    Big Jimmy?

    ………..

I will be happy to meet you, BRRB etc next MONDAY ( 17th March) in any Pub in the city centre, as I can always get a Taxi to the Pub and back ?

However, IF we meeting at around 12 NOON, maybe we could meet in The SHIPBANK for Two or Three Hours BEFORE the LIVE Music begins, and then head out to another Pub ?

IF we did that I would need a Taxi, as I canny walk to another Pub from The Shipbank ?

    HH Mate.

    Good morning all from Govanhill.

    ********

Good Morning, Johnny Bhoy……Think you’ve caught everyone asleep.

    Great win and performance yesterday

    These are great times

  3. Good to see BIG JIMMY up and at it… a wee bevy invite from AIPPLE usually does the trick.

    Hope you’re well, Big Mhan.

  4. The usual LIVE Music on a Monday afternoon in The Shipbank aint so good, although the Pub can become rather busy on those afternoons with a lot of AULD YINS appearing on their weekly visit.

Whit am I saying ?………I am one of those AULD YINS, however I do NOT rate the “singing couple”, that perform on Monday afternoons.

Its a husband and wife team on a Monday afternoon, and while the Lassie has a good voice, her Hubby is SHOCKING when he tries to sing….hes better sticking to his Key Boards.

    LOL

Cheers SCANIEL, I hope that you an ALL the family ( Humans and Beautiful Beasts) are all fit and healthy.

The only reason that I may meet with AIPPLE and BRRB next week is that THEY are buying all the Beers…..They just DON’T KNOW it yet !

    LOL

Dick McTaggart died yesterday. Most of you will not know of him but he was a hero to many of us in 1956 when he won a gold medal at the Melbourne Olympics. He was also voted the most stylish boxer at the games. He was from Dundee but he made all Scots very proud of his special achievement. RIP

  7. The cycle lanes along London Road ,must be the worst traffic decision made by a local authority ever.

The road is reduced to a single lane .

Tens of thousand of drivers and their passengers ,inconvenienced, for virtually no cyclists.

I have never seen a cyclist use the lanes .

Not Celtic’s fault ,just stupid decisions by people who lack the intelligence to have the foresight to weight up the outcome of their policies, in the real world .

“Some feat to win most stylish boxer when a young Muhammed Ali was up for it too”

No, Muhammad Ali’s first Olympic Games was in 1960 in Rome where he won the light-heavyweight title.

Dick McTaggart won bronze in Rome at lightweight.

  10. Morning all!

Big Leggy, BRRB, Big Jimmy and I shall be sharing a few beers March 17th.

Even if you don’t have “B” in your name you are welcome along!

There was an evening in 1961 when a team of British amateur boxers, including Dick McTaggart, beat an American team by 10 bouts to nil. Dick McT won his lightweight fight easily but it was the last fight of the night that caused most excitement. Leading 9-0, a young guy from London’s east-end, Billy Walker, took on a giant American and knocked him out in the first round, so giving Britain a surprising 10-0 victory. Walker turned pro very soon afterwards. He was known as ‘Golden Boy’ and was a big draw and crowd pleaser, however, he never managed to win a British title.

Btw…those were the days when boxing was a big tv sport and almost all fights, amateur and professional, were shown live.

I guess boxing quick news has sent everyone scurrying off somewhere else. But you know, there comes a time when one’s past is so much longer than one’s future. I can think no further than next Sunday’s game against them but I can travel much further back to a time when everything was in black and white. I only wish I had Tontine Tim’s memory for detail but I’ll have to make do with the sometimes blurry visions my old memory banks retain.

  14. Like a few others I thought Hibs were very organised but it came at a cost. No chances. In a knockout competition too, I’m sure they’ll learn from that.

Watched it on tv , I like Michael Stewart but he struggles a bit when Hibs or Hearts are playing.

We strolled it , Trusty looks better with Schlupp .

Daizen is incredible just now, Jota’s lack of games is just showing now and Kuhn has shaded .

The longer breaks between games and the better weather will help those with heavy legs.
