I was wondering about Mulumbu maybe BR thinks he is not needed at Celtic Park if Broony starts ?

Might get some game time now

Made me laugh, just heard Michael Stewart more or less saying I will give Craig (Levein) credit but I don’t like him and he isn’t a nice person

Thought Edouard was much better today. A £9m striker who his manager is quite rightly playing. He created a couple of chances by himself. So much better running into space rather than sitting in a tight box. He could score 30 goals if he starts to find space or drop back in the box rather than continuing his run.

A few weeks ago we had folk on this blog making statements about the manager playing him over Griff.

Doesn’t matter if Forrest plays left right or through middle the opposition can’t cope with his pace and movement. Rodgers has made the best with what he has.

Browns injury and Lustigs continuing decline in pace and mobility underline the requirement for the players Rodgers wanted. How many goals have we now lost from the right back area? Thought McGregor was good in the Brown position in linking play and seeing passes Brown wouldn’t. McGregors ability to take a ball in a tight space and find an impossible pas to keep possession is impressive. I am not sure he smells danger in the same way that Brown does though. We may be more offensive in Browns absence with Callum but it’s damning that Kouassi isn’t an automatic choice.

Our academy delivered in Forrest, McGregor and Tierney. Name another club with 3 players in their first team who continue to deliver as those 3 do who have come from their academy?

Brendan has changed the defence to sit narrow. The 3 behind the striker are much more mobile and interchangeable.

I would give Leicester all of the £13m now.

I love Lenny’s passion , and admire the way he has Hibs playing , but I’m disappointed in his after match comments today , after his team could have been on the end of a real doing.

  8. Good evening all,

A brilliant result and a wonderful performance, especially in the first half.

dena29, great to see you posting again. Hope you and the family are well. HH

  9. Fascinating close encounters they usually aren’t but Celtic v Hibs just got a whole lot more interesting, due to Hibs having a top class manager.

Neil Lennon has blossomed and so have Hibs, after years in the doldrums they play fast attacking bright football, like we do, when Olivier Ntcham plays, Celtic play, and I didn’t subscribe to Paul67’s one match a week for Tom Rogic who contested Callum MacGregor, and James Forrest, for man of the match.

James Forrest is in his element right now, and virtually the fastest thing on grass every bit the winger Celtic fans always craved from his massive potential years. He should be wrapped in cotton wool a la Jimmy Johnstone after Red Star motioned in the week, pampered till Murrayfield.IMHO. In Leipzig we should play the bhoys, in a tournament that means nothing, and is the lesser game in our quest for treble trebles.

Tom Rogic’s searing shot on eight minutes set the scene and halted the Hibs high press, Celts played scintillating stuff on the magnificent big bowling green of Parkhead, threading passes into the channels for Ntcham who slotted the crucial two goal separator, that kept hungry Hibs at their distance, for most of the day.

Forrest rained in on Hibs in and Odsonne Edouard’s menace finally paid off via the big man who scored with his right an then his left after a great touch from from MacGregor. Filip Benkovic looks every bit his 1.94 metres and his 12M price tag, as he never put a foot wrong beside Dedryk Boyata with whom he formed a rock solid partnership, that gives us great hope, as the goals lost, were down to creative play by Hibs who were above us in the league at the k.o. and will have a big say in taking points all over the SPL.

Michael Lustig must find ‘new legs’ every other week to keep pace with Keiran Tierney who revelled playing in formation and in his correct position. Scott Sinclair replaced Scott Brown in an indirect swop he found himself wide right for a change that didn’t alter his luck and managed to hit the wood work twice.

Ticket and chariot secured for the enforced visit to Murrayfield and the continuing joy of supporting Celtic against all forces of darkness, whatever the shade.

    M.O.M. Callum MacGregor

  10. Thank you, Celtic, for a great result, played the Celtic way.

Entertainment from a real football team. Let’s hope we can keep it going.

We might not be allowed to in Murrayfield. Levein was glorying in kicking Aberdeen off the park, because blood and thunder are what Scottish football supporters want. Crass. That’s the stupid attitude that is destroying the game and the sooner the MIBs crack down on it the better. (Not that I really expect it,)

Another crass statement I heard yesterday was the Livingstone Manager defending plastic pitches, Utter nonsense. Like hacking, the plastic pitch can be a leveller as the ball doesn’t run true way too often.

  11. GG,

From BBC. Not quite how I saw it, mind you.

Celtic survived a late scare to stay within three points of Premiership leaders Hearts after an enthralling victory over Hibernian.

Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham had Brendan Rodgers’ side two goals up within 20 minutes before Scott Brown went off injured.

Florian Kamberi gave Hibs hope before Odsonne Edouard restored Celtic’s two-goal lead on 70 minutes.

Martin Boyle countered immediately but Edouard sealed victory late on.

It was drama from the first to the last whistle at Celtic Park as Rodgers’ men racked up their third Premiership victory in a row.

Hibs fall five points off the pace as they sit in fourth.

    Celtic toyed with Hibs

The injury to regular right-back David Gray was pivotal as Hibs changed their shape to a back three. But the formation failed to work as Celtic ran riot going forward.

With only Leigh Griffiths missing from the team that thrashed St Johnstone 6-0 last time out, the champions were clearly keen to pick up where they left off and they relished sinking their teeth into Hibs. Two goals swiftly arrived along with three other efforts off the post as Rodgers’ side toyed with their opponents.

The goal from Rogic was typically elegant from the Australian international. The Ntcham goal was a fine team effort and Edouard profited from a searing moment of wing play from James Forrest before putting the seal on the win with a second.

Hibs would tweak their formation midway through the first half to match up with Celtic, and it brought more stability for the away side as they began to create opportunities. But by then Celtic were in control.

The goals from Kamberi and Boyle gave the second half fizz but in truth Hibs were always on the catch up after their bad start.

    Scott Brown

Scott Brown receives treatment before going off in the first half

Lennon gamble fails to pay off

There was much excited talk in the lead-up to this match over whether or not Hibernian could be considered legitimate title contenders. Neil Lennon had branded such talk as “folly”. On this basis he was correct to do so.

Before the match – and to his credit – the Hibs boss talked about taking the game to Celtic. But the gamble failed as Celtic took control.

Of course this was always going to be a tough test for Hibs, and they remain a work in progress. But in the corresponding fixture last season Hibs truly did take the game to Celtic and came away with a 2-2 draw. So in that context this 4-2 defeat will feel like a setback.

Credit to Celtic. They have been asked many a question this season and at times they have fumbled the answer.

But they have now beaten big rivals Rangers, Aberdeen and Hibernian – albeit it, all at home. The mojo might not be back completely, but they are delivering the results

  12. BIG PACKY1

Thank you very much. Can I just say, please no one, neglect leg or foot ulcers should they arise. I am in absolute agony with these abominations. Just as well I have Celtic to keep me sane and relatively pain free. Keep safe and healthy the lot of you. ??HH

A lot of the time my sycophantic endorsement of The Great Pedro Lawwell is slightly tongue in cheek.

A counter balance maybe to the crazy stuff that sometimes appears on here after a “bad result ” ( imagine had Hibs got the 6th today and not Le Gaule Eddy Mon Ami) when Peter Lawwell/Dermot Desmond et al get it in the neck for their constant attempts to undermine Celtic and force the Irish Diaspora in the west of Scotland to take their seats at the back of the bus.

They may well be evil capitalist swine but at least they are our evil capitalist swine.

    God bless Peter Lawwell.

    C’mon the 49ers.

  14. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Like all of us , I’m delighted with our win and performance today.

Overall our players did their jobs extremely well as did the woodwork for Hibs.

Some lovely fast and one touch fotball , our confidence is coming back.

There was a bit of a hooha from Neil and Gary Parker after our fourth goal. They both were shouting at our bench , possibly aimed at Chris Davies and it continued after the final whistle.

A nice touch by Efe after the game . He was talking to some youngsters in the first row of the front stand and was given a warm round of applause by our support in that area which was greatly appreciated by him. He was impressive today for his team

In case you haven’t heard, Tony was binned by Pollok on Thursday night. Pollok did not start the season in good form but up until today , their results had improved.

I hope , if he was playing, Paddy had a good game for Cumbernauld today.

Perfectly aware of that, though many a true word, etc. Yes,some criticism may be over the top,but I think time has shown that not only were we not paranoid enough,we also weren’t critical enough of PL.

The stake through the heart of Res 12 should put to bed any defence from anyone on here or elsewhere.

    Mail you in a mo.

  18. In my 50 years of watching Celtic, today’s game would be In my top 50 due to Celtic’s movement and also how Hibs played.

    Great entertainment.

Also, I thought that Don Robertson refereed the game well, allowing advantage on many occasions which contributed to the flow of the game.

  19. Tom Rogic, wizard of Oz. Man of the match. Wife was watching “strictly ” when I got home. I told her Tom would win it easy.

Callum McGregor outstanding. (Miscontrol prior to their second goal notwithstanding)

Gordon a couple of great saves. Boyata and Benkovic are so good. Tierney a quiet game by his standards, but good. Alas Lustig. Good play in lead up to Tom’s goal. Suffered when he lost Forrest for back up in the second half.

    Ntcham, Edouard, Forrest were terrific.

Sinclair. Hit the net instead of the post and it would build on the backheel against Aberedeen. But he didn’t. And so it’s back to the start for him.

Christie nice cameo at the end, looked the goods.

And finally. Brendan’s decision to put Sinclair on the right and Forrest on the left for the second half. Kinda worked because Forrest set up the goal. But it did weaken the right. Maybe a trial to cope without James on Thursday.
