Celtic v Dundee United

663

Under different circumstances, we would applaud, or stand in silence, to mark the passing of Jim McLean, the former Dundee United manager, who died on Boxing Day.  McLean’s achievements in the Scottish game are eclipsed by few, perhaps only Jock Stein and Alex Ferguson.  His team United the country with wins on the European stage that could scarcely be dreamed of now.

During his term, United received an accolade from Uefa ahead of a Celtic game.  Post-match, he spoke warmly of the Celtic support, a generous moment.  I am glad United visit Celtic Park to mark his passing today, it is just a pity we are not all there to share it.

Idgo with the same team.. except (Biton on over Duffy) shame about Ahmed liked hima lot, damn covid.

no RC… Tom Rogic did more ten minutes than RC in 90. Soro Turnbal Frimpong, Rogic could be all the differance.

if the league had a reserve tea, Celtic wold be unstoppable.

its been a wondeful decade, party at the end of his season, no matter what

For 2021, how about we stop contaminating the beautiful CQN blog with quotes from the odious Sky Sports or assorted puppets employed by them?

We are not their target demographic.

Editorial policy (lustily driven by assorted Sevcoites) is driven by commercial strategy.

Commercial strategy driven by the fact that Sevco fans are the world’s dumbest … and the most likely to subscribe to their god awful offerings.

Praise Sevco / slag Celtic. – that’s it.

    Cancel and ignore.

    You’ll probably feel better.

The so called ‘shame game’ when the deid klub got the three red cards and a Wilson bouncer won it for us I have this wee romantic idea of the conversation that Lennon had with Kayal right after the first spitting hun Diouf incident with Lennon on touchline. Kayal and the gaffer made a wee pact. Kayal went back out to show them.

I genuinely don’t remember that or for some reason didn’t know re: Kayal being a ****

You are making me think I have to go back and watch that game in full. Middle aged memories, aye!

  9. We are steadily improving with still plenty of room for improvement. We really should have run up a big score. We had 9 shots on target and 15 shots off , 24 shots on total, who could have predicted that?

If a very average Motherwell side can have 23 shots at goal at Tannadice then this is an opportunity for a Celtic side who regularly have over 20 shots at goal at Celtic Park.

Yes they will park the bus, sit in deep, try to frustrate and have a decent goalkeeper, its still an opportunity for at least 3 goals playing with 2 strikers imo.

  10. Well done Celtic and Neil Lennon yesterday…although 6 or 7 Goals would have been a better reflection on our display.

I remember my older brother had a badge sewn onto his Celtic hat the badge said CELTIC I LOVE YOU !

I always envied that badge because it said exactly how he,myself and my other brother felt about The Famous Glasgow Celtic. Now forty odd years later we still feel the same way.

I have a wee smouldering ember just waiting to burst into a flame for the ten in a row.

Let’s all see the flame burning bright next year.

Peace, Love and Health for all Celts on here and world wide.

  15. Neil Lennon,and Mc Cartney.,

Yep,we always moan at the time. All the greats had moans about them at some time. The thing with Jeremy is,he is far too unplayable to have such a poor return in assists.I think its something like 5 in 26 games. The amount of times he gets to the byeline, brilliantly,I might add, then fluffs the delivery,is shocking.I have yet to see anyone match his pace.He has it all, pace ,skill, huge heart. If he can improve the delivery,to around 50%,he has all the makings of a superstar. He is improving in the defensive side to his game.

  16. well,I could be on to a small fortune to start off the New Year.My first 2 bets of a Treble came up yesterday.10 quid on Ross County,St Johnstone to draw, and now waiting on the 3rd.On Only An Excuse, tonight,I have bet there will be no “Frankie Boy,Where’s ra Burds”impersonations at anytime in the show.

  17. I have a little different opinion on Frimpons set up play.

Often he gets into the position to cut it back, and the defending is so precise that there is no easy option to get to a celtic player. No simple easy -pass. so it tends to be hit and hope.

Maybe with two forwards now and midfielders coming into form, it starts to change.

even so, comparing with James F stats, we can now see the value of the invisible one.

I for one am looking forward to the legendary celtic player coming back.

    motherwell manager resigns

i thought all managers waited for a pay-off?

    mustnt need the cash

  22. I think Frimpongs biggest fault, is he delays the cross. Allowing the opposition to fill the box with players.

  23. think wee Frimpong should have had at least 3 assists yesterday. It wasnt his fault that we didnt put the ball in the net more.

For me, Morecambe and Wise have about the same appeal as Mike & Bernie Winters…..and I don`t find Mike and Bernie Winters at all funny.

Finally, I think Frimpong is a cracking wee player. In Forrest, Johnston and Frimpong, we have, IMO, three very, very good wingers.

Was he entitled to a pay-off? I don’t know the terms.

i would think if he held on til his bosses fired him then they would be obliged to weigh him in

but resigning probably means he get nothing

though he maybe thought there was next to no chance of him getting fired and wants to move on for his own career which would be fair enough

  27. Hi Bhoys

That’s 2 spl managers resigned recently when the team has been performing poorly.

    It will never catch on.
