A comfortable performance from us today . You’d forgive our players from holding a bit back for the midweek game there were quite a few playing within themselves.
We haven’t played a single decent team since December last season. Hearts should be a proper test before Wednesday night but we’re so much better than everyone else in Scotland I hope we don’t get shocked by a team of a far better standard than what we’re used to. I’m sure Brendan will be mindful of this and have team prepared but it we’ll see a step change in quality even against the poorest team we’ll face so I hope there’s no complacency.

I applaud UEFA for their initiative and the EU for its ‘specificity of sport’ definition. The uber-rich clubs don’t like it and it may just bring a breakaway Super League that bit closer.
I admit that I’m not across every line and paragraph of regulations – I like to keep it simple and use the term ‘financial doping’. The Ibrox club used it to sign players they otherwise couldn’t have ordinarily afforded, and gained honours to which they were not entitled. So we have seen it close up, albeit on a smaller scale.
Celtic and Peter Lawwell have had significant involvement although some will not want to acknowledge it.

Mentioned it before but participating in the new CL format is about more than just the money. UEFA made a good decision when it granted the BBC the CL MOTD highlights package first up on Wed Sept 18 10.40 BBC1.
Some may have noticed the Beeb already promoting the show with Celtic in the famous green n white hoops featuring prominently. If we peform well in games we will get the added bonus of BBC wide coverage. Does help that we have one of the most distinctive and recognisable strips, and that we are in with four EPL teams. If a player or a team (or its supporters) wants to boost its visibility this is the opportuniy to seize.
Weather really does look good in Glasgow on Wednesday, we are getting closer to being a decent European team again, certainly at home, so lets seize the moment, Falkirk can wait, Europe wont.

Good Morning Celts…
Well, a hard fought for three points against a tough, resilient Hearts side.
Not the smoothest we’ve played this season, no shifting through the gears, think all the players had their moments but definitely a lack of consistency through the game.
Of course below par Kyogo would normally have had us ahead in the first half.
Midfield looking good, Reo below par but Bernardo and McCowan came in and looked good.
Shame Idah’s goal was chalked off, the big man looked more assured and three nil wouldn’t have flattered us.
Tough to pick three but Engels has a tough ask to replace Matt O’Riley and thats not going to be instant, yet the bhoy looked different class and has it all, looks so composed for a twenty year old – great penalty.
Kuhn, not at his best with the final ball but he offers so much, stepped up in the second half when we needed to put real pressure on Hearts.
The defence certainly needs a mention, a solid performance and Schmeichel, CCV or Liam could get the nod, yet Kasper gets it – some good saves that insured the three points and a real presence with excellent distribution.
Jeez reading back was like a late night Lawwell love in.
