Never did like ManU as a club.

Not sure if it was due to their sense of entitlement , or the media fawning, or , perhaps the Fergie Hun like bullying.

However, even though I never sent them Christmas cards, they had a presence about them.

They had some great players and a certain panache.

This present incarnation, have neither presence, personality or charisma…….and have been so for the past few years.

  2. Good final, better than the usual borefests. Southampton deserved extra time at least but Zlatan was the one world class player on the park and it showed.

  3. Mourinho’s face tripping him, no doubt a pre planned rant about not playing well enough to follow…….

  4. Big Fraser not at his shot stopping best today. They deserved extra time though. His supreme arrogance did his stuff. That is why it ended 3-2

32 career trophies for Ibra, world class.

  7. really gutted with the news of King Billy’s revelation. So many memories, such happy times. He really was what CELTIC is all about. Loved the guy.

Best wishes to his wife and family during the very daunting future, Praying for a miracle.

Floating: Just read your article from the sidebars about your Uncle Billy.

I went on the Ardrossan Garryowen CS bus from funnily enough Ardrossan in the year to which you refer (and many other years!) and I will probably have known you Dad.

It is a small world this CQN! HH.

Pedro from Chelsea (ex-Barca) has 20+ and is easily a decade younger than Ibra

    WeeBC,

……. and coincidentally, all three were centre half’s.

  13. DAVIDOPOULOS-who’s idea was that?my first granddaughter was born on the 31st of march, the wee darling will be 5 this march,:-)

  14. BBC Scotland showed imo the most important goal King Billy ever scored: the one against Dunfermline to win the 65 Cup Final. My happiest day following Celtic bar none and I do mean none.

  15. Parkheadcumsalford

You got it in one. My coming of age was that iconic victory against Dunfermline.

That goal was the ‘hinge factor’ which led to everything which followed.

Although I knew what was happening to Billy, the ‘official ‘ news has shaken me.

Hail Cesar (he was not named for the Roman Emporar) but an a,together better looking guy.

  16. GFTB-2:06pm-with out doubt my favourite ever Celtic supporting season, the auld yins have 67,we have 88:-)))))))((

  17. Gerryfaethebrig on

    The Huddle….. Pedro is a young 29 :-)

Fairhill Bhoy….. You better believe it, I think 87/88 was far important than Henrik and Harald, that’s when we beat the cheats at their height of cheating :-)

  18. Fairhall Bhoy

    Can I have 67 AND 88 please ?

I was 9 and 30 – had a drink both days right enough – in 67 I grabbed what I thought was an iron Bruce off the mantelpiece- turned out to be my uncles’ whisky!

  19. Been a funny day, sorry not funny that’s the wrong word. I was looking forward to a day doing nothing but cooking, eating and drinking whilst watching football.

The news of Big Billy put a dampener on our mood although many of us would have suspected this was on the cards. Good luck and good wishes to him and his family. A great leader and a great man.

To more mundane matters, the good people (you know who you are) who sorted my ticket yesterday are being shy in taking payment. I insist on paying , if this is not what you want, I will pay a donation to the Kano foundation as a suitable substitute. Would that be okay? If I don’t hear by tomorrow night I will pay the money in on Tuesday.

    Hail! Hail!

    Gentlemen,

I have a photograph taken at the Kilmeny Hotel, at the Ardrossan CSC’s Player of the Year 1967. The recipient was Charlie Gallagher. Other notables pictured are Stevie Chalmers, Bobby Murdoch and a very young Lou Macari.

Also in the photograph are Provost Ford of Stevenston and CSC officials and their ladies.

  21. SFTB- my uncle who apart from my dad was my next in line hero, was a footballer who happened to play with Hamilton,Motherwell and Chelsea, ended up with Alzheimer’s,which I think is connected to dementia, they blame heading the big leather balls,my uncle pat was my legend:-)
