I’m as happy as any fan that we won convincingly today but note:
1. The Hibs defense was the most open we’ve played against for a while – just notice how much space we got in passing for the goals and then the actual goals themselves. It suits us a lot given the superiority of our players
2. Am I right in thinking only JF celebrated his goals with tremendous pleasure. The others were more subdued possibly realizing what happens in the CL and what happens in SPFL against a team that doesn’t park the bus are worlds apart and they’re still disappointed that they couldn’t make the step up.
3. The goals were to some extent due to the weakness of Hibs defense – blunders, deflections etc. Good crosses for sure for a couple but were any of them truly quality goals?
I think Ange will try to face down the board at some point and who knows what will happen – for his style of football to work against better opposition will demand better players including substitutes. He’ll try to achieve that and the board will have to agree or see him go. Traditionally the board is risk aversive – not willing to invest for fear of not getting a proper return on their money. But truth be told CL money and better transfer fees should keep the wolves many miles from the door. See Brugge and Ajax – how much do they get for their players? They pay more, keep them for a few seasons and sell them on for big money after showcasing them in CL. We need to be more ambitious.

I rarely venture over to Sentinel Celts but did so this morning…
… and read with some interest the proposed submission to the AGM regarding referees.
It was nicely be done … but I doubt be whether it will effect any change.
IMHO, the refereeing demographic has to be challenged collectively, consistently and by repeatedly by fans of 41 clubs.
Perception, opinion, interpretation can easily be challenged (translated – swotted away).
Less so with data.
Do our homework. Gather the facts.
Let’s assume for a second 75% of Grade One officials support Sevco (high percentage figures often bandied about – it shouldn’t be that hard to check)
Imagine this statement being cut, paste, rinsed, repeated, across Scottish Football.
“How can the SFA justify 75% of Grade One officials being selected from the supporters of just ONE club when that one club’s average home support constitutes 0.9% of the Scottish population?”

Goldson is a big loss to you know who – with the sale of aribo and shirley last year, their squad is returning to abject mediocrity. The last thing you need is to lose a stalwart at the back . That’s not to say he’s a great player! St Mirren showed we cannot be complacent for one minute but the difference in the squads is already apparent. Come back soon calmac, well done amazing JF!

I agree with you re decisions by McLean yesterday,a lot were poor.
But Var is only applied in certain circumstances.
That was my point mate,we are expecting Var to make a difference, but Var is only used in defined circumstances, those definition should be made clear to us all.
Var will have criteria for its use.
with less than a week to go I think(just like pre epl intro) Var will be used in a host of cases,as we see every weekend on motd,it is still used bizarrely and at times is just as confuddled as the rest of us still.
As me old maths teacher said define your variables then answer.
Re Var we still await definition(when it’s applied)
that’s why most of us are sceptical of change
It’s implementation is confusing instead of being clear.
I agree , there will still be a lot of wriggle room for MIB’s to disadvantage us even with VAR . THat’s before it even gets to their brothers who are doing the monitoring .

What time for the penalty…or has it been given already?
Penalty Bingo starts now- 56 minutes
Great to see Frank McGarvey home yesterday. A most underrated player by many, but not the Celtic support.
Not many former players get a unified welcome when they come back to play us; but Frank did when he played with St Mirren.
Most of us will remember his unselfish approach that ” made” Charlie Nicholas and to a lesser extent George McClusky
Once a Tim always a Tim.
HH to all, the journey continues.
PS : Hibs fans were a disgrace when Frank was on the park. They are NOT our friends.
