Didn’t know about the GBs statement

I agree with you.. they are capable of getting the whole stadium rocking…”Just can’t get enough” and so on…

  2. 31003

Agree that we will only progress if we do vary it. No point in the debate when the current man is in charge. He won’t do that.

For now my sense is getting behind the team on Wednesday and a week on Wednesday is still a chance for us to get some success and achieve as much as we can in our current situation. Hopefully others in positions of power in the club can see the wider perspective going forward.

  3. 31003,

Yep,another gripe of mine. Its,find the nearest Hoops jersey sometimes.I mentioned tonight,REO got the the ball,AJ bust a gut flying up the wing into acres of space,REO thought about it,then gave a 3 yard square pass, the other way.We do this too often.Passing from CH to midfielder, who has time to take, turn and move forward, like Calmac used to do a lot more, has now most of the time turned into returning it back to the CH,then out to the LB,back to the CH,across to his partner, out to RB,into midfield, back to CH,across to his partner,up to Mazda, eventually,in their half, back to LB,into CH,onto midfield, fekin rinse and repeat.

    Am I wrong?.

  4. Made a nice change to see the Celts up close evening time and all. Met An Tearmann just before the game so that was an added bonus. Well it is what I would call a proper Scottish Cup tie. Wait a minute…

Not easy by any means. Dont know how many times McInnes has managed teams against Celtic, and he does not have a good record against us, but he got his tactics right today, reduce the time and space we had on the ball, in our own half and all in black they looked like a different team. That said we worked hard to and did create some good chances in both halves, could have should scored more, deserved the win and are in the next round draw. Job done. We have won one and are competing in three other tournaments. Next up back to the CL, where a win could/will take us into the playoffs. Lots to talk about before then

  5. To those who dont really like BR or his style of play, as much as I agree with many of the things you guys say (I’m sure you care), I just dont recall the same attitudes towards Ange when he was here (and he most certainly did not vary his style of play against any team). Happy to be completely wrong on that, but just dont.

(and BTW, I’m not BRs biggest fan !)

  6. Also, with this auld audiences dwindling, mibby P67 needs to write ‘controversial/provocative’ stories just to keep the collective dander up and get us arguing and engaging on the site. HH

Some of the articles this past week especially have been extraordinary for all the wrong reasons.

What chance of young Celtic fans keeping the heads and cutting the team some slack ( 7 games in 20 days ! ) when guys old enough to know better write that stuff.

Do you remember that the radio commentary didn’t start until after we had scored (46 secs) – the opening words were ‘ we start with news that will light up the whole of Scotland’ (or something like that, I was twelve ffs)

Anyway that was my Radiogram memory HH

  8. Can fault the GB for calling out the greetin faced whingers that cannae wait to moan and groan in the other stands. However, I will call the GB out for not being able to sing songs that stir up the crowd enough to join in

Not so long ago we would sing songs to the tune of “winter wonderland”. Inspirational songs about the players in the squad.

There was always room for a bit of humour in the lyrics and the kids in the stands loved participating. We’d go right through the team and even the subs would sung about.

Hearing Mark Wilson the other night on Clyde talking about these kind of songs and it reminded me of the lyrics the kids sung at him warming up…

“There’s only one Mark Wilson, one Mark Wilson, He’s on the bench, Dropped again, Walking in the Wilson wonderland”. Ad infinitum.

Point is, there were songs sung about players of the day, everyone could join in with, especially the kids. The feel good factor throughout the stadium was never in question.

The Green Brigade will hopefully take the initiative and help drag our assimilated tims in the other stands into playing their part – hopefully creating an inspirational atmosphere conducive with a positive on field result. This won’t be accomplished singing Irish history songs. Those should be kept until the battle on park has been won.

In a political sense the GB has stated we all have our part to play, however small, to achieve the desired result. Let’s stay in Government… .der Hun on the Opposition benches can rot in Hell.

    Ave Ave

  9. The rebel song / Celtic song debate,

fair play to the Green Brigade for bringing so many songs into the stadium, but do we need to hear all 4 verses and chorus of the songs?

When the songs are stretched out, to take in all the verses , it feels less like a football match and more like a school concert that I haven’t learned my lines.

The Bhoys sing pretty much the same song book as the GB but rarely are they both on the same song.

I sit in the Front Stand nearest the Bhoys, it’s like listening to headphones with a different song in each ear.

    Could they not co-ordinate?

And a personal grip of mine…

The Bhoys Capo by shouting through the megaphone starts almost every song in the wrong key.. it takes about 3 lines to get close to a key that they can sing.

He does not lack enthusiasm, but has Van Gogh’s ear for music.

It amused me last week , when they sang the old favourite Heh Jude anthem …

“Naaaaaa, na na na na na na

    Na, na na na

    Celtic”

It started in a key so high that the first few lines were audible only to dolphins.

They were brilliant with the ex player song book, all short, snappy, tuneful and “singalongable”

More of the same please…with a few short rebs thrown in.

  10. Chairbhoy

“Much less down the flanks and more through the middle, we carved Kilmarnock open with the speed of our counter”…

C’mon….when was the last time we played down the flanks and whipped a cross in from the bye line?….Really?…

  11. for all those crosses across the goal – where nobody quite connected – at least folk cant blame Idah for not being there….

  12. In fact…we bring Idah on and still don’t whip a cross in..then moan about the big man not scoring enough…

  13. When I was young we had a radiogram that took up the whole living room wall…

Can do the whole thing on my phone now…

  14. ….could store a lot of LPs mind you….Liberace, Frank Sinatra and that German dude and his orchestra that I can’t remember the name of…very popular with parents and grandparents of the early ‘70s….

  15. 17 year old golf pro hit a 64 at the AmEx tournament yesterday….presently 6 under par…I have golf balls in my bag older than him…

  16. Night. I am a bit upset Celtic got knocked out the cup despite all the expert advise available here.

    Golf. Dearie me.

    Many empty seats tonight….yaaawwwnnn?

  18. SS

I’ll let you sit in my seat for one game.

It is as painful to listen to, as it must be to sing.

Don’t start me on the drums..

    😀

  19. Aye. Golf. Dearie me. Boring on a Celtic football blog.

Wtf has it got to do with Celtic ?

  20. St Stivs

No disrespect…but…it would seem to me you only think Celtic played bad…if at all, when they lost…

With that in mind..do you think Celtic have played well in 95% of their games…..and does winning 6-0 mean they played better when they won 1-0?…

What has an empty paid for seat got to do with Celtic?…

Tontine, Yep a Monday night. Bobby Carroll HT.

*another much maligned player like Jim Kennedy and Johnny Divers who were with us at the wrong time, he actually moved to Love Street and played against us in the SC in the first game we had played after it was announced Jock would soon be joining us, we won 3-0

    *********

I’ll never forget Bobby as he scored the first goal I witnessed at Celtic Park, ironically against Kilmarnock. Stevie Chalmers got the second in what I’ve always thought was a 2-0 victory until I looked it up a couple of years ago only to find the game ended 2-2. It was 1961 and I was 10 years old. I cherish every Celtic victory

*aye very well, I was playing fitba that day against Rolls Royce Blantyre and heading for home in a van full of Celtic supporters when it come over the radio, this was 2 weeks after we had clinched the League at Methil for a record 7 in a row, lost on penalties tae Inter 4 days later, 3 days after that gubbed Motherwell 5-2 at Parkheid, and then a further 3 days later the Arabs at the same venue before going down 1-4 tae the calvinists at swinecastle, oh and 2 weeks after all that walloped the hibbees 6-1 in the SC Final, on a day when they were singing before the game “Dixie Deans superstar, how many feet is it over the bar”.

  24. Quite a number of posters on here are more interested in golf rather than paid for empty seats…or fans that have the audacity to leave a little early to make their 5 hour journey home a little easier…
