Thoroughly entertaining afternoon yesterday spent in the best of company in paradise
The refereeing lately since Celtic opened up a 5-point gap can only be called out as cheating, McLean did his best but alas a poor Hibernian team put to the sword by an effervescent Angeball performance undid his hopes
The big plus for me yesterday was the quality of delivery from wide areas in the first half 3-0 after 25 minutes, Bernabei/Haksa on the left and Forrest/Ralston on the right, having that variation with precision makes the taking of opportunities easier
Agree with the comments on Porteous his falling down trick at RB in the second half as he was bundled by the heavyweights from Japan was ridiculous, been disappointed by the unfair criticism of our Japanese brothers lately, Kyogo and Hatate have still to mature as players if allowed they will blossom again stick with quality always
I know that ” The TOLBOOTH” opens at 11am on a Sunday. Maybe ” MACKINNONS” will open earlier ?
Im not sure about the other Pubs, but you have asked the right Bhoy in BRRB….If he doesnt know…nae body will !

What a game yesterday, while I predicted a “cracker”, which of course we got, I’d expected more than a bit part from Hibs who were over run by a rampant Celtic side.
Not sharing others trepidation of the team selection, it is no surprise that finding three players for Jobo’s POTY presents immense difficulties – a strong defence, a dominant midfield and a deadly strike force means candidates galore.
History was made at Celtic Park yesterday by the Celtic old guard, James Forrest a Celt as man and bhoy scoring a hat-trick to become only the thirtieth player in our illustrious history to score a hundred goals, with over a hundred assists it takes him into a very elite club.
So, that leaves us two – an impossible task, in the first half Haksabanovic and Bernabei were phenomenal, so much so, the game was over as a competition by half time. A tour de force of defence to attack, to interplay and interchange which was simply sublime.
Yet going for those two means no more wishes and Giakoumakis as an embodier of the modern centre forward and two goals to boot, means he too is a very strong candidate.
So with vote one a no brainer going to the MOTM I’m going for the ghuys who roared, you need to start me. That is Bernabei and Giakoumakis who put solid stakes in the ground, sure it is tough on a few – Matt as the new Calmac (who he!?) and Haksabanovic immense and the fact he only played one half is the poor excuse I’d give for not picking him.
Now what do fholks think about Giakoumakis at number nine and Kyoto at numbet ten, not for all matches but thosr “must win” games – I’d like to see how Shakhtar copes with that at Celtic Park.
Have a great day Celts

Celticforever- Think the Tolbooth is best bet.
The Budgie at Blochairn used to do a lovely liquid breakfast but alas like most old pubs its opening at respectable times…boohoo
I HATE Jack Grealish….a £100 Million IMPOSTER with Man City. He just one of the many LUCKY Bassa’s that I have seen in professional Fitba, who is part of a Club that has some outstanding players, which gets him many Win Bonuses most weeks.
He is a dud….an Imposter earning millions.
BBC Match of the Day Pundits………whoever thinks that JERMAINE JENAS is a good Pundit or a so called Fitba Expert needs urgent help. Jenas is NOT the only CHUMP DUD on that show.
Ian Wright and Mikel Richards along with Mr Lineker, just like to laugh at each others CRAP Patter, that its so embarrassing.
I HATED it when Ian Wright was signed by Celtic…Just like Jim Melrose.
I am thinking of cancelling my Direct Debit for the TV License.
That other DUD…” Joe Cole” claimed on BT Sport that Brendan Rodgers would NOT walk away from Leicester, as he is a honourable man blah blah…
Somebody should tell Joe Cole that Rodgers WALKED OUT of Celtic FC.
Joe Cole…another Imposter as a Player and so called Fitba Pundit.

Celtic linked with Steve Hitchen
Ange looking to expand his scouting expertise
Hitchen was born in Salford, England. A defender, he played for Blackburn Rovers and Macclesfield Town in the Football League and Bangor City.
After his playing career ended, he worked as a football talent scout . He started at Tottenham Hotspur in the mid-2000s as a part-time European scout, and played a part in the signings of Luka Modrić and Benoit Assou-Ekotto. He moved to Liverpool in 2010 to join Damien Comolli who was once his superior as the director of football at Tottenham. He helped signed Luis Suárez to Liverpool in 2011.[1] He then became head of European scouting for Queens Park Rangers, and in 2016 joint director of recruitment at Derby County. He was appointed the chief scout for Tottenham Hotspur in February 2017 as a replacement for Paul Mitchell[2] and left the club in February 2022.[3]

James Forrest gagging to show the way to goal, the Ayrshireman’s attributes left overly long on the bench? for the first time in his career. Doesn’t hit a ball as hard or as truely as some but his balance, poise and his pace have made him a great asset for more than a decade.
Then there is his Celtic radar which guides him en route to goals. The most prolific ‘winger’ of all time at Celtic, shows a merry go round of multi million pound players his in built composure and how to put a ball in the pokey. Sure, he’ll miss more again, like all forwards but he’ll likely still be scoring no matter how long or old the debate or the next extension.
Don’t need to mention assists when you’re away with the matchball. James’s third I’d swear I’ve witnessed dozens of times, searing pace, and a lifted finish to beat any keeper, an art form still to be perfected by his peers.
Bernabei out of his continent showed glimpses of the talent we paid for, as he settles here on the other side of the world. Ralston provides perfect cover for Jura and put in another great shift. GG
too good for the bench, or a testimony to AP’s squad depth. Aaron Mooy at last seized his starting berth and had a fine game, resilient Maeda scored from the inside channel where he belongs. Kyogo was just pipped for the icing on the cake, which would have been the second sumptuous seven of the week.

As players are fouled in possession, then obviously the team with most possession should have most fouls against their players. With the abundance of statistics around, someone surely has a record of this?
Based on my random observations and calculations after games, Celtic are penalised far, far more than the opposition.
I would be very surprised if the same claim could be made accurately re Sevco.

After Messers McLean & Co’s display yesterday there is a timely piece on Sentinel Celts – maybe some Celtic shareholders on CQN would be interested…

An early pint in Glasgow!
Surely you can go to a hotel to get a couple of early ones in?
Might cost a couple of quid more, but not too bad if you’re only having a couple until the pubs open. 🤷♂️
The most disappointing thing about yesterday, other than not getting into the Sports bar, was the ground being half empty when the final whistle went.
Celticforever 6.53.
Apologies for late reply. Only pubs with early licences are McKinnons on the Gallowgate and Alfredos on West Nile Street.

They probably left early to queue for the sports bar 😉

I never mentioned Sunday in my reply to Celticforever and he didn’t specifically ask me about Sunday early opening.

Alfredo’s would be the best bet ,… although since it’s now 11.35am all the pubs are now open …. The old 12.30pm on a Sunday is now history (I think)

Ive just checked the Websites and MacKINNONS opens at 11am on a Sunday. Same as The TOLBOOTH.
However, ALFREDO’S on West Nile Street is OPEN at 8am on a SUNDAY.
GFTB 11.37.
I doubt if they will lay a glove on them ,be nice if they can give them a game.
Many Pubs STILL do NOT open until 12.30 on a Sunday in Glesga.
Just surfacing after yesterday looking back on the blog.
A big thank you to theBhoys for their good wishes .

And you figured that out 55 years and 11 months ago. 😂
Drouthy’s on Queen Street opens at 11 o’clock on a Sunday and 09.00 hrs Monday to Saturday.
Of course for big Celtic games the Sarry Heid opens at 08.00hrs.
Anyway, what a performance and result yesterday. Just what the doctor ordered.
HH, the journey continues.
