  1. Efe captain of the African Cup champions. Celtics current whipping boy. Don’t hide from the boo bhoys Efe keep giving it all you have got. Hail hail need to lift it against the Norwegians who are showing some resilience.

    just in from the game

haven’t read back but can imagine Efe getting pelters……

I would have biten your hand off for a draw when the group was announced …… so I’m keeping hold of that positive note

two good results against Molde and I will be A very happy clapper

Now I’m going to watch the game Goodnight Timland

Hail Hail to ye Lassie….well said.

I’m not going to put the boot into Efe coz, I think he is mis-managed.

You know what….the day after Efe made his debut for us in the LC v’s Raith Rovers at Celtic Park(I think?)….Phil Mac posted a dvd-thingy onto Youtube which filmed highlights of Efe’s debut.

Thing is….Efe played as a holding-midfielder and, there were shades of Ya Ya Toure in Efe’s performance.

I know that today, that might sound barking but….if ye can access Phil Mac’s website, maybe you’ll come across the video….I know that it was only Raith rovers he was playing against but…he looked a right guid yin…imho….why can’t he be managed properly at Celtic Park?

Efe isny the 1st and, he won’t be the last player to be mis-managed by a selection of puppet-managers under PL’s watch….a clued-up-manager who is nobodies mug….would be a threat to PL….and, there-in lies the problem…imho

The downsizing of the quality in the dug-out and, of the product on the pitch will empty Celtic Park and….will also, put Celtic FC on the pitch….onto a plate for the returning Orc-Huns….imho(is that the plan?)

    Take care Tims….Off oot. YNWA.

  3. Reading all the vitriol aimed at Ambrose on social media & it’s hugely distasteful. He was selected last night & gave 100% there’s not much more we can ask of him than that. Yes he made an enormous mistake & the goal gave Fenerbace a lift but not for the first time our capitulation for the following 20 mins or so was much more concerning.

People quickly forget how he held us together away in Amsterdam & helped earn us an away point. Efe is a good player who like everyone else makes mistakes, last night he just happened to be severely punished for both of them. Kudos to Kris Commons for sticking up for his teammate.

Head up big man you’ll come again. HH!

  4. Can someone please tell me in all seriousness if ambrose has a clause in his contract that he has to play and cannot just be left on the sidelines…I don’t have any more details but it’s the only thing that makes sense…I have nothing against the guy…I genuinely feel bad for him but he ain’t cut out to where the hoops and has been caught out defensively so many times it beggars belief.

  5. Just on and aff oot as KevJ would say, too many ’67 trolls on here. BTW are sydney quim and naebrane 67 joined at the hip.

But for his mistakes he’d be a good player

Unfortunately he cost us the game last night …sadly not for the first time

Craig Gordon was forgiven and he made two.

  9. The huns get pelters on here but at least they are loyal, we were supposed ta be faithful (through and through).

As Oldtim said, if Celtic make you that unhappy then either find another team or hobby. Oh and please nae response about happy clappers etc. I remember the old board and a punter in the stand with a noose shouting ‘this is for you Mr. Kelly”.

Spoiled weans the lot of you.

  10. I’m all for giving Ronny pesters when he gets it wrong but tonight he picked the correct 11.

Some folk saying Janko should have came on? He wasn’t on the bench as got injured in the warm up.

    We made 2 individual errors.

As someone said, Fene cost probably 30 times as much in transfer fees. RVP gets paid more in a week than our entire first team.

And yet, we played the better football. And that’s with many young Scots, inc one of 18 years!

It’s a personal opinion but I’m happier drawing like we did last night compared to how we often did under Lenny, by defending deep and going long to Sammi.

Fenerbache were very poor …quite obviously a team of overpaid yesterday’s men who weren’t that interested

Our set up was good ….until the 43rd min we had played very well and Fenerbache were short of ideas …then Efe cocked it up …twice

Btw ..this zonal marking is costing us on a weekly basis …to persist with this in current firm will be very poor management

  12. garygillespieshamstring on

I thought celtic played well last night. Tactics were sound but individual errors cost us.

I thought Efe was playing well till he made error but did not hide afterwards.

In terms of selection, we played the only option we had. Blackett was ok v raith but wanting against Aberdeen. Putting him in would have left an inexperienced left side and another weak performance would have left the young boy subject to ridicule from msn and a number of supporters. Not worth the risk imo. Imagine the reaction on here if he had blundered. Better to allow him tiime than potentially destroy his future. O’Connell is not ready as he lacks pace and can be exposed on his weaker side.

Lustig the man at right back.

Based upon the availability of players, I couldn’t really see any alternative to the back four we played.

I am sure that if fit, jozo would have partnered dedryk, whom I thought had a good game.

  13. Gooooooood Morning CQN

And it is Good Morning, I’m still a Bhoy :-)

  14. Yip best game in a Celtic shirt for Dedryck Boyata,

see another positive, along with young Kieran and a return to form for Broonie :-)

With regards the subs last night, every one was due to their request through injury, Young Tierney had asked the bench twice before it happened, Johansen ( a negative :-(() was bent over in centre circle and in pain as he was removed ( was he on :-)), and Jamesy was struggling with a thigh injury as he went off

  19. Good contest in which we competed well with the Turkish league leaders, some ‘supporters’ have a need to have a scapegoat, Efe is the latest in line.

  20. I suppose you have to at least admire the dedication of those who post on here, on the website for a team they don’t even like.

Like taxes, trolls will always be with us.

I’m glad I support, Scotland’s biggest, most successful team, the only one left in Europe this season.

  21. Morning all.

    Plenty positives from last night.

Hindsight not required when analysing Effe.

We know he is prone to a howler.

Other options were limited. Experience is required throughout the team ,especially when a young Tierney is given a start, which begs a question.

Given his performance , how many have slipped away from Lennoxtown without being given a chance , which only seems to occur due to suspension or injury to a senior player?

As a support , who are prone to combustion after dropping points in the SPL , do we share any blame ?

    Treble’s are paramount apparently.

The Huns had plenty don’t you know.

A wee check out of the Ross County first eleven will show at least 4 from Lennoxtown.

I’m not saying they are the answer.

What I am saying is there might be some hidden gems , maybe even a central defender who we never received a proper chance and we as a support are partly culpable.

Overall I’m more than satisfied with Celtics performance last night.

    Tierney was sound.

Broony immense. Boyatta , Lustig ,and Bitton all played superb. The rest , all played a part.

We are where we are. Far from perfect but still Celtic and still with lots to play for.

Away to walk the dug. HH

  22. Efe Ambrose!

Easy to blame him for this defeat. I did last night.

But given some thought to it I am beginning to get really disheartened with Ronny and the whole team.

Even losing the 1st howler to Efe’s disastrous calamity the team had a full 20 mins break to gather themselves and for manager to reorganise them.

Second half we looked like a completely different side to that that played first 42 mins.

Again lost a goal from a set piece. At the very least out ever changing defence should be organised to man mark the main threats in the opposition ranks until such time as a settled defence is in place. We can hardly go 45 minutes without changing a defender never mind a few games on the trot. Defensively we are a shambles.

How did we managed to go from playing a pretty decent possession game with some slick attacking play always on front foot in first 42 mins to sitting in and punt in hope pish we were in second. And why when going so badly wrong did it take so long for manager to make any changes.

Lastly, what the … was the point in bringing on Armstrong in 89 mins???

Ronny are you actually watching the same as me. My position at game is not too far removed from yours in dug out. Why as a manager do you seem incapable of seeing what everyone around you sees.

For the first time I believe the managers jacket should be on a shoo fly nail. You can’t keep making the same mistakes over and over again and not expect the consequences.

If true and he holds Efe responsible for 48 to 52 mins if a shambolic performance then it’s time to buy yourself a larger mirror to look in Ronny!

MWD said AYE and getting really disheartened and frustrated.

  23. ....PFayr supports WeeOscar on

Of concern to me last night was the lack of options on the bench

In attack we had Ciftci …who signed him ….I refuse to believe he was our main signing target …perhaps for my own sanity as much as anything else

  24. ANGELGABRIEL on 2ND OCTOBER 2015 8:52 AM

I would suggest we haven’t missed many, if any gems. None who have left have gone onto become stars at a higher level. Our youth set up produces decent SPFL players but nothing more, Forrest (when fit) being the exception in recent years.

  25. On Efe..

His mistakes tend to be of the comic cuts variety (like Tebily), therefore he is an easy target. I suspect once Simunovic is fit Efe’s Celtic career will be all but over.

More broadly, there is a horrible tendency amongst some fans to almost revel in his mistakes. I’ve seen this with Agathe, Petta, Sammi, and now Cifti too.

It’s horrible. We cannot call ourselves the best supporters in the world if we fail to give support to players who are struggling. That, after all, is the definition of supporter. It’s easy to cheer a Larsson, or McStay, or Dalglish. These were tremendous players who were on form much more than they were off form.

Real supporters don’t turn on a player who is giving his all, but who has made one terrible mistake. They encourage him, cheer him on.

What is it the song says…? “you’ll never walk alone…”? Some Celtic supporters – in the ground and on this blog – need to seriously reflect on whether they understand the meaning behind our most famous song…

  26. Good morning CQNers,

Sandman @ 1:07 am – your comments on zonal marking are probably the best argument against it that I’ve seen – zonal marking predicates everyone is waiting for the ball to come to them whereas the best way to defend a corner is to attack the ball and get there first.

Efe, what can you say? Nice man but he continually heads the ball with the top of his frigging head and the last time i saw that was on a school playing field.

  27. Dunno why people are moaning about Armstrong on the 89th min.. We lose a lot of goals late on and as people pointed out young jamesy was struggling.

Overall an 8/10 for the whole team from me. Play like that every week and it will be a successful season.

  28. Efe is not the problem. Merely a sympton of it.

A not quite good enough player who might get bye with loads of quality around about him.

Unfortunately years of downsizing, necessary or otherwise ensures that quality is in short supply.

    Asked last night.

Did DD have brass neck to show up?

  29. As usual – when we lose a goal at a corner, zonal marking gets it in the neck. Costs us lots of goals they say. Apparently not as many goals as the system used by the teams we play against:

    CQN Corner Stats 2015/2016 (Domestic)

    Games: 10

    Corners Conceded: 37

    Goals Conceded: 0

    Corners Awarded: 82

    Goals Scored: 1

    CQN Corner Stats 2015/2016 (Europe)

    Games: 8

    Corners Conceded: 36

    Goals Conceded: 4

    Corners Awarded: 43

    Goals Scored: 6

    Read that again.

Zero goals conceded from corners domestically. Four conceded in Europe (better opposition?). A total of four conceded from 83 corners.

  30. On a personal level, big Effe must be feeling horrible today.

Dreading going into training, feeling the eyes on him and the conversations stopping as he comes by. Everyone will be supportive, and that’s how it should be.

However bad we feel, he will be worse and he has been an honest and committed Celtic player in his time here. He does his best and doesn’t hide

I hope he plays at Hamitlon on Sunday. I hope he scores and has a bit of public rehab.

Ongoing, he won’t be part of the team, it was crystal clear in Ronny’s voice last night what he thought. That’s the right call. For now though, he is one of us.

  31. BADA BING!! on 2ND OCTOBER 2015 1:26 AMDoes anyone know what John Kennedy’s role is ? Remembering RD was a centre half.Does he have any influence?WEST END OF EAST END on 2ND OCTOBER 2015 1:40 AMIs John Kennedy now going to be the next Celtic scape goat boo bhoy ? I don’t know who you Celtic supporters are, you are not people that I associate with…always a scape goat or a boo bhoy but giving it out to John Kennedy shows you up for what you are;….

Where am i looking for a scapegoat? Kennedy has a major role in our set up,he was a CB,i am asking what his principal role is,the defence is shambolic at times, zonal marking fails us.We must be the only team in football, who don’t block opposing runs at corners in our box.Perfectly reasonable points to ask,or do we just keep on making the same mistakes? John Kennedy is part of this.

Morning Bhoys I really like Ronny but he is beginning to annoy me with some of his comments now he has said Celtic dont have a problem when it comes to throwing away leads. Anyone can look back at our recent European matches since Ronnys arrival to see we have a problem of throwing away the lead in games.Come on Ronny think before you speak your beginning to make yourself look as though you dont know what your talking about.
