Great analysis, you’ve put your finger on, well, not putting your finger on it very well!

There is definitely a mentality problem with this group…let’s hope they get through this stage soon.

Games like tonight are about the goal difference in the SPL. You lose focus, miss a penalty, the game drifts, they score and all of a sudden we’re in the corner flags for the last 5 minutes screaming for the whistle having been cruising for the first half, missing chances at will.

It’s a funny (peculiar, not ha-ha) old game of two uneven halves.

  2. My basic arithmetic skills tell me we have recovered 5 points of the deficit this week.

Last Friday, this was a fingers crossed pie in the sky hope at best, with the Huns at home to St Johnstone.

I really couldnt care less how we played tonight. Really. Not a jot. Because we won, and right now, that’s enough.

Granted, I didn’t see the game so have none of the adrenalin still coursing. If I did I hope I would feel the same.

We are on our way back.

Ki needs a long rest. Dilly dallies thru the game. Get a bit like Donate 5 yard passes back and side ways!!

    What’s your lodge number?

For God sake give the guy a break; we ( or maybe it should be Celtic for you) got the three points….

  5. 3 points and some very good football played. the score line flatters the pars. on an other day we could have got 9 or 10. 7 points lets keep it up celtic.

lennon was shouting at someone in the crowd at the end of the game does anyone know why?

  6. Back to Basics – Glass half full, you should change your moniker with immediate effect.

Eyes Wide Open, yes indeed, guilty as charged, my standards have slipped.

I no longer expect Larsson to finish everything, or for Sutton, Hartson and Lubo to lash three or four into the net every single home game.

However, when I see some of the magnificent and sensational build up play from Stokes, Forrest and Ledley tonight, I will call it sensational. It was stunning football at times.

Snake, would you, hand on heart, in all honesty, have posted the same comment tonight if Ki had scored his penalty and Stokes shot had went in off the post, rendering Buchanans excellent goal a consolation?

    TJ

  7. We missed a penalty.

    And hit the post.

And the keeper had two shots come off his feet.

And we had at least two shots go past the post by inches.

OK these are not goals, and won’t show up in the wee red book at the end of the season, but some of the comments don’t reflect the game.

    Is all.

I’ve seen sporadic sexy football under Brady, Venglos & Mowbray but you need more than that. You need the killer touch and it just aint there on a consistent level

    ====================

I attended Celtic Park under all of those managers and sporadic sexy football is not my memory of it. Well, may be the good Doctor Jo provided it……..

In any event, sexy football or the mythical Celtic way is all very well. It’s about getting the job done. Which is kind of what you’re saying and in a sense we did that tonight.

Consistency will only come when we have less than 10 players injured…………

  9. So was that a really entertaining game to watch, or one of the most frustrating? We were so in command in the first half it was really disappointing to end the way it did. I’m trying to compare this with the 3-3 draw with Kilmarnock where we dropped points but it felt like we had almost come away with something.

  10. Just back in from the game, good performance overall especially in the first half. Trying toohard to score the perfect goal in the second half.

anyone got any idea why the plod were rushing in numbers to get to the JS stand just after the final whistle.

as long as lennon is in charge at celtic these young bhoys on the sub bench will never get the chance to be a sucess at celtic.

    ——————————————————-

How did grizzled veteran James Forrest play tonight?

As for giving up your ticket, maybe stop for a moment and reflect how lucky you are to have the opportunity to attend games. Up to you, of course, but many would love to be in your fortunate position in having that luxury and choice.

  12. Never, at any stage this evening, could share the euphoria both on here and on CelticTV.

A fragile team got off to a good start, settled their nerves and then dominated a very poor team for the majority of the game. Result? We could have stopped after 15 minutes.

Agree that 3 points was the most important, but, for those who are simply satisfied with that, a win when we are not playing well is one thing and very welcome.

A team which can’t bury very poor opponents, despite all the advantages and end up, again, in a backs to the wall final few minutes doesn’t do it for me.

That performance was mediocre bordering on good.

Keep the training exercises on the training ground and play effective football for 90 mins, when it counts in competitive matches.

Bertie Auld thought training was a slog so he could have fun on match day – this lot seem to have got it the other way round.

Pleased with the win – otherwise wish I had watched a CL match instead.

Could put forward opinions on a variety of aspects, but suffice to say that performance tonight must improve if we are to win the SPL.

    Cheers

    Alex

  13. Absolutely delighted with most of our play tonight … Infact it was sensational at times.

Delighted with those very important 3 points..

Izzy and commons IS the answer to why things are not quite right!

With them and matthews/Forrest on the right will balance our team big time

WE will win this league 2nd half of season I am sure!

    …..stokes……………hooper…..

    Commons Ledley wanyama Forrest

    Izzy … Mulgrew …lustig Matthews

    ……………..Forster…………………

  14. Mark \o/ McGhee's \o/ Eyeliner \o/ on

    Just in from the game.

Played some great football and should have had the game out of sight in the first half.

Not like us to turn a one sided event into a sqeaky bum game is it? lol!

But 3 points was the main thing and the same goes for St Mirren on Sat.

Lets get it down to 4 points and put the pressure on them for Sunday.

    Hail hail

Just back in. Apart from the last 20 minutes that’s as good a performance as I’ve seen for quite a while. I thought Kris was the difference. Why was he subbed? GB tops again.HH.

There are some on here who are saying ‘we won, got the 3 points, thats all that matters isnt it..’

    I disagree

Because tonight, I saw the Celtic team that could win this league at a canter.

I also saw the Celtic team that are 7 points and 8 goals behind the huns for good reason.

Why the likes of us are being critical, is yes we won by a single goal today – but there has been 5 occasions out of 15 – or 33% of the games we have played in this season that has not been the case.

I cant be entirely happy because the end of the game showed me the correct lessons are not being learned

  17. Right, own up, who upset wee Neil at the end of the match, and its not the first time it has happened either.

7 points behind now and some of you berate the manager.

We are all Neil Lennon, err sometimes!!!

  18. timbhoy2, see that season ticket your thinking of giving up, go ahead and do us all a favour and just do it.

Your “support” won’t be missed. In fact, why don’t you donate this season’s wasted ticket to a fan who is less well off but devoted to the cause?

  20. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Tommy Joad – Change my moniker? Good Idea.

To reflect the attitude of the team how does “Ignore the Basics. Glass Half Full” sound?

Hail Hail to all of us (including TJ)

  21. Tommy Joad

No I wouldn’t but as another poster said I could see that coming at the end and having seen it at home last year against Dundee United and Inverness, I feared the worst but I am tired of Celtic players trying to walk the ball into the net.

Had it not been for Fraser Forster we’d have drawn tonight from such a position of absolute superiority.

A win’s a win – agreed but it could have gone horribly wrong and given our superiority throughout the match I find this to be an attitude problem from some players. If you switch off, you get punished no matter the quality of opposition and we were punished and fortunate to get a win where we should have blown away the goal difference.

Again I’m happy we won (believe it or not) but the manner of the game’s ending really annoyed me.

are you not sick of people missing penalties and hitting half-hearted shots? Stokes was unlucky, I’ll give you that but Ki’s miss was abysmal.

Spot on my friend; I will happily stick with young Adam and hope that Kelvin *( when fit) steps up to be the player Lenny thought he was.

  23. A big thank you to Dunfermline for not kicking us off the park tonight. A very refreshing approach. The MIB seemed to have quite liberal views on the obstruction law.

  24. 1st half was bliss could and should have been 6 up. I thought the change of Paddy for Kris didn’t work. The whole tempo in the forward line changed and Paddy seemed off colour, no incisiveness in his play or passing. Relieved to get the 3 points but disappointed that we didn’t make a dent in the goal difference.
