Are you deliberately missing my point, which is that if you buy higher quality the option to sell-on for higher profits in the way you describe presents itself.
It’s difficult to know what your point is – your posts are so full of anger, insults and bad language theyre difficult to read. It doesn’t encourage reasonable responses. But for clarity you made this point:
“Every player has their price in football and we must be getting close to it for Engels. If Forest go to £20m is the Board really turning it down?
I will say it speaks volumes for MON’s influence that they didn’t accept the £17.3m bid as they surely would have under Rodgers or the French diddy.”
Thats what I replied to.
The rest of it I read and then ignored. Calling anyone an obsequios quizling to make your point doesnt suggest it’s something worth responding to.

Your rationale as to why the club has a relatively high level of cash reserves is at best subjective.
There are many reasons for cash reserves being higher that normal at Celtic right now other than those you state. 3 obvious ones.
You also suggest that ALL clubs are only what they are as businesses due to their fans and are as such beholden to them.
There are varying degrees of this I would suggest. The issue at Celtic is exceptional high match day revenues and merch performance does give more on an immediacy to this than at say Brighton or Bournemouth or Monaco however the balance of supply / demand for the core revenue proposition of a season ticket at rangers or Celtic will always tilt it in the clubs favour.
For example even in the worst of times with boycotts etc Celtic virtually sold out a series of Europa League Games.
The bigger issue and thing you have got slightly wrong (in my humble opinion) though is that ‘sack the board’ means want change for everyone and not specifics.
The personal abuse some people take on specifics is horrendous and embarrassing. Michael Nicholson and the accountant guys are scarcely known to some and we have folk abusing them in the streets without a clue as to what they actually do. Coked up clowns saying they should be in Glasgow signing people and not in Bologna (apparently it has no communications links and laptops / mobiles can’t work there or something ??). So we have that group of ignorant personal haters.
We then have others who say the board are too old and need modernised. Yet don’t fully understand what you illustrated above very clearly as to their part as NEDs.
Then we have those who blame the owner :
some for his 2 very poor recent (past 30 months managerial appointments (where he sought zero input from anyone else including his then chairman) which have created the current issues.
some for his arrogance in sending his lad to dish out his statement at the AGM. Even although much of what he said is true he didn’t deliver the message well.
some others also think the shareholders are taking away money and taking huge returns and see Desmond in that light. A wake up call awaits these types when their dreams of a PE buyer taking a big slice of their cash comes home to roost.
Some just want a proper structure to be in place and proper governance with capability at various levels.
My own view is navigating toward a modern structure would make good sense and annoyingly PL could have added a lot of value by being been part of a group tasked to deliver this for the shareholders.
I agree engaging is important but it is also difficult as the GB are different to Bhoys and are different to guys in North South Lions and Jock Stein. There is no collective.
The malcontents also don’t have united vision never mind a plan. All I do see is negativity from the ‘sack the board’. It suits our rivals well at a crucial time. Glad it is not my problem.
Even today we have some moaning about players we are signing that they know nothing about. Who knew about MOR or Reo or Kyogo or Mooy 4 or 5 years ago.
We all have our version of what Celtic is and should be. Sadly this situation will eat us up and end our dominance.
Few recognise the glass ceiling of the laughs we are in. Few can also point to many clubs we would aspire to be and any performing better this past 20 years.

Are there any moves, under those well established governance rules, to augment minority shareholders ? The 22% or do of small unmaintained s/h which defaults to board

Why is anyone even contemplating selling Engels today ? What part of the PLC’s balance sheet is drowning in cash is not being understood.
Engels can move at the end of the season, his whole career is ahead of him.

Celtic40Me – I have no idea why we have not tested Motherwell’s resolve. Maybe we enquired about him and offered something plus Welsh in exchange but Welsh doesn’t want to go? Or we offered a derisory transfer fee? Or Martin and Shaun don’t see him as the answer up front despite his scoring exploits?
Here’s a wacky theory. Askou is our next manager and he wants to bring the player with him in the summer. Obviously this will be shot down in flames if they sell him today :)

Players should be allowed to leave when it suits the purposes of the club, not the player.
Theres a whole lot wrong with that statement, even putting the morals of it to one side.
It doesn’t work. If we keep players against theyr will well end up with an unhappy underperforming squad. Keep Engels when he really wants to go and we could end up with a player who is already short of bring a star becoming no better than the benchwarmer he was at the start of the season. Fill your squad with players like that and bad results follow
And the only players who’ll come won’t have the ambition to play at a higher level than the SPL. We’ll have to overpay for average, older players who’ll happily see out their career at Celtic.
Which means well not be able to attract a decent coach/manager
Look at what happens in other leagues these. Players go on strike and almost always get their move. We can’t risk that

If the money’s on the table and MON and Shaun have a midfield contingency, why not cash in ?
We’ve botched decent offers for playing assets in the past and if someone offers north of 15m quid; take it.
Remember too, the problems of keeping a player who has their eye on a big money move in terms of their own wages and security; from Bobo to Boyata and now our present ‘off-the-boil’ merchant Mr Maeda.
I’m glad MoN and Shaun are in charge of team matters; I think they’ll have a decent enuff plan B if Arne goes.

We are winning games. We still have a potential treble to navigate and yet there is little joy at Parkhead.
What atmosphere there is seems to be toxic.
When many get more galvanised in the ” Sack the board ” chants rather than focus on encouraging the team , we have a problem.
The personal derogatory chants by the so called “Bhoys” against Celtic board members is a step too far for me.
I feel given the chance there could be violent confrontation. The Rubicon has been crossed.
This hatred is not the Celtic I was brought up with. It is draining the fun and enjoyment
I feel we could sign magnificent players today and it would not be enough.
Earlier we got a lengthy post from a good poster on what “Sack the board “actually meant to him. It was long on content , but not specific to Celtic.
Who do we replace the ” sacked” board members with ?. Who replaces the principle shareholder ?
Would anyone or any conglomerate ever be accepted?
But more to the point, who would want to come to Parkhead now ?
MON will move on and any new manager will live in his shadow, with underlying discontent awaiting any poor results.
What agent would currently advise players to come to Parkhead? There is little doubt a premium would be added.
As for the £77m or so reported cash reserves. Is this real money we could spend today, or is it only an unspeakable line on a balance sheet.
