    HOT SMOKED

They also play Braga twice in the next couple of weeks- they’ve won 9 drawn 1 and lost 1 of their last 11 games, they’ve beaten Porto twice, at Porto’s ground and in a cup final

Then hearts in the cup at Tyncastle

    ======

Yet coping well so far lol

  2. What a replacement for KT we have found in Young Greg Taylor. An absolute buzz bomb of a LB.Listening to Jullien on Celtic TV,before the game,he said the best trainer was Taylor.Said he was incredible at training. He links up brilliantly with the midfield, especially Calmac. Some terrific passing through to forward players. He will only get better.A diamond.

I thought Hearts played well in the 1st half, but you can see the intensity of Celtic wearing them down,as with other teams, the longer the game goes on.All credit to Lenny for introducing the 3-5-2.We will get better at this system, and can just as easily revert to 4 at the back.So many options.

    Wonderful entertainment.

  3. Mentioning Oli. Last couple of games he seems to be much happier in himself, smiling & enjoying his football.

    Long may it continue.

This won`t be popular but I think Stevie Gerrard came over quite well in his post match interview. He is more honest than most mangers I hear. I don`t expect the Sevcoites to share my view!

I agree with you, in as much as he was brutally honest about the shortfalls in his team, himself and their chances to recover.

That’s a tricky tightrope to walk though. I think his players would prefer he keeps his brutal honesty about them for the changing room. A smarter more experienced manager would have said something along the lines of, ” we win as a team and we lose as a team, we have challenges to fix but we’ll do that together.” Then slaughter them in private.

I sometimes get the impression that SG is all about the image of SG. The man who is always honest with the media, self reflective willing to take all accountability.

Compare that to Neil Lennon. I can only think of one occasion when he publicly stated that some players were just not good enough for Celtic. That was his first spell as manager after the Ross County semi final loss, and frankly he was spot on. Nowadays, he rarely if ever publicly criticises his players, but you don’t get performances like last night without players knowing exactly where they stand and also having trust that their managers has their back. In his own way he is every bit as “honest,” as SG, but he never allows a wedge to be driven between him and his players.

The Rangers players cant say the same of their manager.

  5. Nobody rule out the depression in the Hun camp at the moment.Plays a massive part.Due to the hype they were getting from the media, they thought they were near enough invincible. They have now had several reality checks, and contrary to what some think,Seethins post match slaughtering of them, won’t help one bit.

  6. Gerrard’s post match interviews after a bad result take the same pattern every single time.

He offers zero tactical insight into what went wrong. He comes up with zero solutions. He lambasts the team in general then singles out individuals, highlighting their specific mistakes. He then accepts responsibility for this while offering zero detail on what mistakes he made.

If some people think that’s good management then thank fuck we’ve got Lawwell to appoint our manager.

Gerrard is a bombastic self absorbed fraud.

Was just about to post something similar. The psychology of sport is sometimes overlooked. Last night’s results is a blow for them. We need to focus on keeping on winning of course to keep the pressure on.

Who was the hun player that was telling us all they were the best team in the country?

  8. HOT SMOKED

Fair point mate. My comment wasn’t aimed at you. More a general observation after reading a lot of praise elsewhere for his interview.

  9. The Battered Bunnet on

We knew this season was going to be ghastly in terms of the media war, but there’s something deeply satisfy in watching Sevco’s PR machine going into overdrive as their team goes into reverse.

Note to Jum: You’re not really helping, are you.

  10. As long as Lenny remembers the 29th,and how the other teams have gubbed them.Win the midfield in March. No need to go there and all of a sudden revert to 2 wingers.Would still play 2 strikers, but 4-4-2,would be better.Griff and Eddy would tear them a new one.

  11. A Copy & Paste From The Bear’s Den, from a reasonable, articulate, reflective Hun,

I think so. This ‘bad spell’ comes at a time we’ve had one of our easiest run of fixtures.

What can we change ? Very little as the bench is full of shite too.

celtic on the other hand are relentless.

Hearts away in the cup too ? Nightmare

Thanks for posting the article on football finance from the Independent. A very interesting, thought provoking and scary read all at the same time. When you think back to before the Champions League and Sky Sports domination of televised coverage, it is clear that money has transformed football, and not always for the better.
