Good game and good result. Is there a problem at Celtic Park with a wind swriling from the old deid teamโs end? Thatโs 2 games in a row where rubbish has drifted on to the pitch. The corner flag next to the North Stand was regularly bent almost flat.

must have been over 50000 there today. looking round the stands there was no way there were more than 10000 empty seats.
the irony is that celtic will probably announce a lower attendance for today than they would for a league game that has more empty seats!
St Stivs will have kittens about that!

For the life of me I cannae see how we are weaker than last season, ok we lost one of our strikers before this game, but we have crossed that bridge before with plenty of success, I recall a cup final when we had our 2 star wingers out plus one of our prolific goal scorers who was cup tied, in fact they were so confident of winning especially after beating us in 2 weeks prior 3-4 in a Glasgow Cup semi at Parkheid and walloping the sheep 6-1 in the semi at a neutral Parkheid that they had arranged for a party complete with accordion and flute bands.
The Big Mhan countered all that by playing prospective centre half Big George and winger wee ten thirty as deep lying midfielders allowing Stevie and the Buzz Bomb room tae exploit the holes that the full backs had left chasing our โwingersโ, result Celtic 4 huns 0
Lets fast forward 11 years when again wee meet the huns with our 2 regular centre halves, Roddy McDonald and Tom McAdam a converted centre forward by big Billy, plus midfielder Dom Sullivan out injured, Billy drafted in midfielder Mike Conroy, not to replace Dom, but to join big Roy of the Rovers as a double centre half pairing where they had big baw face johnstone and his acolytes in their pockets, result Celtic 1 huns 0.
And before we finish what about the SC again, this time the semi plus replay, โwhen Bobby plays Celtic playโ was out injured, so just 3 weeks prior to Lisbon Jock drafted in goal scorer supreme Wispy at right half with the cup hero of 2 years before Charlie Gallacher replacing him at inside right, result Celtic 2 Clyde 0 with Wispy being named MOTM in both games just edging out bully wee hero Harry Harry, who we would sign 2 years later, the first and probably the only player that I can ever recall that we signed after turning us down, oh forgot about former bairn Stokesie.
Oh, and on the subject of converted players big Tam was signed as a right footed centre half and Andy Lynch a left winger, both Hun skelpers tae.
Moral tae these stories is good players can play anywhere, as Daisy proved the day.

Difficult to single out a MOM from the many contenders OโRiley, Calum, Hatate, were all unplayable midfielders. Nicolas Kuhn beats men for fun including the goalie, James Forrest is the epitome of fitness and would have earned a first half penalty last year that โ the rules โ say isnโt a penalty this year. Johnston and Taylor were immense in the faster, fitter intense Celtic side BR and his staff, are putting on the park.
It was Daizen Maeda a man for all seasons, that did the most damage in attack and even when subbing pushed him back wide of Adam Idah, he still provided the biggest goal threat until he left the pitch for his ovation.

As opinions go there’s little to support it. In our pre-season results where you forecast doom, we are undefeated and we beat 2 top EPL outfits. Last season we toured Japan and lost 6:4 to Yokohama, narrowly beat Gamba Osaka, drew with Wolves and beat Bilbao 3:2. Now I don’t put too much store in pre-season and don’t feel it has much of a relation with the way we will perform in the season to come, but, as I said you felt we would do less well than last season’s team and we didn’t.
In the league last year in August, we beat Ross Co; and Aberdeen but then drew with St. Johnstone at CP- were you really happy with last August’s Celtic- you hid it well?
This season we have remained unbeaten through 2 of our 3 August league fixtures (we still have to play St. Mirren)
In the LC last year we got beat by Kilmarnock in the 2nd round. Today we won easily and qualified for the q-finals.
For a poorer squad, we are punching well above what last year’s squad and manager managed.
