Given the lack of traffic management in and around Celtic Park, (GCC&PoliceGlesga) there is little or no advantage in leaving five minutes early, or in other words before the match has ended, but those that do will always come up with this or that excuse. Problem is it often disrupts many others who are still there to support the Bhoys. Burnley78 is right on this one, for the early leavers it is all about “me me me”. Thing is they are not even aware of the disruption to genuine supporters they are causing. Or care for that matter.

*SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2025-26*
*RESULTS FROM GAME #11 CELTIC 0 HIBS 0*
Good evening, friends.
The usual pre-match pitch announcer (a neighbour of mine!) was brave enough to ignore the irony and announce the teams with his usual “Let’s make some noise for the Bhoys…” and we learned that Brendan had made 5 changes from midweek, with the midfield in particular being freshened up. And the lack of singing didn’t seem to affect those on the pitch as Celtic started very positively, quickly camping themselves in the final third of the park and creating a series of close things.
The first one that got away was in the 20th minute. Following a rare Hibs attack, Schmeichel tried to quickly send Tounekti away on the left. The kick was intercepted but McCowan picked up the loose ball and sent an excellent diagonal pass on to Maeda on the right. Daizens great ball across the 6 yard box was met flush by Iheanachi but the effort crashed off the bar.
Not long after that, good progress down the right saw Ralston overhit his cross into the box. The impressive Saracchi chased the ball and managed to swivel and hit a great strike but again the bar came to Hibs’ rescue.
But it was Hibs who arguably had the best chance to score. A free kick into the box in 1st half injury time fell to Ohora who somehow scooped the ball up and onto the roof of the net from 2 yards out.
The second half, like the first was almost all one way traffic with loads of dangerous balls into and across the crowded box. But none of these materialised into anything more than a close thing. 5 substitutes failed to really ignite anything although Nygren and to a lesser extent Bernardo did look a bit more direct and urgent.
So, 2 points dropped and that’s now 4 games out of 11 that we have failed to score in.
As for the performance of the man in the middle, I could have typed half a dozen paragraphs on him alone. Terrible officiating and abysmal time keeping. But I don’t want that to detract from Celtic’s own failings both in the directors box and in the dug out.
Finally, does anyone have any idea what has happened to Shin Yamada? He was thrown on during the second half at Ibrox and most folk thought he did better than expected, good at holding the ball up and tenacious in keeping their defence busy. He hasn’t even made the bench since then!
We have now played 11 games, winning 6 and drawing 5. We have scored 17 goals and conceded 3.
The voting numbers remain lower than I always hope for but a huge thank you to the 77 who voted this time around. Including the one who included Shane Lowry in his top 3!
The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.
And so, the POINTS earned by each player for this match are as follows –
25 points: Saracchi
22 points: McCowan
18 points: Scales and Tounekti
14 points: Iheanacho
12 points: McGregor
11 points: Carter-Vickers and Ralston
9 points: Engels and Maeda
6 points: Bernardo, Forrest and Schmeichel
3 points: Balikwisha, Kenny and Nygren
1 point: Donovan, Murray, Sinisalo and Tierney
And the cumulative points achieved after 11 games played are –
189: Scales
128: McGregor and Tierney
125: Nygren
119: Carter-Vickers
109: Forrest
98: Engels
94: Donovan
88: Hatate
86: McCowan
83: Maeda
78: Tounekti
71: Yang
69: Ralston
68: Iheanacho
63: Schmeichel
58: Saracchi
57: Murray
54: Johnston
41: Yamada
32: Bernardo
25: Kenny and Sinisalo
22: Balikwisha, Inamura and Trusty
19: Idah
2: Doohan, Osmond and Simpson-Pusey
0: All the other players who’ve not yet made a matchday squad!
Our next game is on Thursday when we play our 2nd tie in the Europa League. It’s a home game against Sporting Braga who won their opening tie 1-0 against Feyenoord. Kick off is 5.45pm.
I can’t thank you enough for all your kind words and best wishes, you are a golden hearted group of people.
