran seemed to get more central in second half.

     

    If we were to play 2 up top; Nygren stops being a no10 and we lose the goal threat; decisions , decisions

    Why does the board not see the obvious gaps in fan experience at CP?

     

     

    There is surely potential for proper restaurant and shopping experiences in the immediate footprint of the stadium. The space is there. The captive audience is there. Instead, we have the vast majority of fans staying in town or on gallowgate until the last moment as there is nothing but a few food trucks at the ground. Similarly, after matches we have a mass exodus. There is a huge opportunity to develop in a way that attracts fans and income before and after games. Genuine question- do the board not actually see this?

     

     

    Combined with the lackadaisical approach to the upkeep of the general fabric of the stadium it does reasonably raise the question as to whether they care.

     

     

    We have a club with a worldwide diaspora and 60000 visitors on a regular basis- yet our ’superstore’ remains in a temporary building.

     

     

    Successful clubs realise that the experience, particularly for families and first time visitors, is about more than the 90 minutes.

    Pleased with the result , some good performances, especially KT .

     

    Said many times I totally fail to see what is so good about Arne. He may well be a gifted player, but not in a Celtic shirt. one or two good passes , thats all i saw.

    Seemed to me in the 1st half the gap between midfield and forwards was far too big and as a front 3 we couldn’t organise a decent press. Kasper would push up only to look over his left shoulder and find Yany loitering 30 yards away from the play.

     

     

    2nd half we pushed up more , shortened the spaces and played better.

     

     

    352 formation in the Scottish League seems a bit bonkers , particularly when we don’t have a ball playing CB to build the play through the middle.

     

     

    We absolutely need to work on either a coordinated press or falling back when out of possession; 1st half was a shambles on that front.

     

    Booting the ball long to Kasper should just stop now.

     

     

    I’m sure we’ll get better but we’ve got a tricky Euro tie to navigate next week , so very little time to prepare.

    You were watching the same game as me last night by the looks of it. It will never catch on.

     

     

    Ive reflected long and hard at trying to make sense of how Celtic go about their xfer business

     

     

    I have arrived at 5 possibilities.

     

     

    1 Apart from CL income the other source of income apart from that set out in (shhhh) FSR, is profit on player sales. To keep the wage wheel keep on turning the lower the buy price the higher the sell price the greater the profit which goes into the SCR calculation to offset the cost of buying new players.

     

    That cash generated helps sustainability but it stays in Celtic’s account not DDs.

     

     

    2. There has been an accumulative underspend each season on players wages that FSR limits. This provides rainy day money so that there is no need to sell AJ or Engles (for whom anything over his buy price is a good deal). If they go it will be for as high a price as possible to negotiate in order to make a profiit to maintain current wage levels.

     

    3. Perhaps the price of ambition is not worth the risk so Celtic are ok with EL level of competition. I have yet to see a price of ambition quoted that does not start with a £40m CL reward as the start line and no mention of cost.

     

    4. In spite of higher income over recent years Celtic’s wage bill and Rangers have been close which suggests Celtic do not want the SPFL were they are successful becoming shooty in.

     

    5. The system that was functional if CL performance is the barometer, ceased to be last summer and why is subject of a debate which generates more heat than light.

     

     

    In short I havent an effin clue, just like everyone else but happy to hear the thoughts of others . :)

    Last season after half an hour of first game at CP v Kaity I concluded we aint going to qualify.

     

     

    That would be same conclusion after last night first half although energy levels improved second.

     

     

    Celtic”s next emergency signing might be a tanker of Lucozade or Red Bull.

    But (sadly) I think it’s more basic

     

     

    We do not have the people with experience and ability in the building

     

    I think DD likes to keep all spending within a small group – himself Nicholson and possibly McKay

     

     

    Between the three of them they no the cost of everything but the value of nothing

     

     

    Ironically our success on the pitch over the last 15 years makes us look like we know what we are doing

     

     

    Maybe we do – but im not confident
