  1. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Good morning CQN.

The weatherman (he’s maybe a bot? 🤔) says we’ll have nice weather for 6 days.

And we’ll get to see the team twice at Celtic Park during that period.

    Happy days.

Season is starting to come to life.

Looking just a few days further ahead, I find myself intrigued as to what the state of play will look like on 02 September.

    Bring it on.

  2. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Just saw the penalty incident for the first time.

Gut response? (Short on evidence, BTW).

I think back to the audio of the Kyogo non penalty with the same VAR.

The audio suggested to me that the VAR made up his mind almost instantly that it was not a penalty and set about summarily justifying that call .. rather than following a step by step evaluation of the facts.

Confirmation bias aplenty here .. but, IMHO, in this instance his mind was made up instantly that it WAS a penalty, followed by a pursuit of supporting facts.

Basically deploying the same human conjecture VAR was intended to replace with a consistent process.

Too many young footballers lose all ambition when the bank book gets filled up.

Do you have any evidence of that?

Just a wee bit of advice, avoid wearing anything that might identify you as a Celtic supporter in both Portrush and Coleraine.

  5. Viktor Gyokeres’ Arsenal debut saw him end a run of 69 league games in which he has had at least one shot.

You have to go back to April 2023, when he was playing for Coventry City against Blackburn Rovers, for the last time the Swede failed to record a single shot in a league match.

    And

Chelsea used six attackers signed for a combined £250m in their Premier League opener, but could not find a way to score against Crystal Palace.

  6. Paul67 et al,

    Last week Bournesouprecipe informed us that Celtic had in fact made a new contract offer to Daizen Maeda, our best forward for now, and last season’s top scorer. A few days back JohnJames, in his er eponymous blog, gave us a different narrative. In a protected exclusive, he states that Maeda is on the way out;

“A bid has been made for Daizen Maeda. His agent has urged the Celtic Board to accept the offer. Mr Maeda wants to join this new club imminently”

Now of course he could be wrong here, but he has been on the money in the past, not least re the disastrous role and intervention of the Scottish Police following Rangers FC, as was, entering Administration, an intervention that, thus far has cost the Scottish government and public tens of millions of pounds and counting. Like I said, on the money, big money.

If right though, (and both BSP and JJ could be) the only question is not if but when Maeda leaves, key date being before or after our CL qualifier against Kairat, and in particular the away game in Kazakhstan. Now, according to JJ, and presumably BSP, Dermot Desmond sanctioned the new contract offer, and if turned down DD will presumably also sanction his sale to the club making the bid to buy, if the bid is acceptable that is. Now JJ also reiterates the claim made by John Hughes on ACSOM that there are two players close to being signed, so not all bad news. Think it is called going down to the wire…..

  7. So apparently Balikwisha is done and just need a Royal Antwerp replacement to be finalised before he moves

    Scullybhoy @ 10:30.

    Interesting stuff.

I was never a striker and was never a good enough footballer so next sentence is largely moot.

I would hate to be a modern day striker.

Saw a stat ages ago on an MOTD2 covering a Sunderland match.

Jermaine Defoe was their main striker.

He had FOUR touches of the ball in the whole game …

… TWO of which were restarts !!! (after a goal was conceded and second half starting).

I had a new found respect for him after that.

    ———-

Shirley we could interest Royal Antwerp in Tilio or Yang to accelerate ra deal – after all, we have the data to show that they were the bizo ?

  10. Every European game, home or away, needs the park the bus and blooter the long ball up to big forlorn Idah approach.

    imho.

  11. Tippy tappy braindrain will get you picked off in Europe.

    Dortmund, 1-7, again under Rodgers.

A few months later vs Aston Villa, tippy tappy from kick off, down 2-0 after 5 minutes, and big Idah at last got some supplies into the box and scored 2 for us.

We should and could have beaten Bayern and their rookie manager, but we were too nice and pretty.

Neil Lennon would have got us to the semi finals last season. imho

“So @YvetteCooper told Parliament that @palactnet Palestine Action had received money from a foreign power. She lied, but I tell you who has received money from a foreign power SHE HAS! The lying Home Secretary is bought and owned by the Zionist lobby and she will ban whoever they tell her to ban next.”

    %

If we 99% don’t get rid of the Lobby they’ll get rid of us. They tried with their plandemic scam, plamdemic 2 to be rolled out this winter.

How far do you think Celtic are down the list of things they’d like to get rid of?

Cooper was paid by the Lobby to lie to everybody about Pal action.

How much do you think they paid krankie and the coven of witches to lie about Salmond?

Remember when people were called tin foil hat loons for saying that the govt was going to radiate everybody with 5G towers, which were built around every school in Uk whilst everybody was locked down in their houses during the covid plandemic scam?

Well….must be just the Tim areas of the dark north of Ireland that got the treatment?!

“West Belfast 5G mast fire treated as arson”
