  1. Good grief I missed that totally well that’s good news. That has cheered me up,as I feel we are a better team with him in it. I might need to start wearing glasses at the games or drinking less before hand.

Off to bed hail hail bet Molde and Ajax at home 2 draws away and we are through easy.

  2. the glorious balance sheet on

When do molde finish their season? Ajax could have a big advantage in playing them in matchday 6 if their season has long since finished and they aren’t match sharp.

Fine margins and such small details could decide this group.

  3. Not read back, ( stopped at Tesco on way home) so here’s my take on the game :

We really need to stop throwing away a lead so easily

No point commenting on Efe, nothing new from him

Brave decision from Ronny , and Young Tierney repaid the trust, well done young mhan

Best game from Broonie in a long time, 2nd half when Fenerbache dominated play, it was because they snuffed out Nir Biton, who along with Broonie had been in control with Nir pulling the correct strings

Very good game from Boyata, more of that please :-)

Now a negative, something seriously wrong with Johansen, I watched him bark orders continually to Commons and Lustig, and was totally ignored throughout

No idea why Ronny tries to play Commons wide – play him through middle behind Griffiths, and if you need to play Johansen put him out wide, sorry Commons struggles out wide, and as shown with his goal, will be creative in correct position

Doesn’t feel good throwing away a very decent 2 goal lead :-((

    Hail Hail

  4. I heard he was dead on

I tell you what, Robin Van Persie was pure guff in that game.

The best thing he did was pop up in defence on a couple of occasions.

Nani wasn’t all that hot either.

  5. I blame Bournesouprecipe.

Stuck in the onelane car park that is the Raith interchange for 30 minutes did not improve my demeanour but did allow me to consider my thoughts on tonight’s match.

I assume the basics have been covered and Efe, Ronny and zonal marking will be copping a fair amount of culpability for us squandering a two goal, again!

Fenerbache had very expensively assembled a squad that is beyond our financial means but for, except a 20 minute period, we dominated them. For all the millions they spent on Nani, Van Persie, Miereilles, Diego etc, we were the better team.

Admittedly for the other 20 minutes it was a wee bit scary, but you know what, it was a big lump of a hulking centre forward who briefly overpowered us and threatened to defeat us with his sheer physicality. He didn’t. He ended up rolling about the turf, whingeing like a total fanjita as we reasserted our control on proceedings. Van Persie anonymous, Nani a rhyming slang, Diego a brief flash of former glory, Raul Mirelleas totally dominated by our captain.

Our, fiscally enforced, policy of buying young potential V 30 something has beens on a pension plan?

For me only one winner. Our present course.

Sure Efe will gift a goal and our most creative player might not be able to run very fast. Our youngsters will be inconsistent and make mistakes and, at times we, as a team, will be shite.

In the real world, that is where we are at, currently.

I enjoyed tonight’s game. Would have preferred a win but watching young Tierney play well, seeing Griff show he can do it “at this level”, witnessing Broonie dominate a “star studded” midfield and wee Jamesie producing from the flanks, was excellent entertainment.

    Eurochamps 67

It was Bournesouprecipe’s fault coz had he not not needed my lift home, I would have been home half an hour earlier via lower East Kilbride.

We can all criticise Efe for his individual shortcomings, but what’s more concerning is that he’s currently the first backup CB at the Club.

WINNING CAPTAINS on 2ND OCTOBER 2015 12:04 AM

Match report and Kris Commons feature both updated with Geo’s photographs from tonight including an image of the trouble in the away end.

    …….”………………….

Wasn’t aware of trouble in the away end. What happened? Heard the Fenerbahce fans had been very good on town today.

  8. Weeminger

There was nothing deliberate about Efe’s ‘soft’ header.

He mis-timed his jump, and couldn’t get the necessary power on it to get it back safely. Poor decision,as he was under no real pressure, as can be seen from the time he took to have a look to the side before the header was made.

He should have let it drop and blootered it to safety.

    100% his error.

  9. To reiterate a point I made earlier, young Tierney will not forget what Scott Brown did for him early in the game, always by his side ready to help and to take a pass. Brilliant from Brown I’m very proud of the Celtic captain tonight.

  10. Too many I see are of opinion…

Love big efe, but maybe. Time to go.

No maybe about it. No love is justified.

The guy is a mitagated disaster. A total abomination. An abortion of a football player.

There are no words that do his ineptitude justice. A complete fraud of a football player.

YET, yet… For me the biggest disaster is the man that can’t see Ambroses deficiencies. Ambrose has proven on an alarmingly frequent basis that he is entirely inadequate as a football player. Yet in Ronny’s wisdom he continues to be selected.

    Something’s gotta give.

    Something ain’t right

  11. Just in. Not read back. Thought we looked in control at 2-0. They looked a beaten team until Efe gifted the goal. Thought the equaliser was worse – needlessly giving the ball away, then not defending the corner. It then took as while to get control back but we finished the game on top.

Feel for Efe, I think he has played well since going back to Centre Back. Still in with a shout in the group, but we need to cut out the mistakes. H.H.

Cheers. You’re right, it’s all about opinions!

    Hail Hail

  13. WGS is reluctant to criticise Celtic players, but he thought Efe was at fault for the second goal too, as he misjudged the flight of the ball, which allowed Fernandao to get the run on him.

  14. Leftbackagain

  16. the glorious balance sheet on

The Norwegian season finishes on 8 November (3 days after we play molde in the second game of our double header).

Molde play fenerbahce in matchday 5 and Ajax in matchday 6 in what is their close season.

Molde are currently 7th in the Norwegian league, 21 points behind leaders Rosenborg. They have little chance of qualifying for Europe through their domestic league placing this season.

Effectively their season now rests on their 2 games v us. Two wins would pretty much guarantee their EL progression. A win and a draw puts them in the driving seat for qualification.

They will be champing at the bit in their games v us. It’s all they have left to play for this season. We would write them off at our peril.

What a big advantage fenerbahce and Ajax especially have playing them long after the Norwegian league season has finished.

  17. beatbhoy on 2nd October 2015 12:14 am

I was never going to say it was less than 90% but CG did come forward. Perhaps a mitigating factor that’s all.

RD made it clear that Efe’s inability to concentrate is costing us. So I doubt we’ll see too much of him once Simunovic is fit.

  18. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Great game great atmosphere.

Beyond anger with Ambrose now. Poor man lacks the mental toughness to play centre back. Management at fault for playing him.

    Should be on six points.

Well done brown, boyata and Forrest.

    Hail hail

  19. Why do we keep playing Ambrose I am fed up defending him , cost us points tonight but I am still happy with the draw

  20. I watched the game in a pub called, The Lost Hour, in Greenwich, students pub, the guy behind the bar was a football fan and put our game on, students were oblivious as it was quiz night.

When we scored there were lots of looks and wtf’s!

We did well for long spells, enjoyed the passing and moving in spells.

Brownie bossed Marielles, we scored a couple of good goals.

We are still a work in progress.

I’m sure Efe will get criticism, if constructive fair enough, but the team scored two and lost two.

    Team game.

Played two, lost none. Who predicted that?

    Onwards.

  21. The Glorious Balance Sheet

    That’s all very well.

The point earned in Amsterdam I accept.

The two points dropped tonight, I don’t accept.

Irrespective of who plays Molde when, the simple fact of the matter, is win your home games. And Efe put paid to that. Which in turn means Ronny is the even bigger wally for selecting him.

If you take the punt on Tierney at left back, then Blackett deserves to be left centre back… For no other reason than he can’t be worse than Ambrose… But logically he gives the back line balance. Boyata is right sided, Blackett is left sided.

Feasibly if the manager has faith in Tierney on the left, then equally should have faith in Jancko on the right…. Which would provide centre back options of Lustig and Boyata, Lustig and Blackett, Boyata and Blackett…. Me and my old man, regi blinker and Bobby petta, Saint and greavsy…

Listen, Ronny should pair any defensive partnership…. As long as it doesn’t include Ambrose.

  22. The Battered Bunnet

For your last post I’d give you the managers job tomorrow.

I’m prepared to give Ronny till the end of the EL matches. After that, if we’re out its all yours!

Sitting high above the GB tonight I saw everything you saw. Maybe we need to move the home dugout to Area 412.

  23. Doc, your right we should it be surprised now it’s Efe blunders

He made 2 mistakes alone at the 1st goal

Sorry Bhud, far too frequent and costing us

    ————

He was standing square on to the flight of the ball. No way he was ever going to see a player running from behind him to in front of him.

You have to position yourself at an angle so you can see both.
