    Almore

Big Jimmy and BelmontBrian will do the jokes. 🤣🤣

    ……….

    As the auld song goes…

” Im busy doing nothing, working the whole day through,

Trying to find lots of things not to do,

    Im busy going nowhere,

    Isn’t such a crime,

I’d like to be unhappy, but I never do have the time”.

    LOL

I did rather well with the Horses Today several winners at odds of 6/1, 11/2 4/1, 11/4.

My Celtic bet was the correct score of 4 – 1. So it wasnt the ” correct score”.

    LOL

    HH.

  2. Imo. Ccv and scales don’t command the air defensively and are rarely a threat at attacking corners. I’d prefer another centre with height and quality.

I also think they get zero protection from the left back area – statistically most crosses / passes into our box come from left back area. I’d take a Martin oneil defence all day long

  3. Do you have the stats to back that up?

On what side was the Hibs goal scored today? Do your stats blame the right or left back area for that goal?

  4. Stebhoy

Inclined to agree re the CBs. The problem is that MON defence is totally deficient the attributes needed to play the way Celtic does in 2024.

Likewise Taylor plays the role of 2 players but his one weakness is one he can’t change. His height. It is tough to find the solution.

  5. The huddle. Stats. Sure just ask EVERY Scottish league manager why they instruct their goalkeepers to target out left back area (it’s weak). Just ask why they also instruct their players to long throw every shy into out box. Because they see our weakness.

My opinion and preference is to improve those areas. I agree with Rodgers and most fans.

Doesn’t mean we are right – maybe you are

  6. We have 2 problems in europe and neither are related to our squad and individual positiions

    1. Financially we are minnows

    And much more important

    2. We only face quality opposition in europe

Both issues can be solved by us moving to a better league

Vetter finances and better opposition will lead to us raising our standards in the players we can attract and more importantly the players we can retain

Until then, we are are pi$$ing in the wind and expecting not to get wet

Will we get to a better league? (our league is in decline and both financially and morally bankrupt)

Maybe, but not likely in the short term

  7. great crowd today for a fixture you had to pay for,

if it was over 50,000 that might be our highest league cup attendance in 30+ years.

    incredible support,

  8. Great start to the season though, no?

Kuhn looks to be a real threat now, stronger and quicker, and more confident than last season.

Jamesie seems to be reborn, more direct and full of confidence as well

I couldn’t see any drop off in quality with Maeda through the middle. With a fitter sharper Idah our striking options will be good as they’ve been for a long time.

Great work from Brendan, this group looks totally at ease with how they’re being asked to play.

Thoroughly enjoying watching us play at the minute

  9. Another winner at the Horses at odds of 2/1.

One more Horse to hopefully win and give me FIVE outta Six winners on the same line. My first Horse sadly finished 2nd at odds of 8/1.

Ive already had THREE Winners outta Four on another line earlier.

IF my last Horse wins the 6.15….I will be almost as rich as Celtic….. Then again maybe NOT Today ?

    LOL.

    HH.

  10. boondock saint on

Someone said during the week that we would only get about 35,000 for this game today. No way I thought because if my team is playing football the Glasgow Celtic way the. I want to be there in the flesh. It was a great header by the Hibs player, first goal we have given up this season. Great delivery by Boyle. I see by the BBC stats that we gave away more fouls again. Bhoy oh Bhoy what a dirty lot we are😂😂

  11. The key thing for me in Europe is improvement.

As always we wait to see the draw but looking at the pots, we should be winning games.

Great start to the season though, no?

    —————

Great post for those of us that didn’t get to see the game.

    Cheers. 👍

Mon Brendan and the hoops! 😃⚽️🍀🇮🇪🏆🏆🏆👍

  13. An Dún

Our midfield and defence (and how they combine both offensively and defensively) are not pressure tested until we play in europe

Am hoping that with the extra games and only playing each team once

We do a little better as we get more experience at a higher level

  14. Most enjoyable day – we were better in the second-half this week as opposed to last – fitness levels obviously increasing. Khun again impressive and he has the goal habit. Is Maeda the answer to the third striker question – Brendan seems to think so. Imagine it would be difficult persuading an established frontman to come in to be third in line after Kyogo and Adam. I could also see Khun through the middle if needs must.

Great attitude from Matt – maybe we will get to keep him for another season.

Glad to see Palma fit again and hopefully we might get Khun-like improvement from Yang this season. I think Brendan believes in him.

The pitch is in beautiful condition.

Still expecting at least three coming in and possibly four, maybe five if Matt goes, out.

Only caveat is that we have not be pushed so far – no doubt it will come.

Early season – early promise – early progress. HH

  15. Maeda looks a more dangerous striker than Idah :O)

Will be interesting to see how many goals Idah ends up with in a season.

  16. Ghirls win 1 nil,to move into 3rd in table.

Behind hearts and hunmettes on goal difference.

  17. CLUNKS

Every side we come up against in the CL will target the left side of our defence.

We’ve just over a week to get ready.

  18. so clever from BR Maestro – the press is the playmaker – I wouldn’t have come up with that in a month of sundays but straight away I know what he means.

what was charlie doing bending ze knees during the interview.

  19. An Dún

For sure, hopefully we are active for the last 2 weeks of the transfer window

I do love we gregg tho….

  20. What a signing Maeda has proven to be. It’s easy to forget how durable he is as well as being so adaptable.

We might take him for granted a bit but you can bet his managers don’t.

    Invaluable

  21. Burnley78 on 18th August 2024 5:11 pm

    Stebhoy

It is not our board who do the transfer dealings or created the commercial framework. You keep referring to the board. I don’t know why

    …………….

If you were Correct….then WHY did Brendan ” THANK the BOARD” when we completed the signing of Adam Idah during the week.

    So YOU were NOT Correct….FACT.

Maybe you were too busy wondering how to slag off/Insulting Celtic supporters once again, that You didnt see/hear Brendan THANKING the Celtic BOARD ?

  22. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

The absolutely not quick Mateo Kovacic just walked by two midfielders who cost £220m to score ….

… as opposed to “just walked by £220m worth of midfielders to score”

  23. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    bheaver on 18th August 2024 4:31 pm

Hibs right back might do a job for us.

    ——–

    Doubt it bheaver.

I believe Celtic outsource Stewarding and Security.

  24. BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 18TH AUGUST 2024 6:22 PM

And Chelsea sold him to City for £25m.

  25. Good game and good result. Is there a problem at Celtic Park with a wind swriling from the old deid team’s end? That’s 2 games in a row where rubbish has drifted on to the pitch. The corner flag next to the North Stand was regularly bent almost flat.
