    Strange times CQN friends. I’ve been intensely busy since lockdown and my daily CQN dose has been limited to reading Paul’s articles during breaks, so no idea what the word on the CQN comments street is or how those outside of my own Celtic supporting family and friends are feeling about things fitba related.

     

     

    One wee concern I had today was one I have had at the start of a fair few seasons – captain marvel, our broonie, looks like he takes a bit of time to get up to speed. Thought he was our weakest link today. He has been written off too many times for little old me to say he won’t be a big player for us this season but there does come a point at which a player needs to manage himself through a demanding season. We have a helluva batch of midfielders to choose from. Talented boys every one and I’m very excited about what ntcham might bring this year.

     

     

    Is it time to protect Scott or is he going to cause me to eat my words??

    Some “peeple” might say we only beat Hamilton today the same Hamilton who have won more games at Ibrox sine March 2020 along with Leverkusen, fair play to Brian Rice to having a go … but I think there is one word that will define this season

     

     

    “relentless”

    great opening performance from the Bhoys. I’m never happy playing with one striker up front at home, but the wide men did their jobs and the midfielders were getting into the box. Mo didn’t spark and christie looked rusty – both will come good.

     

     

    I’m not yet convinced by Taylor but his delivery into the box is quite exceptional and consistently so. His lack of height and pace puts him in the Tavernier category for me – I know this won’t be popular. A combo of his brain and boligolis physique = ideal left back (miss Tierney).

     

     

    Julien is absolutely fantastic and Ajer grew into there game – we still need a tall physical CB – Hamilton had 4-5 headers that could easily have been goals.

     

     

    great start and plenty to ponder!

    If it helps, I had the same dilemma and went for CalMac because of his second half performance…..and because he is a wonderful player :-)

    I agree Robert, thought Brooney & Ajer were our 2 weakest players today but as you said Brooney has been written off many times but keeps coming back & confounding the critics.

     

    Thought if the 3 subs had been brought on at 70 minutes we could have scored 6 or 7.

    very good team unit with our attacking play , could easily have been double figures it not for their goalie.

     

    Once again our frailties exposed at the back , both centre backs far too easily out jumped at corner/free kicks into our box also our captain has to realise that it’s not WWE, he got into a Westling match with their player when he could easily have not got involved in trying to out muscle him and gave away the free kick that led to their goal , think Ajer whispered to Julien at the final whistle ‘have we no been found out yet’.

     

    I know we are an attacking team and we will out score all teams in the this league but my goodness we have a lot to learn in defending.

    Odsonne Edouard’s season opening day hat-trick got me thinking…

     

     

    Clearly Jimmy McGrory has scored the most Celtic hat-tricks with 56, and Henrik Larrson is the best of the modern-day (post-2000) players with 15.

     

     

    However, I can’t find the answer to the question Which Celtic player has scored the most hat-tricks in a single season? 🤔 . It would be nice if someone on here could give a definitive answer. 😊. (And maybe give Odsonne Edouard another personal goal for the season ahead, and make him a legend in the process? 🤔 😊)

    that annoyed me too – making subs with 7mins to go when we are 4-1 up. Dembele touch the ball twice in that time – very frustrating and pointless.

    Don’t join the P67 haters .. while using the vehicle he had given us … surely you don’t need P67 to tell you how the league lies :-)

     

     

    Far too many on here (not your good self) are itching to turn on our host, the irony is lost as they would not have they avenue if P67 ever pulled the plug … I got a very deserved red card after I swore like a trooper and actually acted like a child … a wee while later P67 to his credit welcomed me back while telling me to “play the game and respect the few, very few rules of the blog” … it sort of bugs me when punters have a dig at our host … surely he like ever other Celtic fan just has his own opinion … if we all had the same opinion CQN would be pretty shoite :-)
