  1. I don’t think br will leave but he might be sacked BR said he was staying for this year minimum all this with 100m in the bank and what was a winnable tie squandered again by this plc centric board

  2. Paul the Spark

Agree. It’s a huge weakness. I really don’t think he is the right person to lead an entity requiring good coms skills. It was never Peter’s strength either. Ironically it was Dom’s but he obviously had other issues.

  3. Plc first plc only when Celtic Fc becomes the reason for the existence of the plc we can then move forward as one, what we have is no better than the whytes and kellys although with considerably more money in the bank made off the back of the support Celtic produces accounts there is no transparency other than vague world class words that mean nothing, it certainly isn’t on the pitch

  4. All joking and posturing aside

Historically Celtic gave ‘a people’ a vicarious link to joy and success for decades when life didn’t offer much else. It was also an outlet to express themselves every other Saturday.

Fortunately that ‘people’ don’t quite need that outlet in the same way these days. ‘Our day has come’ and the success of many in life on this blog illustrates this.

‘Catholics need not apply’ is not the same issue these days but many fans still do see Celtic as an escape from their lives and a chance for association with success. The difference is they now spend huge % of their disposable income on it. They feel entitled as a result. It is a consumer transaction but fuelled by powerful emotion.

Harnessing the potential could be massive. Hiding from the challenge could lead to a disaster for the club which has done really really well this past 2 decades.

The need to communicate and engage with the customers and fans is a weakness and has never been more important. Alignment can be so powerful.

It’s not been a core strength up to now.

  5. Burnley we arra peopul. We buy r a pies. Really.

The last thing I want is for the governance that has kept us on top for the last 20 to listen to the punters. Look what happened to the swamp in the sooside.

The last time they listened to the same crew crying out for any new player, and insisting on Idah, same crew wetting there panties now, they bought him. Fool me once.

Repeat each August. Let’s see where we are in May next year.

Radio Scotland hasn’t mentioned anything about the game, apart from the boos at the end against the Board. Nothing whatsoever about the time-wasting, play acting and gamesmanship of the opposition. There were plenty of boos during the game about their antics. Worse than any SPFL team.

Was it mentioned on here ( I haven’t read all the way back) or post match why there was no VAR check on the studs up, contact on Nygren’s shin in the 2nd half when he challenged their defender in the box?

  7. ” EKBhoy on 21st August 2025 7:50 am

Return leg in the balance. We could still get through equally we could fall to a narrow defeat ….. ”

    I agree.

    Football, eh?

  8. Tom McLaughlin on

Scales had a clear header into an empty goal from 6 yards from an Engels corner. Just a shame he closed his eyes at the crucial second and headed over the bar.

  9. We were against a team who has won through 6 Euro games this season. Solid and structured with no new guys bedding in like Nygren and KT. We had played 3 domestic games.

We will have played 5 by next week and hopefully in better collective shape.

The only other time I can recall us drawing at home first and then going through in a CL 2 leg game was v Rosenberg under BR in 2017 when we had James Forrest as our only striker. We then beat a Kazak team in the play off. So maybe all is not lost.

  10. National broadcaster salivating over Celtic internal strife. Celtic bloggers, compliant manager and MSM plus lack of CEO leadership combine to give them the platform.

The pathetic. Utterly pathetic weak officiating and incredible cheating opposition not even mentioned.

  11. What I have learned is we are short in attackings areas of genuine pace and quality, likewise in the midfield lightweight even guys witha bit of size cannot retain the ball, what I cannot understand is how professional players some have had 3 weeks off, deteriorate so much physically in that time, heart and desire are not trainable issues either.

  12. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Burnley78 – as is often the case, I think you make good points and make them well.

(Respectfully – I wouldn’t have included the “underpaid” jape).

We are living a very peculiar paradox.

A football “club PLC” that performs brilliantly as a business.

A football “team” (teams actually) that delivers unprecedented success over 25 years.

And yet, a football club (our “movement” if you will) that is torn by resentment, frustration, bitterness, and division.

I’ve gone on the record over a decade or more as bring broadly supportive of the board approach.

As a corporate entity? It is brilliant.

    Top right quadrant stuff.

But, respectfully and truthfully, that is not enough.

And the board, IMHO, should own the fact that is not enough and do something about it.

First step to resolving any problem?

Recognising it exists and understanding its impact now and in future.

The Celtic board’s clear unwillingness to just regularly inform ..

I’m talking one-way messaging here, not even proper communication (!) ..

    Is unacceptable.

In that vacuum, is it any wonder many of our fans perceive the board akin to Roman Emperors and their relationship with the plebs (from plebiscite)?

    There’s yir bread !

    There’s yir circuses !

    That’s all your gettin’ !

  13. Not too many mentions of the impact of travelling west across different timezones on the result….

Guessing that theory has gone oot the windae…

  14. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

    Burnley

Agree with much of your analysis of the changing dynamics. No-one at Celtic responsible, it’s modern capitalism. Soulless though.

I think the lack of communication thing is overplayed. No-one’s going to be placated just because a strategy they hate is better communicated. And if you’re the Board why put yourself through the inevitable and pointless mauling.

  15. Burnley78:

I see some people are commenting on the “quality” of your “analysis.”

Funny that. I don’t see any. I see you blaming us, on the blogs, the media (easy target) and the “compliant” manager … complying with what? I see a guy straining at the leash but maintaining his professionalism in the face of some pretty severe provocation from those above him.

Are you denying that there’s internal strife at Celtic? Everyone knows there is. You just dont want people to focus on it. Like having a deadly disease and not wanting it confirmed. But confirmation and discussion is what comes before the cure.

Perhaps you would prefer we were all club poodles and toadies? Perhaps you would prefer the media ignored actual news? How well did those things work out for the club across the city?

Honest to God, you have your head up your arse and I don’t know if that’s deliberate or whether it just got stuck up there at one point whilst you were looking for the anal beads … I do know that I’m glad I don’t frequent this place enough to have to pretend you’re interested in a real discussion.

You are a zealot. There’s no debate to be had with you. I’ll just say that your “analysis” is shit and leave it at that.

  16. Calm down James. There are worse things happening in the world today than Celtic badly performing.

Telling us that you only seldom appear on the blog is splendid news for most, if not all, the other contributors here. Have a nice day.
