CELTIC v HIBS SWITCH

1

CELTIC’S Premiership game against Hibs at Parkhead, which was due on Saturday September 26, will now be played 24 hours later, it has been confirmed.

The fixture will be played on Sunday with a 3pm kick-off due to the club’s involvement in the Europa League.

The nine-in-a-row champions face Latvian side Riga or San Marino’s Tre Fiori in the third qualifying round on Thursday, September 24, leaving SPFL chiefs no choice but to push the meeting with the Easter Road outfit back a day.

Strikes from Jeremie Frimpong, his first at home for the side after opening his account in a 4-0 win against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in October, and Odsonne Eduard gave the Hoops a 2-0 win in December last year in the only league clash between the sides in Glasgow last season.

Earlier, Neil Lennon’s side had been held to a 1-1 draw in Edinburgh in September when Ryan Christie levelled an own goal from Kristoffer Ajer.

The teams also met in the Betfred League Cup semi-final in November with Mohamed Elyounoussi (2), Scott Brown (2) and Callum McGregor on the mark in the 5-2 triumph on the way to Final success over Steven Gerrard’s side the following month.
