You might know better than me but I heard on the radio this week that the aim is to have the hearing all appeals finished in time for sanctions to be applied well before the end of the season. The EPL is desperate for the league not to be “decided” by sanctions so if a points deduction is to be included in possible punishments it needs to be applied long before May

City are trying to drag out the whole process already, challenging the EPL over the legality of the Asdociated Party Transaction rules, I think they’ll be doing whatever they can to prolong this for as long as possible – they know what a bad look it would be for the EPL for the league to take a title away from the best team.

    ==========

Man City were at it and know they were.

So do the authorities know, however their dilemma is what to do about it?

What should the appropriate deterrent be if a club is in breach?

A fine is not a deterrent and if it can be shown Man City obtained a licence to play in FA competitions by deception (call it fraud if they benefited from it to the cost of other clubs) then they should be treated as not entitled to the what they won as a result of that deception.

If they should not have played in the FA Competitions then they cannot lay claim to what they won when they did.

Same applies to the CL as licensing requirements are similar.

There is an exact parallel now with events from 2001 to 2012 when Rangers used ebts with side letters as I will show.

The deception/fraud aspect applies to the 2011 application for a UEFA licence by Rangers where a payable was described as a potential liability when it became overdue on 31st March 2011.

Not many are aware of the ebt/side letter connection from 2001 to the 2011 overdue payable deception which would have voided all UEFA results from 2001 in games that Rangers won or drew using them.

In 2012/13 a Greek club Giannina FC were being investigated as a result of questions raised about tax overdue to Greek taxman.

During this investigation it was discovered 5 Greek players had private agreements not properly declared inn their UEFA Licence application. This fell foul of a UEFA FFP Article in respect of “fair presentation ” of accounts.

UEFA rejected the licence application because there was tax overdue at 31st March (even though it was paid in May) but ALSO because of the private letters that breached the “fair presentation requirement. (Art 47 from memory.)

Giannina appealed to CAS who then upheld the rejection because an overdue payable did exist at 31st March, but did not rule on the private letters issue although UEFA believed a breach had occurred.

I believe the fear of the consequences of the full extent of the “fair presentation” breach with regard to ebt side letters going back 10 years spooked UEFA to such a degree that they were not only unwilling to subject to scrutiny the ebts with side letter question put to them by PL on 25th May 2012, but did not want any investigation by them into the overdue tax issue in 2013 lest it, like the Giannina investigation, identified private agreements with Rangers players or side letters as they were described in reporting by Scottish media (who I doubt had any idea of the parallel “fair presentation ” breach Giannina committed.

The Giannina matter can be read in detail including link to PL letter of 25th May to SFA cc UEFA raising the ebt issue at (fill yer boots Darwin)

    https://res12.uk/timeline-two-part-three-continued-after-the-trial-was-over-june-2017-to-date/

I do NOT recount this aspect now as an excuse to bring up Res12 work, but to make the point that football authority, whether it be the FA, UEFA, SFA or SPL/SPFL, would rather not address the issue of breaches verging on criminality at all (Res12) or delay investigation, than face the consequences of what their investigation would require them to do once the full nature of the breach had been established.

  6. 3 more nights until we hear Handel’s finest welcoming us all to the big stage.

How I longed to hear that music at Celtic Park when it upmost seemed impossible it could ever happen.

Then our first game was postponed due to 9/11 and we had to go play in studio comunale Turin as our first CL game.

The passion and energy displayed by the team that night deserved so much better than a poor referee and a cheating wee runt of an Amoroso gave us.

It was our first taste of CL and we belonged. It felt so good.

Slovan will have that same energised feeling when they come out at CP on Wednesday. I am sure they will be a tougher opponents than we have faced in a competitive game in 9 months.

There is no doubt we have a chance to win the game. There is no doubt in my mind we need to be 150% on it, like against Athletico in Glasgow last year, to get the result we want.

The irony of that music being originally composed for King George’s Coronation and being played at Charles 3’s is not lost on me. The irony that it will be a long time before it is played at ibrox is sweet though.

Let’s hope we hear it 6 or 7 times at CP this season.

  10. Evening all

to all those who pray can I ask you to include in your prayers the 10 young “Tattie Pickers” from Achill Island who perished in a Bothy fire in Kirkintilloch in the early hours of tomorrow morning in 1937.

They died a horrible death having been locked inside the barn which caught fire in the early hours of the morning.

The “official” cause of death was an alleged paraffin lamp from inside but this was later debunked.

87 years on it is still a sensitive subject in the town and rumours persist of death bed confessions by retired policeman of a drunken orgy of sectarian violence.

There is a small plaque marking the site of the incident. It is covered by a mesh guard which probably says much about how little things have changed in this great wee country. 🙄

There are 10 small white pebbles with the name of each victim inscribed.

I came across the site quite by accident a few years ago when I was out walking. I had no idea about it until I asked my mother.

Its not something that has ever been openly discussed or commemorated as far as I am aware.

It’s almost as if the whole town is still ashamed of the incident and doesn’t know how to respond.

But as yourself pointed out Celtic have not lost too many games at Celtic Park recently.

Weather is set fair for Wednesday, we have achieved one objective in topping the SPL and we can achieve another if we beat Slovan Bratislava. Wont be easy we know but if we play to something near our best we could find ourselves first up on CL MOTD Wed 10.40 on the BBC. Not that we need it but that for me would be an added bonus.

    …………..…

Luke MacCowan could have and should have been at Celtic years ago but our World Wide Scouting Network was too busy [Holidaying???? ] ah mean bringing in snowflakes from Japan who got bullied aff the park by big scary Alloa and dozens of other projects who couldn’t kick their own asses, James [ 10 years too late ] McCarthy, which means the scouting network needs now to be put into special measures.

Well at a serious club that would be the outcome, but everybody apart from happy clappy, PLC sucking suculent cowardly sleekits, all know that Celtic are just an Old Firm Handmaids grifter show, or they’ll be closed down for fake abuse issues that strangely all appeared when the local Scottish Govt made it policy to arrest Tims for wearing the Jungle’s old clothes.

SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2024-25

RESULTS FROM GAME #6 CELTIC 2 HEARTS 0 (ENGELS, McCOWAN)

    Good evening, friends.

It’s strange how quickly we had become used to watching our games in a pretty relaxed state, scoring early, being well in control and putting the game to bed. But yesterday took us back to the good old days of being a wee bit edgy and nervous for 80-odd minutes until our 2nd goal finally came in.

One change in the starting XI and when you spend record money on a player it’s probably not a surprise that he gets a starting place. But what did surprise me was that it was Bernardo, our man of the match in our previous game, who dropped to the bench. Engels took a wee while to get properly involved in the match but from about 25 minutes onwards he started to show some really good awareness and touches, linking well with his new team mates. A nice touch by Reo Hatate to hand over penalty taking duties early in the second half to allow Arne to open the scoring. And equally pleasing that the goal to seal the points was scored by another of our deadline day signings, Luke McCowan who really is living the dream.

A pity that Adam Idah’s injury time goal was disallowed for offside during the build up, particularly as our only other natural striker Kyogo is currently passing up more chances than previously. I think they both just need a couple of goals to set them off running any vying for the first pick place.

As for the referee, a new guy to me and he pretty much got every single big decision wrong. Awarding a penalty then chopping it off, missing a clear handball then awarding a penalty and failing to spot Palma’s offside in the lead up to Adam’s ‘goal’. OK, a bit harsh to blame him for the third error but as a whole he did fail to impress.

We have now played 6 games this season, winning them all. We have scored 17 and conceded just 1. We remain top of the league by 7 goals ahead of our nearest challenger, Aberdeen who visit Celtic Park on 19th October. Bother teams have 2 league games before then but I expect we may still both be on maximum points by the time we meet.

The voting numbers dipped a little this week but remain at a very healthy level! My thanks to the 74 who contributed this time around.

The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.

    Schmeichel*: 20

    Johnston: 2

    Carter-Vickers*: 42

    Scales: 41

    Taylor: 21

    McGregor*: 20

    Engels: 53

    Hatate: 4

    Kuhn: 14

    Kyogo: 1

    Maeda: 0

    Forrest: 0

    Bernardo: 0

    Idah: 0

    McCowan: 4

    Palma: 0

And so, the players receiving POINTS for the game against Hearts are –

    Engels – 5 points

    Carter-Vickers – 4 points

    Scales – 3 points

    Taylor – 2 points

McGregor and Schmeichel – 1 point each

And the overall positions after 6 games played are –

    17 points – McGregor

    12 points – Hatate

    11 points – Kuhn

    9 points – Maeda

    8 points – Scales

    7 points – O’Riley

5 points – Bernardo, Engels and Taylor

    4 points – Carter-Vickers

    3 points – Forrest and Johnston A

    2 points – Kyogo

    1 point – Schmeichel

0 points – Holm, Idah, Johnston M., McCowan, Palma, Ralston, Turley, Yang

And so we now look forward to our first ever game in the new format of the Champions league, a home tie this Wednesday against Slovan Bratislava with an 8.00pm kick off. Do us proud, Bhoys.

Sadly, surely I am not the only one who feels suspicion on these recent events. Its Trump, nothing is impossible, especially in Florida.A SS agent driving by on the fairway in a Golf cart, sees a rifle sticking out of the bushes !!!.Really.Soooooo many reasons why that would seem unlikely. Not least the shooter retracting it when he heard the approach. Not having it on view in the first place, maybe.

Maybe its all feasible, but like everything else with Trump, really hard to believe.
