    we conceded 12 fouls today. against uniteds 5.

    To add some much needed perspective. Let’s use yesterday’s game.

     

     

    Celtic were not in possession of the ball (defending) for 19.8 mins yesterday and during that time they committed 12 fouls, that’s an average of a foul every 1.65 mins.

     

     

    Dundee Utd were not in possession of the ball for 70.2 minute and during that time they committed 5 fouls, that’s an average of a foul every 14.04 mins.

     

     

    Obviously there’s other factors and “thuggery” isn’t one of them.

     

     

    No, I’m thinking of situations, where, too often when we’re pressing, for example when we’re pressing defenders deep in their own territory and they’re facing their own goal and they fall over, inevitably receiving a get-out-of-jail-free kick.

     

     

    I think our players need to be a bit more canny in these situations.

    Special wee mention for Liam Scales yesterday.

     

    Dropped by a man that couldn’t organise a few beers in a brewery yet he stepped back into our side yesterday and produced a solid performance and a magic moment to bail out his defensive partner.

     

    I’d like to think we would have still went on to win, but who knows what affect that could have had on both sides.

     

    That clean sheet is almost as much of a tonic as the 4 goals.

    Shaun Maloney might well be a very good coach going through his apprenticeship. Maybe needs a bigger personality (like MON or a.n.other) alongside him.

     

    Perhaps that is a better and more realistic solution than bringing in some managerial ‘project’ or expensive ‘has been’?- although I am sure many fans would accuse the board of lacking ambition.

     

     

    Investment still needed in scouting and modern governance structure – but I am hopeful we will get there.

    Not defending anyone at all here but if you remove the executives who currently sit on the board who exactly is going to run the club and do whatever needs to be done regarding this next few critical weeks with the basic running of things plus the activation of transfers / in and out / loans and legalities?

     

     

    Likewise if your target is the ownership then what would your plan be for that ?

     

     

    If it’s the non execs you want rid of then what difference do you really think it will make and who would you have coming in ?

    Word on the street is that Michael has submitted his resignation after the Wilfried debacle but that it was rejected for now. Presumably for the reasons you noted above.

Boards are not unique cults, they’re replaceable employees. Their continued failure is the crisis.

     

     

    It is akin to asking ‘If we remove the arsonists from the fire brigade, who will put out the fire?’ The point is to hire people who don’t start fires. The idea that this specific failing group are the only humans capable of doing the job is precisely the sycophantic nonsense that got us here.

    If only …. The football industry is full of chancers sorting out the wheat etc is probably in reality not as straightforward as your alluding to. Be careful you don’t fall into the syndrome that other people’s jobs are easy etc , just pick up the phone etc.

     

     

    Hopefully, Dermot has been seriously burnt by the events of the last year or so and will take proper advice and counsel on how best to restructure and rehire into the business.

     

     

    Running a football club in the full glare of a hostile environment is surprisingly not like running any other business.

    We all know the current lot have overstayed and stagnated and for our xlub we require younger football focused men and women who can take us forwar maybe chaired by a Willie Haughley , David Low , Duncan Smilie , Paul Smith , there are many more and it should always be referred after a few year and more fan involvement to help improve the key areas and harmony.

    The recovery continues today.

     

     

    Dundee have won their last three games and have home advantage on a pitch that won’t be in great condition at the moment, impeding free-flowing football. Might the gap effectively reduce to 3 points today?

     

     

    If Dundee can do us a turn, there is a chance that a Celtic win at Tynecastle on Jan 25th could see three teams tied on 47 points at the top of the SPL, with the two Hearts defeats wiping out their goal diff advantage.
