  1. Anybody get the feeling this season can obnly get worse – after yesterday’s weirdness, I thought this is only the beginning of the spiral. Flustercuck

I’m sure we played Arbroath at Parkhead (won 6-0 ?) When the dead club played Berwick and lost – maybe cove will spring a surprise.

Chances are the Cup will be postponed.

Think you are right. Sad though that in this season of all seasons we only have the cup to play for.

  5. Andy Patons Mullet on

Strange sensation watching the game without nerves (the league was lost by start of December). The young team who played are miles away from first team slots, at 19 they should be as fit as a butchers whippet and have been knocking down the door to this team- who is to blame coaches or manager?

Rogic and Johnston as established first teamers were both a disgrace last night – pair of prima donnas who should have been carrying the team, as it was Turnbull and Soro again led the way. God forbid anything happens to them or this season shambles will get far far worse.

The CEO and DD have a seismic decision to make soon – with no g/tee of full stadia even for next seasons start they will need a Baldrickesq cunning plan to get the ST numbers secured – box office manager and serious recruitment in first team or see said ST numbers plummet.

What this season has shown is that PL ego to be a main player in player & manager recruitment / involvement will cost him any legacy of business achievements for the club.

New Manager that selects his own staff and players within a predetermined budget is the minimum he needs to agree to. Whether a DoF also comes in to be the bridge is another point however what happens on the field is where the clubs success starts and stops, it all comes from there.

  6. Although we still are, Celtic no longer feel like Champions to me.Indeed, I feel Sevco are out on their own and we are in a small group alongside Aberdeen and Hibs. Hopefully, that will change when the isolation is over.

If we are still on virtual tickets for next season, how many will renew?

This will depend on what happens with the manager/board/future plans.

If things stay the same? 25000 max I would say.

….maybe not the best time to ask that question :-))

Perfect time to ask the question. This shambles has been an insult to every Celtic supporter. These clowns expect is to buy the merchandise and season tickets whilst they erect barriers and leak stories to the sun newspaper. Disgraceful.

  9. Stephen Welsh 4 first team appearances.

Ryan Porteous 60 first team appearances

Why are our young players not developing at Celtic ,if there is no reserve league to play in get them out on loan.

Maybe the reason we have lost young players to other teams ie German teams is because they see that the coaching is poor ?

If Ryan Porteous was at Celtic he would be in the stands watching loans Duffy / Benkovic or god forbid Gallagher in front of him

What a shambles we have greated going for 10

  10. glendalystonsils on

Nine years to go from the very bottom of Scottish senior fitba to the very top. Not the sort of miracle you could manage on your own , eh?

  11. I think we now have to accept that the league is gone.

To go from a position of total dominance, on and off the park, to this, is a remarkable achievement by the Titans running the Club, and a suitable legacy for them.

In the absence of root and branch change anyone buying a season book for next season is going to be complicit after the fact in the whole shameful debacle.

  13. Thanks for the replies. If renewal time was tomorrow, I would imagine uptake would be rather small :-)

    Cheerio for now.

  14. I definitely won’t be renewing. Root and branch change required and not just a big name manager to placate us. Always given the board the benefit of the doubt but not anymore

  15. WELL DONE JOHNNY HAYES on 11TH JANUARY 2021 11:25 PM

agree 100% especially with NO player has progressed/improved under Lenny’s watch.

  16. none and I repeat none of the ‘younger squad’ players looked anywhere near good enough to start , too small and lightweight and all they same to be coached to do is a step over.

  17. The “defending” of Hibs goal last night is possibly the wort of the season. Turnbull out muscled for the initial header, keeper flapping about like an amateur, while 3 Celtic players retreat to the line leaving 4 Hibs players unmarked in the 6 yard box. Duffy with a chance to clear weakly stabs it into the path of Nisbet who can pick his spot.

    Truly shambolic

  18. I do not think you can fault one celtic player for the performance tonight. A draw was a decent result against a decent team and all you so called celtic fans giving out your low numbers out of ten should actually look at yourselves and ask how many out of ten would you get as a CELTIC SUPPORTER. Not very high i imagine.

i suppose its the internet age, people can say the first thing in their head instead of making measured responses.

To me, the rot seeped in 2011when PL said “we can stand alone as a football club” then proceeded to do everything in his power to realise sevcos phoenix club.

He should have been aiming for europe and the wealth that could bring to a well run club year upon year.

For PL to think sevco would perhaps stick to whatever underhand agreement was made shows a tremendous naivety that only a fool can believe. as celtic won leagues and cups everybody watched sevco and laughed at them., more fool us

With no official Celtic voice calling out about the repeated trangressions of the now zombified club, the smsm were emboldened to keep putting out anti celtic stories ,The refereeing of games become worse and worse and some so called tackling was an affront to sport. try to think as a celtic player knowing the next tackle you take could be your last as a professional and that it is accepted by your own team.

There was NEVER a doubt in my mind that you are either a celtic fan or you are anti celtic in scotland. By staying at the back of the bus and keeping their mouths shut tight Celtic PLC deserves everything they have got. which is unfortunately wads of cash from the celtic fans. Celtic board? Cowards to a man.

i would love to say now things will change but they will not. And if you think we will compete with Rangers as they steal and lie their way to the next trophy you are sadly mistaken.

  19. 16 goals conceded in the last 20 minutes of games this season. That’s a stat showing a fitness problem.

Youth players thrown in and looking out of their depth. That’s a developmental problem.

It’s almost like the paper over the cracks has come off and we see the issues in plain sight all at once.

Another day closer to change I guess. Bring it on.

Apparently the Compliance Officer is to study our holiday camp photos.

Wasn’t it only yesterday they said there would be no investigation?

why would this be an issue , we shouldn’t have any photos to be concerned about ,we where there for a elite training camp overseen by highly qualified paid professionals.

but the defensive coaches don’t see an issue with our defending or the players are simply not good enough or don’t listen/care.

  22. Notthebus,

We have many contenders in the bloopers reel for this season – El Hamed’s strange defensive tackle against Ferencvaros, Duffy running the wrong way against Sparta, McGregor’s childlike header against the Huns…….

  23. Cannot see any of the young lads with exception of Welsh and Henderson getting close to the 1st team.

It was Mikey’s 1st start in a year but he is still very lightweight. No evidence of him having bulked up in any way.

I feel sorry for those families who have shelled out a fortune to watch this awful team on a laptop.

  24. onenightinlisbon on

I respect people’s right to renew their ticket should the want to but if things stay the same then all you are doing is allowing the corrupt board to continue on the road to self destruction.

  25. Andy Patons Mullet on

Don’t buy a season book and open the door to Sevco’s bust or flush gamble paying off for another season.

Buy a season book through a love of all things Celtic and inwardly hate yourself if the club directors don’t react as they should – re-establish the club as the dominant force in the country and an ability to compete at a European level ie qualify for CL and play to level that means we aren’t the whipping boys in any group.

Surely to fxck DD knows what needs done to remedy the situation that could engulf us.

So, rather than foam at the mouth, I’m going to suggest a way forward.

What I’m about to write comes with a caveat – it’s only achievable with improved management and leadership.

The manager – his position was safe so long as there was an outside chance of winning the league. For me, last night’s result puts the final nail in the coffin. The manager is therefore finished: I know that, you know that, he knows that, so what will that mean for his motivation, particularly as the rest of the league season is pretty much all about fulfilling fixtures?

John Kennedy should replace him asap and be made fully aware he has the role ONLY until the end of the season. He is a young coach who will want to (and probably needs to) stay in the game, so his motivation level will be greater than the manager’s. Securing second place and a decent Scottish Cup run would be good for his CV and help him find a new position in the summer.

Players – we want to give the new manager the best chance possible, which means providing resources. I’d cut short Duffy and Elyanousi’s loan deals to save cash (I’d keep Laxalt only because the alternative is so dreadful). Looking at the squad, I’d get what I can for Nitcham, Christie and probably Edouard given their value is likely to be lower in the summer and they want to leave anyway. Like Laxalt, we need to keep Ajer and McGregor until the summer out of necessity. The money saved on loanee wages and player sales should be put aside for the new manager and be supplemented by the proceeds from Ajer and McGergor (probably) in the summer.

The Board – this is where leadership comes in and Dermot Desmond has to show some. He needs to find a new CEO and manager long before the start of next season. As soon as a new CEO is found it should be announced the current incumbent will retire at the end of the season. The new manager should be announced the day after our last game of the season. Hopefully with enough notice he’ll have a list of players he wants and we can hit the ground running.

This season has been an unmitigated disaster and changes need to be made. Dermot Desmond is the most important piece in the jigsaw and the only one who can get the ball rolling. Time’s a waisting and he should start asap.

  27. onenightinlisbon on

The board are complicit in the Zombie rising of that there is no doubt. We are run by individuals who appear to care more about protecting their own self interests and those of their biggest rival over those of the club and supporters. why would anyone really want to buy into that model?

  28. ANDY PATONS MULLET on 12TH JANUARY 2021 11:24 AM

Why not just pay at the gate rather than remove any influence you have over what the board do before the season even starts, which is what buying a season book involves?

Excellent post . What are the chances though ? Dermot is the key ,as you say , but I don’t know that he takes any notice of what the fans want .

  30. I know we have caused our own problems. However there’s no way 13 first team hun members would be isolated. There’s no way refs are reffing them the same as the rest of the league.
