There is a group called THE BHOYS who sit together at the back of the south-west corner of the Jock Stein Stand every home game. They sing and chant constantly and obviously add a bit of atmosphere. However, some of their output leaves a lot to be desired.
It seems that every time a policemen comes within 10 yards of them it’s IF YOU HATE THE F—-N POLIS CLAP YOUR HANDS.
But on Saturday they excelled themselves with that old ditty I WAS WALKIN DOWN THE LONDON ROAD SINGIN THIS SONG right through to AND NOW THAT ORANGEMAN IS DEAD. Dear God I thought we had consigned that childish trash to the 1970s.
I’m all for a bit of nostalgia but that is ridiculous. We really don’t need that sort of nonsense surely.

Well, I enjoyed myself on Saturday. It was great to see Celtic turning on the style.
I have to say though, that the referee was a complete Richard. He made up fouls that never happened and had a good view of fouls that he ignored. Almost as if it was a trial of shithousery that would avoid VAR.
That aside, it was, and always is, a privilege to be there in person.

Tend to agree with you that the historic ‘evidence’ for the use of said term is weak, and probably wouldn’t cut it in a US Court in Miami. What might convince me is a Celtic Song with the word ‘hayshed’ in it, but I must admit that, up till now I haven’t heard one, even in the days I stood alongside KevJ in the aul Jungle.

Thanks for the comments.
It would appear that a consensus is starting to develop.
Jungle = post 1945 name with WW2 origins.
From a 70’s perspective I had never heard it called the “Hayshed”.
However comments on old pictures of P/head aka CP2 always seemed to mention the “Hayshed” with its agricultural style roof — not sure if it was red to add to the farm vibe.
Singing — 70’s viewpoint — the Jungle was the main producer of “noise”.
Probably 60 / 40 vs the CE for singing.
Walk on seemed to come from the Jungle.
Plus Sailing was popular with raised scarves later on in the 70’s.
Still outstanding is the talk of a new stand opposite the Main Stand.
Not sure if this was 50’s talk or early 60’s — replacing the Jungle with a stand that extended over Janefield Street. Seemingly big plans until the Council wouldn’t allow the club to build over the street.
Much appreciate the input of your good self and Peter.

I think there were plans to build the north stand back over janefield street in Fergusโ time but objections were raised as the plan included the structure extending over the wall of janefield cemetery.
Since these objections didnโt emanate from the occupants of the cemetery, I can only assume they came from Huns in the locality.

Iโm as happy as any fan that we won convincingly today but note:
1. The Hibs defense was the most open weโve played against for a while โ just notice how much space we got in passing for the goals and then the actual goals themselves. It suits us a lot given the superiority of our players
2. Am I right in thinking only JF celebrated his goals with tremendous pleasure. The others were more subdued possibly realizing what happens in the CL and what happens in SPFL against a team that doesnโt park the bus are worlds apart and theyโre still disappointed that they couldnโt make the step up.
3. The goals were to some extent due to the weakness of Hibs defense โ blunders, deflections etc. Good crosses for sure for a couple but were any of them truly quality goals?
I think Ange will try to face down the board at some point and who knows what will happen โ for his style of football to work against better opposition will demand better players including substitutes. Heโll try to achieve that and the board will have to agree or see him go. Traditionally the board is risk aversive โ not willing to invest for fear of not getting a proper return on their money. But truth be told CL money and better transfer fees should keep the wolves many miles from the door. See Brugge and Ajax โ how much do they get for their players? They pay more, keep them for a few seasons and sell them on for big money after showcasing them in CL. We need to be more ambitious.

Hibs more open than recent teams โ you mentioned Dundee Un. I was thinking of St. Johnstone and St Mirren and CL teams who although didnโt park the bus had tight defenses and thought they made things difficult for our wingers and shooters.
Re. subdued reaction to scoring I was thinking of GG and Maeda.

I donโt think I am better informed than anyone else on here nor do I want to give the impression that my point of view is unassailable, itโs just a point of view based on limited information to encourage responses, to see who thinks what. So thanks for your response.
For what itโs worth, I think weโll win SPFL again and so we should given our superior resources but I want more for Celtic. To improve in CL or even Europa League we will need to complement our attacking verve with better performances in mid-field and at the back and we may need to buy better players for some positions and to ensure substitutes are better. Our style of play means plenty of injuries and a need for substitutes. Is that sustainable if we want success on our current budget?
