  1. Just spotted this on Google,

” Rangers sign Raphael Hernandes ( Bling name ), from Portuguese club,Arouca ????,Who?.

The 6.3 CH will be a great addition. On loan at Lille for a year he never featured for the first team.

Rangers hope to secure him for£2.5 million at the end of the season.

So,Arouca, got shot of him,Lille got shot of him,God help the big Soul.He will be a big Dafty.

  2. I’m fed up moaning about Celtic performances….win lose or draw….i know we are better than recent..and I know we’ll improve before seasons end…but will we improve before the YB game…if we don’t……

One for the older mob. We beat St Mirren 5-1 on the Wednesday, and lost 2-0 to them in the SC semi at Ibrox .I was at both. Hopefully reversed on Wednesday.

*Hate to be pedantic but it was a Monday night, I was still in school at the time so nae chance of going to a game unless it was a Big one on a school night although some of my class mates were and raved about us the following morning.

Wisnae there on the Saturday either as I was playing in a 2nd replay at St Pat’s school, it went tae extra time in a day that saw 4 seasons in the one, as we walked down Cardross Road, disappointed but NOT down as it was a great game when we saw this older lad walking up wearing his scarf,

Now we had a 2:00 ko but even with the extra time it was strange to see him, whit was the score, gubbed 3-1 and a riot ensued so he effed off, it seemed that 2 Celts destroyed us that afternoon, Willie Fernie who had just left us a few months earlier and Tommy Bryceland who turned us down as seemingly we treated his brother, who was on our books, poorly

What shocked us, and the whole of Scottish fitba, was both us and Motherwell were favourites that afternoon to progress to the final as we were the best 2 teams in the country at the time, the latter lost at hunden tae the huns.

  4. Arouca are lying18 in the Portuguese league, with a minus 25 goal difference.

Shit,if only they had a decent CH.

the GB can sing what they want. Its not up to the mutes to decide what songs the should sing. If folk want other songs, then they start singing themselves. The GB are not the fans minstrels. The Bhoys sing their own songs too. They dont wait for the GB. My nephew stands with the GB and he agrees with me :)

On other stuff, BRs system should have given us at least 6 or 7 goals today. Kyogo had plenty service as did others. Kilmarnock pressed us my 4rse. We were simply wasteful in the extreme. Some of the quick interplay was lovely to watch. Only the final ball/finishing let us down. ALL just my opinion right enough.

Also good to see that those off the ball blocks and kicking away the ball that we have seen in previous games are in fact new laws of the game which we missed. How else could they be allowed to happen again today with no punishment.

  6. Tontine,

I was a wean at both games.Thought it was 2-0.Long time ago,but your right,my Das fav player was Fernie, and he was raging he tore us apart. We met my two uncles, and 3 aunts at Paisley Rd Toll, and my Da was raging telling one of his sisters who should not have come as she was a fekin Jinx.He was good after the game.

  7. SPIKEYSAULDMAN on 18TH JANUARY 2025 8:56 PM

I must have imagined us struggling to get the ball away from our own corner flag late in the game due to Killies high press….

Being blind to our poor play/defending/poor tactics/poor passing does not a better Celtic supporter make…

  8. Missing mega chances puts pressure on the team .

And dictates our choice of subs.

I hope the Kilmarnock goalkeeper is ok. His eye was swelling up badly as he left the park.

Now imagine the situation was reversed. We would be putting on a goalkeeper with absolutely no first team gametime.

    HH.

Tontine, Yep a Monday night. Bobby Carroll HT.

*another much maligned player like Jim Kennedy and Johnny Divers who were with us at the wrong time, he actually moved to Love Street and played against us in the SC in the first game we had played after it was announced Jock would soon be joining us, we won 3-0

  10. I watched Kasper pass to CCV….i watched 4 Celtic players move towards CCV from the midfield area to give CCV an out all…I watched the same 4 players being closely followed by 4 Killie players within 3-4 yards through that move….

    Now if that’s not pressing…what is?….

  11. GREENPINATA on 18TH JANUARY 2025 9:06 PM

I hope the Kilmarnock goalkeeper is ok. His eye was swelling up badly as he left the park.

*hmmm was he not fined for singing anti-Catholic songs while on the huns books

  12. Spikey,

The GB alluded to the Rebel Songs in their statement.

How many sing along with them ?Hardly anyone.I disagree with your point, its not up to them to sing different songs. They are the self appointed choir. At the moment it jet sounds like a sing song in a rebel pub.I have no problem with the songs,I used to sing in a Rebel band, but it was they who put out the statement, not me.They want more to join in.Its obvious most dont want to join in at Celtic Park.

  13. Tontine

In a poor team,Jonny Divers was a star one week, and poor the next.My Da said he was Charley Tulley on the Wednesday, and Charlie Sim,( Another one for you ) on the Saturday.I liked him, until he missed a penalty against the H.uns.

  14. GREENPINATA @ 9:06 PM,

    For goodness sake GP

When did you turn into one of the Karenbhoy’s

    Celtic 2 – 1 Kilmarnock

    Hail Hail

  15. A good performance tonight. We created plenty and were unlucky with the goal we conceded – for me that handball was deliberate, hands by side or not, he’s made himself bigger and manufactured the contact to flick the ball on.

Anyway, good game, good performance. Onward to Wednesday.

a couple of high presses – agreed – but not many as far as i could see and we wouldnt even be talking about the few occasions if the overwhelming patterns of play had been finished off. BUT as i said previously, just my opinion and happy to listen to others. i was reminded of that before the game, on the Saltmarket when some stranger on a demo asked me if i was going to CP tonight (must have been my green hat) got chatting and gave me his thoughts on some recent performances. I didnt necessarily agree with him but it was food for thought.

nothing the taking of chances would

  17. SPIKEYSAULDMAN on 18TH JANUARY 2025 9:25 PM

Had we taken our chances I wouldn’t be talking about high presses…what are we like?…

  18. Turkeybhoy 6.29

The reason why our players are happy with 7 passes instead of one is the managers obsession with possession stats. Every player is valued by these and little else as that is his mantra.

Either accept it or don’t but you won’t change him.

  19. Ah well – engineering lots of chances, not taking them but still getting thru against stodgy Killie; A result.

I don’t post very often but I try to read everyone’s contribution.

It’s certainly got weird, I can’t put my finger on what’s causing all the angst ….

Could be AI bots composing or drafting the stories. Also, with this auld audiences dwindling, mibby P67 needs to write ‘controversial/provocative’ stories just to keep the collective dander up and get us arguing and engaging on the site. HH

  20. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Good game, Killie gave it a real go. Would like to see the xG as we made some great chances and Killie scored off a jammy arm ball deflection.

Team played well but were probably at about 85%. This schedule has been a nonsense. Totally depleting.

    On to the next round.

    C’mon Fraserburgh.

  21. I am one who hope the GB start singing Celtic songs. There was an actual IRA man who used to contribute to this site who said we shouldn’t be singing rebel songs inside Celtic Park.

  22. spikeysauldman on

ok – let me put it in other words – they had a couple of high presses and a wee bit of success – the rest of the game they were carved wide open.

we can now talk about both – or will we.

  23. SPIKEYSAULDMAN on 18TH JANUARY 2025 9:41 PM

I’m not saying we didn’t deserve to win…

I’m not saying that at times we didn’t carve them open..

I’m not saying we didn’t have some nice passages of play..

I’m saying, against a better team than kilmarnock we might not have won that game..

I’m saying their high presses caused us problems…and we changed nothing to counter it…

I’m saying a team who have better players and deploy the same tactic have the ability to punish us much more than killie can..,

I’m saying…if we’re not great at defending a high presses…and recently that seems to be the case….then we should alternate between playing the ball out and playing over the press…

I’m saying if we insist in playing the ball out from the back we have to be quicker and more decisive..

  24. Young Boys may not be that good. They drew the first competitive game they have played in a month tonight against the team in 2nd bottom place in their league. They sit 5th from bottom themselves. They may be a bit undercooked coming to CP.

All that said they have nothing to lose. This will be their best chance of CL points this season. They will have more than a punchers chance for sure and def be better than Kilmarnock Dundee Dundee U rangers and Aberdeen.

Hopefully Wednesday can be one of those nights. A night like we had v Man U or Spartak when we qualified at CP. Better than the way we sneaked it in Milan. I know this is only to get to last 24 but it would still be special to get that win.

Perhaps the team having to dig that one out tonight in the second half against a team with nothing to lose might prove a great dress rehearsal.

    Maybe try stop moaning….?

  26. …Id love to see us play a ball in front of a man rather than ball to feet ALL of the time…you can see our players are never in a body position to run on to a ball..they are always square to the player holding the ball….that in itself slows the play and allows the opposition to square up…and the opposition KNOWS that’s how we play…

  27. PCS,

As I said,I don’t mind some Rebel Songs, but once they go on a roll, well you know. They are brilliant at making up songs for the payers, and putting lyrics to existing songs..Singing,Aiden MacAnespie,is not going to gee up the team,or get fans involved.Like singing Kevin Barry, great songs, but not for the games.Sam missiles,so out of date and irellevant now.

Ah well, the GB brought it up,so we will see.

Easier said than done….vary the tactics…but not likely….
