  1. Well, 3 points won and I saw Barca beat Milan 3-2. Only minus, apart from not making Celtic Park, was the site going down. Then the ole blood pressure started to soar and I can do without that. Come on Celtic. A win on Saturday and we are back in it.

  2. The Honest Mistake (Sickened) on

A bit hysterical on here after a comfortable victory. Some people need to slap themselves on the face a few times.

  3. Mental at the end there, should have been out of sight at half time yet only celtic could turn such a good performance into a desperate back to the walls performance, such complacency will cost us points; and the penalty situation is beyond ridiculous.

Three points though; hope the bhoys learn from this and go out and put st mirren to bed early on saturday

  4. Reports of Neil Lennon remonstrating with a moaning fan as he went up the tunnel after the game. My money’s on Snake Pishken.

  5. hi folks, great 70 mins from the team tonight i thought. Need to be more clinical tho. Anyway, anyone hear the singing before half time at 2 nil? Sounded great, couldn’t make it out. Something like ‘can u hear us’ ??

We were magnificent at times tonight, some of the build up play was unbelievable, I was going to say orgasmic, it was that as well.

It’s a long time since I have seen quick fast controled football like that from Celtic, some seem to think that we have world beaters in the team, reality check, we don’t, we have a cobbled bunch of bosmans, loans and not very expensive players, not forgetting more than half a team of first picks out injured, and still they moan.

  8. Please Neil,

Whatever Chic asks just repeat ad nauseum, “delighted with the 3 points, great performance….”

Don’t listen to him, at all, ever……..

    Please!

  9. My mate was distinctly unimpressed with McCourt this evening. Couldn’t understand why Commons was taken off. He hopes Commons isn’t injured. Ki, he felt, was back to passing the ball sideways.

  10. Celtic Report Card..

  11. It was 2-1 going on 10-1 lads….. Just one of those “couldn’t score in a brothel” nights.

    3 points in the bag.

The penalty thing is like the away in Europe thing…. It’s a mental issue now and I’m not sure how to solve it.

    Wanyama was excellent again.

    Forrest is growing on me.

Stokes is class most of the time.

First half and first 15 mins of second half were fantastic. We couldn’t finish them off so the panic set in. To be expected….

Anyone moaning about the overall performance needs a good tango.

Ya dinnae like stokesy?? So nil nil at ICT woulda done ya?? Loved Sami a few years back but its ta ta time fur him!!

  13. Apart from the international break, we have been playing games every 3 days due to league, Europa Cup and League Cup commitments. All at a time when up to 10 players have been injured.

Meanwhile the huns players sit with their feet up every midweek due to being dumped out of two cups.

Things have slowly come back on track. The team is improving and although tonight we were profligate in front of goal, we are reeling the huns in.

The game on 28th Dec is shaping up as HUGE but let’s make sure we take care of business in every league game before then.

Kinda hard as I’m not in the country and have the decency to spell my name properly otherwise don’t use the wit of a school kid to try and insult me.

If you are happy with that then fine. I have a different opinion and I think Neil Lennon was doing his nut throughout the game at their sloppiness.

  15. apologies, having caught up on the blog and seen so much moaning I thought my post ‘s sarcasm would have been obvious.

  16. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Tommy Joad,

Celtic were sensational tonight? I won’t argue the point

However, some of us are old enough to remember Celtic under Burns, Venglos, Brady when Celtic played magnificent football and didn’t win the league.

Snake is right – If you play brilliantly at home against the favourites for relegation and only win 2-1 something is badly wrong.

What happens when you don’t play well?

We continue to repeat our mistakes. Play a team off the park for 20 minutes and then get the cigars out. Lose a goal and panic.

I’ve watched this sketch a hundred times and I am sick of it.

Time to waken up Neil. Learn and learn fast (and btw you won’t learn anything from Parker and Thompson so get someone with experience to help you)

    Hail Hail

  17. Lenny on shortbread – we played really well for 80 mins.

“Should have been out of sight, could have been eight, should have taken our chances, really annoying missing pens. Stokes on the next pen. Commons feeling his groin at HT.

Trying to walk ball in net, little bit complacent.”

    Pleased with performance.

    TJ

  18. Disappointed with the last 20 min.

After we missed the penalty, they had a go at us and rightly so.

You have to finish teams off when you get the chances we got.

Young Forrest seemed to fade, but maybe he wasn’t getting the right type of ball.

Over all I’m pleased, we should have scored more, we need a lethal finisher.

Well done to Foster in goal, Wanyama, Commons and Forrest in the first half.

Paddy McCourt didn’t set the pitch on fire, but I don’t want to be too harsh on him,

his strength, in my opinion , is coming on with 25 min to go.

  19. Player well for 80 minutes and in the end that’s what we should be taking from the game. It was one of those nights that things weren’t going in but some of the build-up play was a class apart.

Big Victor was solid once again.

Big Dan looks comfortable with him.

Kayal looked back to his best at parts.

Ki nice and tidy although he always seems to fade out the game/lost concentration after 70 minutes.

Ledley was great playing out of position.

    Matthews good going forward.

    Forrest continues to shine.

Stokes was superb for most parts but he did at times seem like he was playing in a friendly match.

Hooper had nice little kicks and flicks and linked well but still doesn’t get involved enough at times for me.

    Paddy wasn’t great.

Commons had some nice movement but is over doing it.

  20. If you ever needed proof that Celtic will finish 2nd in the league, tonights game was it. Scintilating interplay, crisp passing & good rhythm in the final third all becomes redundant if you don’t have that ruthless element that winning teams have in their dna to kill a game off. Add in the amateur antics of Stokes huff at the penalty and we’re back to the Mowbray era. Don’t get me wrong a big 3 points in the context of things to keep momentum going but i’m not fooled. I’ve seen sporadic sexy football under Brady, Venglos & Mowbray but you need more than that. You need the killer touch and it just aint there on a consistent level

    oh dear

I think the difference may be that you have knowingly, or unwittingly allowed your standards and expectations to have lowered quite vastly than that of others.

something ‘sensational’ encompasses all aspects of our play, not some.

sensational passing leading up to an open goal which is ultimately missed, is not sensational, because it did not produce the means to the end.

there were sensational pieces of play – however and I think Ard macha may have found the adjective I was looking for, they were sadly lacking in the mental aspects of their play.

They lacked the professionalism that top teams possess.

    Ability – check

    Concentration – ?

    Focus – ?

    Professionalism – ?

    Killer instinct – ?

I think you are being a tad selective in your memory if you want to call Celtic 2-1 Dunfermline at Celtic Park ‘sensational’

  22. Nuclear Bovril and a Half Munched Pie on

To me it’s about the context…

If we were in a long run of great form, a 15 minute wobbly spell would not be causing the consternation it is in some.

Anyway. Job done, 3 points, bosh wallop, end of, move on.

  23. 3 points the night.

    That’s all that matters.

    Absolutely nothing else.

Win well. Win ugly. Win stretching away. Win hanging on.

    It. Does. Not Matter.

    Just win.

That’s what we did. Isn’t it?

    Right then.

    Good.

    53

  24. So if you point out that its very poor to be hanging on at the death at home to the team that is sitting bottom of the SPL,,,when you should be at least 5 goals ahead,,,then that makes you less of a supporter????

    Nahhh dont think so!!

    Hail hail

  25. Sometimes it’s about winning, unfortunately some people on here have swallowed the meeja’s line about ‘playing well ‘ Celtic won and they won easily, let’s concentrate on St Mirren and beating them, then concentrate on the largest single day of industrial action on the 30th since 1926!

  26. as long as lennon is in charge at celtic these young bhoys on the sub bench will never get the chance to be a sucess at celtic, i never went to the game to-night, no urge to go back either thinking of giving up my season ticket which i have had for 14yrs .listen to the game on the radio ,celtic should have won the the game by 4 or 5 goals instead they struggled to win the game at 2-1. foster got booked for timewasting lennon up to his usual antics on the touchline , somebody shouts from the front stand to shut up. good for the fan, cant be bothered with lennons ranting and ravings at times .

  27. not sure if anyones mentioned this already, but can someone please tell me what the singing was all about just before half time? something like ‘can you hear us?’

  28. Ma opinion..

Our Strikers.. canny.. well.. Strike when the Iron is Hot..

they.. fumble..and get tangled up . right at the climax of the Play.

We need a coupla guys who are in Full Control of their Appendages..

    Again..that is Ma Opinion.

Stokesy..is so unpredicable…it is No longer a Lark..

    He blows Hot and Cold..

And inevitably.. misses the Easy wans and then Scores the Hard Wans~

Ah don’t like that kinda Player…

Some of ye dae.. well.. that’s is Your Opinion..

But it is Soitenly No Mine.

Goalkeeper should have been booked at penalty. When ki decided to place ball again he was always going to miss.
